  1. To add to the confusion, I believe it was captured in error, mistakenly identified as a Sea Rat vessel, but it had been captured by Oleon in a previous month.
  2. Another beautiful ship from you! I like that you've used brick-built sails on this one. And I'm really glad you're re-using the cliffside dock! I love that build. It would be a shame for you not to use it.
  3. And you receive all the credit in the posted build. Thanks again for a great prize to your Merrynight mini-challenge.
  4. With the proclamation from the Colonial Council calling for anti-piracy patrols, one captain is ready. At the helm of his brigantine, the captain discusses his plans with one of his trusted crew. And he's off on the hunt! Profile view: --- I know I'm light on story, but just wanted to get this build posted. It's a little retro at the bow, but that's the mood I seem to be in lately. All C&C welcome.
  5. Weelond has an iron foundry, which makes it a Large City!
  6. Cast iron is a valuable commodity in the islands. It's very expensive to ship iron from the mainland, so an iron foundry is an important part of a growing settlement. Here is the iron foundry in Weelond: The iron ore and charcoal needed for the blast furnace are kept in a storage house, near the furnace, but accessible from the street for easy delivery of the raw materials: The furnace is kept going for days on end without cooling down and reaches temperatures of nearly 2000 degrees (note the worker's protective facewear): When ready, a worker breaks the hole to allow the liquid iron to flow out: The molten iron flows into channels, where it cools... ... and is cast into ingots ("pigs") that can be used by blacksmiths to be formed into various items. Here piles of iron ingots can be seen in the background while a customer discusses delivery arrangements. A view from the street: Additional views: With the addition of this iron foundry, which will be licensed as a medium factory, Weelond is now a Large City! ---------- This was built and photographed by @Drunknok as my prize from his Merrynight challenge. I think he did an excellent job!
  7. IMPORTANT: Note that ships sailing in a convoy with a black flag ship will be treated as black flag ships. Don't mix black flag ships in with a trade convoy; the whole trade convoy will be treated as black flag pirates as a result.
  8. Thanks. The sails are custom -- just cream/tan paper cut to official Lego sail sizes. And there is an interior, but it undecorated. Just a tiled deck. But you may notice you can see the silhouette of the captain through the stern windows in the next-to-last photo.
  9. Awesome ship! That's a proper Oleon flagship! It's huge!
  10. Duel! Duel! Duel! It would be like dinner theater!
  11. Thanks! And I think the reflection from the trans-light blue plates is causing the gray hull to appear olive green. Thanks! And thank you for the private tips as well. Thanks! And I definitely look forward to seeing what you do with a stretched version of the Imperial Flagship.
  12. "Yes, of course." Guilder turned to the council scribe, who was already well along in writing out a copy of the proposal for the records. "On February 16, 618, the Eslandola Colonial Council hereby resolves to take up Corrington on their offer of a joint anti-piracy mission, providing that we are only hunting outlaws, not traders who are simply trying to live their lives out from under the yoke of another government." "Details for coordinating ships and destinations for this anti-piracy effort will follow through other communication channels." Guilder took the page from the scribe and handed it to the lieutenant. "Will that be satisfactory, young man?"
  13. "Thank you, Revon. Well said." Guilder scribbled some numbers on the paper on his desk. "By my tally, the proposal passes by a vote of 12 to 4, with 5 abstentions." Guilder turned to the Corrlander lieutenant. "Young man, report to your superiors that Eslandola accepts Corrington's suggestion to mount a joint anti-piracy effort, as specified in the proposal passed by this council, and that we will send word through other channels to work out the details."
