Mcleach's Truck
nerdsforprez replied to Doc_Brown's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Perhaps not because of the actual aesthetics or functionality of this build (although I, personally, IMHO think the model looks great), but for the nostalgia of this build I think it is front-page worthy. I think alot of people would relate to the build. Many people who otherwise would not be exposed to it b/c they do not read Technic forums.........moderator's opinion?- 22 replies

Likewise.... I would not count on repeating sets. Although they may be re-made, they will likely be much different. In general terms, both models have already been remade or are remakes of other models, 8294 and 8436. As you can well see, however, they are very very different with some releases being far superior than others. The only model that I know of that, to me, seems to be a true Technic re-release is the race truck, 8041 and 42041. And, given this is the only true technic re-release (at least that I know of) one can assume that it will be very unlikely of a re-release of the models you desire. Technic is not like the SW collection that gets a re-release every few years. Take Jim's advice and order the parts for your builds.

Mcleach's Truck
nerdsforprez replied to Doc_Brown's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Holy crap. This is too good. The build itself is great, but to think of actually copying this model is oustanding. I'll bet many members are too young to remember or probably never were even exposed to this show. We should take a poll. Who (and be honest out there) has never even heard of this show..... or knew about the truck? (before you went and googled it) Who knew exactly what this truck is all about as soon as it was posted? - I did - guilty.......watched it way too much as a kid. I would be interested to know people's responses. Outstanding build - and thanks for the dip in the nostalgia pool........- 22 replies

One thing that amazes me is that originally, I did not think this resembled a cargo plane much at all. More than just the lack of size (obviously too small) I did not think that the landing gear was accurate. Certainly much different than a large commercial airline. But then I did some research. The landing gear is actually very similar to that of a C-130. I was very, pleasantly suprised. The overall construction seems similar to that of a C-130. Another thing that surprised me is that looking at how the thing lands, there much be some pretty sophisticaed technology in the cockpit to help the pilot not scrape the back end of the plane when landing. The leanding gear just doesn't extent down very far. For got to add pic

Imperial Ankle Destroyer
nerdsforprez replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't think this build is funny at alll. I mean, have you ever twisted your ankle? It really, really hurts. Anything that contributes to hurt/destroys ankles is bad in my book -

great builder and modest too. judging by the photot with all the other models, your model may have taken many more pieces to build. I mean, you know best, you built the darn thing, but by the looks of things I would not doubt it being more than 3000 pieces. Did you not use the unimog tires b/c they were too small? If so (I don't know the unimog tires in relation to the third party tires) then I think it is definitely more like 3000+ pieces. Btw.... for what it is worth, I have no problem with third party tires. You did a great job here. -

Different..... I like it.

Well said. Not much improvement to NKubates's that can be done, it is that good. Modifications it is......

Yea, I don't know why @anio made the comments they did. Anio is one heck of a builder, but sometimes I think great builders can get a little petty (because others can't build to their levels) and loose contact with the main fan base. Nothing is wrong with improving on someone else's model as long as you give them credit for the original (which you did). Putting restrictions on what someone can and can't do with Lego is kinda Kragley if you get me drift.......

[MOC] X-wing

Hall of fame item IMHO if all the kinks get fixed -
I know many are against modifying stuff (lego) but not me. I think its great to try and improve propulsion for our Lego models. Great job on this one!

second that..... -
......because the amount of money that goes into making new molds I am sure TLG doesn't create these different parts whilly-nilly. I could be wrong..... but I am sure redundancy is very much frowned upon by the business aspect of the company. There is likely a lot of research and study that goes into the thinking and planning of new molds. There probably is a use or rational some way or another that perhaps we are not all aware of for these different parts....
-
A lot of parts my seem redundant, but actually have a use. Using one bushing vs. two half bushings is useful b/c one bushing has space for gear teeth to go between it whereas two half bushings do not. Earlier there was a discussion, (I can't remember where) about the parts listed in the second row of the above post which articulated the difference between the two and how they are applied differently. Anyone who recalls this conversation could elaborate.

Enabling httpS youtube links?
nerdsforprez replied to Zerobricks's topic in Forum Information and Help
I don't get it. If you compare the two codes you will see that they are exactly the same. I am just posting the code right along with the text, right? If anyone knows how to fix this problem I would greatly appreciate it. AHHHH!!!! now it works. I wonder if is the security settings from work. I am at home now and it works just fine. -

nerdsforprez replied to Zerobricks's topic in Forum Information and Help
What am I doing wrong? I just made a post http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107913 and the videos are not embedding. I used to do this, the exact same way with no problem. But for several months I have not got the embed feature to work properly: or Any help??? -
I have posted this before but it applies yet again....... so I will post it again. i did the same thing with a 8110; added an LPE to it. It was marvelously (IMHO) successful. With so many people looking to increase the power of Technic MOCs, adding an LPE is one way to do it, at least with very large models. Great job on your mustang.....can't wait to see more pics. I would like to see this an upcoming trend. I know pnsumatic are rare..... but they are out there. I would especially like to see more crawlers, mudders, or off-road vehicles with pneumatic motors. I think it might apply especially well. BTW.... I am also trying to increase the power of Sheepo's mustang, just went a different route. RC motor instead of pneumatic motor.... already have it done but trying to further modify things. initial tests are promising!
