Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Capt Wolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It's hard for me to tell its full condition from the photos, but it looks like it's just missing sails and rigging; is that correct? If so, and it has all its masts and spars, I'd be ok with you licensing it, although I'd also like to hear from others in leadership on this. @Legostone? @Bregir? -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II

Yes, I think so. Are you looking at building on an island already recognized as belonging to the Sea Rats? If not, it would be considered a squatter settlement and could presumably be appropriated by another faction at some point. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Capt Wolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Incorrect. Plantations are considered to be in "the hinterlands" of a given settlement (essentially, near or in the area of). In the original rules they did not count toward a settlement's status until the settlement reached a certain size, but at some point we discarded that rule. While "plantation" is not one of the categories a settlement needs to advance, a plantation does count toward the total number of builds the settlement needs. So, if you were to build a plantation on an island without a settlement, you would in effect be starting a new settlement and would presumably need a charter from your faction, etc. -

House by the River, King's Harbour, Cocovia
Capt Wolf replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great use of grooved tiles to create the brick texture on the wall of the house! (I'll be stealing borrowing that technique at some point.) And those interior shutters also caught my eye. The olive bricks on the wall near the water are also an especially nice touch (I didn't know they came in that color). A masterful little build -- although I guess it really isn't that little, but it feels that way, which is part of its charm -- and the story to go along with it is excellent. I enjoy seeing this side of the characters that populate BoBS.- 12 replies

For Eslandola's TCs, you can find some of the history and monopoly info here, but it doesn't list members or assets. I'll see about adding at least the membership lists. -
The sign-up deadline for the next Adventure MRCA and Trade MRCA is April 17, midnight, anywhere in the world. ---------------- Players can sign up for both the Adventure MRCA and the Trade MRCA, but individual ships can only participate in one or the other, not both simultaneously. To sign-up for the Adventure MRCA, read the rules here and then sign-up via this form. To sign-up for the Trade MRCA, read the rules here and then sign-up via this form. For a ship to take part in either MRCA, it must be licensed. You can license your ship under the new ship rules via this form. ---------------- Help Wanted: Players who have some time after the MRCA deadline are asked to help out with the AMRCA. The Adventure MRCA requires some GMing, and the more help we have, the quicker we can turn things around and keep the MRCAs on a monthly schedule. Contact @Bregir or @Legostone if you're interested in helping out. ---------------- Consult this map for trade zone numbers before submitting any forms: And here are the trade values as of March 28, 618. CG, sorry to be late to comment. Wonderful work, both story and build! I love the arches and stonework of the fort, and the figure posing and photography is excellent! As someone else commented, I like how the story of the trial and hanging tells us about Oleon's culture as well. Fabulous job!

The hall and gardens are excellent, but the collection of sigfigs steals the show! Great job highlighting the individual figs and their activities. I still need to take my time and take a closer look at all the pics, but a big from me on a fantastic MOC. The ball is sure to be mentioned in the next KPA.

Woo-hoo! I was right. It was #6 for him and #11 for her. Do I win anything? (Just an excuse to revisit this fun build. Again, well done Elostirion!)- 9 replies

[OL - February MRCA Build] The capture of Gregory Decker
Capt Wolf replied to Bodi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Wonderful ships and story! As others have pointed out, the rake of the masts really makes the schooner. And I always wondered what Gregory Decker looked like. Now I know. Will we see anything of Decker's fate in an upcoming build? -
Cool build! I really like that water/underwater technique/structure. Nice job with the boat, too. And a fun story! all around!

We need a couple more judges to finish up, and then a write-up over the weekend, so hopefully we can announce results early next week.

[SR MRCA Reaction] Question of Piracy?

I applaud this tale of Sea Rat industriousness! Good job telling the story! And I still love the build for the Palmetto. -
[SR][FB] The Prio Ship Palmetto
Capt Wolf replied to Roadmonkeytj's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I love what you came up with for the Palmetto! That looks like a splendid little fast trader, and the sails are wonderful! -
Good job illustrating the action. And a great idea to tell a story from an earlier time to get the conflict! Congrats on 1 year in BoBS. I think they say 1 year in BoBS is like 7 years in RL, or something like that.
-
Yes, you certainly can. Gregory Decker is a name NPC pirate from the beginnings of BoBS, so capturing him is a big event, and I will be sorely disappointed if we don't see an MOC this month dealing with his capture. I might even go so far as to say that if I don't see an MRCA-result MOC on his capture by somebody in Oleon, that he might very well manage an escape.
-
It turns out the answer to this question is yes. Upkeep costs are based on what you start with. Actually, I spoke too soon. This is under discussion in leadership.
-
Lovely ship! As others have noted, the posing really makes the scene. I love the billowing sails and the water effects (even with the render issues). Lots of nice details. Well done!

Romantica is also known as Prio, and it is an NPC nation. The NPC ships are not MOC'd, so the required build link just goes to the guide to the NPC nations. If you keep the Palmetto, you'll need to build it before you can use the license. But you've already had your MRCA profit adjusted to reflect the booty you scored from it.
-
I'll look into that and get back to you! Edit: It made the 90 DBs. Consider it a close call on saving the cargo.