  14. Pieter Reyngout got up from his seat in the Sea of Storms delegation, picked up a bottle of Bru-Haha from the crate, uncorked it and took a swig. After a moment's consideration, "That's good stuff!" he exclaimed. "I'll have to look into getting this into my tavern on a regular basis." Back at his desk, he remained standing. "As regards the proposal, I have no quarrel with the Corries, and piracy is bad for business, so I will support it." "I am not certain of our resources to go pirate hunting at this time," began Aaron van der Meede. Reyngout passed him the bottle, and Aaron took a drink. "Ah, mmm, that's good ... er, and the matter in Fuerte Unido seems to be under control, so I will vote Nay," offered Aaron van der Meede, although he was not particularly emphatic in his statement. "Add my 'Yea' vote" offered Guilder from his desk at the front of the hall. "It was my proposal, after all. So that is 2 Yeas and 1 Nay from the Sea of Storms delegation. We only need to hear from the Sea of Thieves delegation now." [nudge @Umbra-Manis]
  15. Willem Guilder sends his congratulations to Governor Cooke, and will be happy to attend the ball. With Thaddeus Calvo busy on an adventure, Calvo's friend Madame Marian Villeneuve will be happy to attend with Governor Guilder. Guilder: Villeneuve: Edit: Also, if you could include Lady Pauline Norrington, a minor Corrish character of mine, in the crowd at the ball, it would be appreciated. Lady Norrington: .
  16. Thanks. I was trying for an interesting color scheme. Glad it worked. Thanks! Yes, the sails are the same size as official Lego sails. As for the center hull sections, they're two rows of inverted 45-degree slopes topped by a plate. If you can get some of the double inverted bricks (like this) for the bottom row, it's a little easier to stabilize the whole structure, but not necessary.
  17. Lovely ship. I love the shape, and your rigging and sails are always excellent. The job on the stern decorations is wonderful; I really struggle with that on my ships. Well done!
  18. Well, setting up trade company offices when detained is certainly making the most of the situation! A welcome addition to Fuerte Unido, and I like that you used the style of the Brickwall Memorial. Very nice! But I think I actually like the interior more -- it looks very comfortable! You do a great job detailing the interior. Good story, too. The lore of BoBS is building over time, and the Battle of the Five Fleets was a major event. Well done all around!
  19. Thanks! And it's brown on the deck, but a dark red stripe on the side. Thanks. I had trouble with the lighting, so the sides are hard to see, but it's a dark red stripe and dark red posts for the railing. And I need to make more sails. I keep moving the ones I have from ship to ship!
  20. I was playing around with some gray hull pieces last week and, inspired by last month's discussion of Ayrlego's receipt of a nearly complete 6271 Imperial Flagship and the subsequent discussion of modifying it, I came up with the following: The lines of set 6271 should be apparent, but the different color scheme really changes the appearance of the ship, as does the stretch modification. Some more views: A view of the stern: Sailing away... All C&C welcome!
  21. Garm, my apologies! I thought I had commented on this build. Fantastic work! Your interiors are always so polished and lush with detail. And the design of the hidden space in the chimney is great! I particularly like the second picture, with the smuggler sticking his head down from the chimney upside-down! And great storytelling as well. Very fun!
  22. But when a state of war exists, the factions certainly do.
  23. The council hall had broken down into private discussions on the matter, with no public debate for the whole membership for some time. When Jerome Monezterrell, Eslandola's Secretary of the Navy as well as Mayor of Fuerte Unido, received word that the Sea Rat ships had been detained and diplomatic discussions were ongoing, Guilder spoke with him at length. Finally, Guilder returned to his desk at the head of the room and gaveled the council to order. "I think we've all had some good conversations on this subject, but it's time to bring it back to public debate." Guilder waited as the last of the private conversations quieted down. "From what I have gathered, the situation in Fuerte Unido is well in hand, and it appears we will be able to resolve the issue peaceably. But piracy is still a problem in the Brick Seas. I believe our naval captains have the ability to discern the difference between peaceful traders from pirates who fly the black. So, I propose that we take up Corrington on their offer of a joint anti-piracy mission. My only concern is that we make it clear that we are hunting outlaws, not traders who are simply trying to live their lives out from under the yoke of another government." Guilder looked around the room, then continued. "Who wants to go pirate hunting? And will someone second this motion so we can vote?!"
  24. Yes. You need to submit an order form for each ship that will participate in the MRCA. Five ships sailing five different routes require submitting five forms. If you are grouping some or all of your ships into a fleet/convoy, however, then only one form needs to be submitted for the group of ships in the fleet/convoy.
  25. Love the trans-clear water, and Amira's changing hair piece is a great effect! Nice intro to Uncle's kids.
