I would go with 60197, basing it solely on I like the colors of the train more. The minifigure selection in that set is better as well, I think. Also, if you can find 60050 at a reasonable price, I highly recommend getting it. It’s fantastic.

Great job capturing his likeness. I’m always amazed by the finer details people are able to get. Good luck getting it to him!

This is great! You really captured the game atmosphere perfectly. It took me back. Some great functions there as well.

[Moc] The defense against the boggart
Vindicare replied to Black Numenorean's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great scene! I like the moving portraits & whatever creature is trying to get out of that box. Turret & stairs are nicely done as well. -
Well, after years...I finally completed the first wave of The Hobbit. Pulled the trigger on 79010 Goblin King Battle. No idea why I missed this one when available...but I did. I blame TNT(tv network for those non American folks)....for showing “An Unexpected Gathering” & reinvigorating my search for this set. Now I just need to wait for it. I love waiting.

I did that for a time, but it made moving them around a bit more time consuming. It did look quite good though. The biggest issue that I remember was the corners. Since you had to move it over to fill the side street, all the Modulars would be off that many studs, if you didn’t MOC anything to fill the space. Ultimately, that was why I stopped doing it that way. Now I just extend the sidewalk area. I take the light grey curb and move it up a few, then add a row or two of dark grey 2x2 tiles, leaving a 2x path of studs as a bike lane. It makes moving a lot easier & secures the Modular baseplate with the streetplate. To make the sidewalks not look too deep, I added both trees & flower areas-2x6 green plate with three flower bunches in between the studs.

That was in relation to the complaints that it isn’t the Visitor Center, which is what a fair number of people had in mind. Which I think is where a lot of disappointment comes from.

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Vindicare replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
They could certainly throw them into playsets. We’ve had random, for the set they’re in, minifigures thrown in before. Like with the next section of Hogwarts, they could throw Moaning Myrtle in, as she’s only seen in the Castle, despite being early on in the series. The other characters are specific to the movies that have been covered in the sets we have. As for as CMS’s that would fit in the sets we have, there are a few that could work nicely.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Vindicare replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Assuming they don’t circle back once they’ve had their initial run at the movies, they could easily use minifigs we didn’t see. Just a few from last & this year, Gilderoy Lockhart, Moaning Myrtle, Tom Riddle, Ginny, Barty Crouch, Igor Karkaroff, Rita Skeeter, Flitwick(1/2 year).- 961 replies

Criticism is fine, but being upset that a set isn’t what you dreamed it up to be in your mind due to a rumor isn’t anyone’s, or anything’s, fault but the person. It’s never the set’s fault that expectations are set too high or too wild based on a rumor or set name, that falls to us. Because with every set, there will always be people who like, love, dislike, & hate it. That’s what a fan community is about. Speculating is fun, I enjoyed the drawings of AS that people shared, and all the other ideas that people want a particular set to be. I’m not against any of that, people just shouldn’t use that against the actual set.
-
But the rumor & speculation is to blame, not the set. Using Modulars as an example. I remember a lot of people cooking up some crazy ideas for what Assembly Square should look like. Then it didn’t meet expectations. Repeat for pretty much every Modular. If people let rumors run wild & it ruins the reveal, that’s not the set’s fault.

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
Vindicare replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Ditto. That beautiful coral aside, it was such a fun build & the end result is quite satisfying. It’s a great looking ship-bus with a fantastic interior & nice play features. The shape of the thing & its a really solid set. -
It’s meant to be a display piece though, making it minifigure scale would’ve been an underwhelming D2C(as it sits). It needed to have some heft to it. I can’t imagine them not doing either one, or both, of the vehicles at some point, guessing in the next wave of movie offerings, if we get there. They could always throw it in like they did the last JP set. They do love vehicles.
-
After watching the interview & seeing the actual set...the T-Rex is quite a bit bigger than the picture makes it seem. Now I see where the bulk of those 3K pieces went. I’m curious how many of you would be disappointed had the Visitor Center not gotten into your heads?

10 -1 point 11 -1 point 12 -1 point What great entries! It was tough picking. -
That has to be it. I can’t see them not making a vehicle of all things...
-
The reception of your set has nothing to do with your set. People got the idea in their heads that something was coming...and it didn’t. Now, they’re taking it out on this set. I imagine you are correct in thinking that once people get a better look at it, and have time to get over the funk of being disappointed, they’ll come around to appreciating the set. I think it’s a well designed set that hits the mark well. It’s a great display piece & the T-Rex looks like it’ll be fun to build.

Oh dear...knowing how many Ninjago City Chase sets you own, you won’t be leaving one box of the babies set behind. -
Jurassic World 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Vindicare replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
The complaints sound a lot like the Modular discussion once we’ve heard the name...and finally see a picture. A bunch of moping & whining because it wasn’t what some people thought it should be... Now, I haven’t been following this thread to know how solid the Visitors Center was. From that perspective, I can understand the disappointment...but rumors aren’t always real. Taking the set on it’s own, it’s really good. It’s a nice shelf piece, as intended. Looks to be a decent build. Making the T-Rex the focal point is rather fitting, as it was the real star. -
Lovely build, you packed quite a bit in there. I really like the alcoves on the first floor, makes for a nice display.
-
Great tribute here. Cool MOC as well, you did a good job recreating the craft.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Vindicare replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
That would be great fun. I would certainly prefer a 50’s era one as that is what I picture. It would be a nice addition to the current era style the Modulars are living in.
