What about the giant troll from the Mines of Moria set? That one is definitely too wide, but it would be a more accurate height, I think. I’ll have to go dig mine out & compare it to Hagrid.

Fake Lego toymaker taken down in China
Vindicare replied to doug72's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I hope this is the first of many articles like this. It’s kinda shocking to see the pictures of all those piles of pieces, boxes, and molds...and it’s only the tip of the iceberg. -
I’d argue that is one reason to post things. It’s certainly understandable to want your stuff appreciated & to know, with comments, that people do. However, taking it out on an entire community when that want isn’t met is strange. Perhaps a different approach would be to ask why you aren’t receiving little to no communication on your MOCs. That’s why I chimed in. I don’t build MOCs, but I can understand your feeling. Putting a lot of work into something, something that you would expect to get recognition. Then that doesn’t happen, it would irk plenty of people I’m sure. And that is a big reason for forums like this, discussion. I do post pictures on Instagram of my own making or of my town. I do it for myself because I’ve come to enjoy taking pictures of my minifigs. They’re not particularly good(in the sense that there’s no effects created or some fancy camera used), but I post them in the hopes that some people will like them too. They do, a bit. But I don’t bite the heads of people because I don’t get more.

I’m going to amend my original statement slightly. You shouldn’t be done with this place, because it really is a great site. Just tone it down on the general community bashing. To echo what was said above, post things because you like it, not because you’re hopng others will. It’s great to get recognition & appreciation for something you did, of course...but don’t let that drive you.

These are fantastic! Love everything about Expecto Patronum, my goodness the stag is incredible. The Clocktower is an amazing addition. The table decorations are awesome. I don’t get the complaints of the rom sizes...that’s been consistent throughout HP, going back to the last releases(anybody remember the library?). Horntail is disappointing, tent looks good however. Hagrid’s Hut is wonderful. I like the printed doors quite a bit. And of course Buckbeak & the new pumpkins. Another home run with the range of minifigs, even Hermione. She would be too tall had she had the dress piece.

Definitely. But don’t take your frustration out in the community as a whole & act like it’s some stuck up society when that isn’t the case. Again, I’ve seen plenty of MOCs, big & small, both in digital & physical brick that don’t get a lot of comments. It seems to me it doesn’t have anything to do with your MOC’s not actually being built. It’s just the way it is around here.

Well, I’m going to be blunt. Good, be done with here. Frankly, your attitude & hurt feelings won’t be missed. Not getting the acknowledgment YOU feel is deserved isn’t the fault of money, or a lackthereof, or some “club.” It just happens. I’ve seen more than a handful of builds that have zero to few comments, but plenty of views. And those are even physical builds. So no, it’s not LDD. Because we also have plenty of digital creations that get plenty of comments. As for the complaint, I do feel bad for people who posted their works with views but in comments. I try to give them something, but it doesn’t always happen.

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Vindicare replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
There’s a lot to like! The new overalls print with the dark orange(I think) in the 4+ Garage set. That coffee cup in the fire chief car is fantastic. A lot of those prints in the Fair pack, and that new black hairpiece is lovely. Lastly, that pedal cart! One rather large gripe I have, is with the “donut” shop. Why is it yet another coffee shop?! I get that coffe shops sell donuts...but why would a coffee shop have a massive donut signage atop it. Still buying it of course. I’d love if that crane truck & motorcycle cop weren’t there though. -
What happened with Functions/Play Features?

Personally, I don’t mind your topic choices. They’re great conservation starters, albeit a bit too much on the negative side. Keep ‘em coming I say. -
What happened with Functions/Play Features?

Well, I can confirm the Galaxy Squad set you mentioned is alive & well in 76114 Spider-Man’s Spider-Crawler, I just finished taking it apart. Just looking at what sets I’ve built recently, 70829 Escape Buggy has a launching feature, 70835 Rexplorer has a smaller shuttle that detaches from the main one. Pretty much every Superheroes set has at least one. They’re out there. -
Heh, that’s a great idea! It looks pretty good. Excellent choice of minifigure. I imagine it went through quite the cleaning...getting that smell out takes some work I bet.

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion

There’s plenty of whining from everyone to go around... -
Oh my gosh...the puns! They were terribly fantastic.

Not that I needed this teaser, but I am excited. Digging the new on screen TIE...assuming that’s Kylo Ren, although could it be that Major Vonreg? His LEGO TIE does have more red to than this one though. Seeing Lando, reminiscent of his squeal of joy in the OT. And that ending...woo boy. As as an aside, watching Celebration, it was very nice seeing Kelly Marie Tran get such a welcoming applause from those attending.

Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

Sadly, I jumped the gun on posting... My order got cancelled about an hour later. Apparently it got mistakenly put in the system. I was told it would be a few weeks. To find it though, I just searched “Lego 30452 Walmart.” Hopefully you’ll have better luck. -

Just saw two Rexcelsiors in Target. They weren’t exactly showcased, just shoved on a shelf sideways in between other sets of the theme. I didn’t bother trying to buy though...already got shut down on trying to buy a “not yet released but on the shelf” set... -
Exactly. I just don’t understand the griping that comes with the blind bags by TLG. It’s not something they cooked up in oreder to get more money out of people, we all know they have no problems getting our money. It’s just a fun gimmick that adds a little surprise value in getting who you wanted...or disappointment at not. Unless you’re like the feelers, then you know what you get.

LEGO MOVIE - The ... END ? Please Help me find a title.
Vindicare replied to Santa's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That....is a lot of elves. I didn’t know Santa’s workshop was on Kamino?! I really like the whole portal section with the planet container there, great use of the parts. -
I’m not sure how blind bags being used is not acceptable? They aren’t the first toy company to use them. One that has always stuck from my childhiod were “Trash Bag Bunch” toys. As the name suggests, they were in black bags. And while not completely the same, the old quarter machines in front of grocery stores & the like we’re essentially blind buys.

I would say yes(only slightly so) & no. They can make or break a set. But to me it’s when the set itself looks like an after thought is when it comes in that minifigs seem overrated. I’ll use 76008 Iron Man vs. The Mandarin: Ultimate Showdown. Now, I can usually appreciate small builds where others don’t, but there’s no defending that mess. But throwing in Heartbreaker armor made this go from pass to buy for me. As you put it, Lego_David, minifigs are accessories to the set.

Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

Well, I “found” the Iron Man polybag. I cheated & did the store pick up option. I’m normally a hunter, but I really didn’t want to miss this one, need the full team in matching suits. -

Well, I found the rule following cashier at Target...went back this morning for the Hydro Man set, but said can’t sell until the 22nd. -
REVIEW: 76123 Captain America: Outriders Attack

Those disc shooters are what ruins the bike I think, they make it look a lot bigger than it is. Brick built bikes have always been a bit too chunky, but this is too much so. I wonder how it would look without them? -

Ugh...last week I checked, having Brickseek show 15 at mine, but there was none in their system. -
They do, but it seems very rare. The only instance I’ve seen is an exclusive print mime head. It has triangles above & below the eyes.
