  1. OK, to those who are complaining about stickers: THOSE WILL NOT BE IN THE FINAL SET. It's camo, deliberately added in to blur the lines of the car. Automakers do it in real life. About the only reason I knew it's the 991 GT3 RS is that I distinguished enough of the features to tell it is the RS, but the stickers will be fewer on the final reveal (badges, gauges).
  2. And you, sir, are right. Crikey, I mean that's spot-on and well-made.
  3. It's the RS. It's the goddamn RS. It's the Porsche 991 GT3 RS. And my guess? They're gonna reveal the entire thing, including the color, come Geneva Auto Show. The bodywork is uncannily accurate, and, from what the others commented, is pretty darn packed with functions. Whether or not it'll be as faithful as the real thing remains to be seen, but moly holy.
  4. Tires are beast, but I wonder how heavy they actually are, and I'm curious as to how the rims look like.As for the crane... eh, that can be touched up.
  5. No, it's actually touching 4000 parts. As for the model itself, the aesthetics aren't much to write home about (must have been the gray vertical beams), yes, but hot peppers that is one beast. What a beast. This is one set that would be impressive to see at work.
  6. F__k. Wicked stuff. And to think that this isn't even the flagship model.
  7. Right, then, looks like I was away for far too long. Airport rescue vehicle, eh? Should be a pleasant surprise like the Fire Plane last year. Volvo excavator sounds regular, but if they have that 1x11 cylinder and they have many, cool! Should make my dream micro-crane come true. Class Xerion is a winner here. It's pretty loaded for a not-really-a-flagship set, even with the wiggle room that the license provides. Nice Price, too. The BWE is the kind of set whose first photos will absolutely make this thread go KA-BOOM!!!, but there's a particular facet of the set that intrigues me: the conveyor system. What's it gonna run on, and what's the belt gonna look like? Hmm... so Chris from Brickset is seeing 911 GT3 RS, it'll have new arches, and... where's the RC?
  8. Mmm, new airport stuff. I'm curious about the fuselage parts and its expandability.
  9. Isn't there LEGO Worlds? And isn't that still in Steam Early Access? Maybe they're cutting LDD out for now to optimize Worlds?

  12. It's not a gun. That's called a tonfa. You're supposed to hold it so the long end is underneath the arm and points to the elbow. But eh, if it's held like a gun... albeit there are less-lethal ones. That, or y'all just reading too much on this. I mean, dude, the bad guy's got a freaking bomb and his wingman can wield the ball like an Olympic hammer.
  13. a. The big Porsche set is the star of the show. Making the first prototype winner and the newest prototype winner the subject is inspired, and the cars themselves are spot-on. The 919, in particular, would be second-guessed as a metal model from a bit further out. The 917K isn't too shabby, albeit the front end can be lower and use more curves (1x4 curved slope, perhaps?) b. That said, the pit area stands up so well to the quality of the cars. Almost a full suite of pretty much everything one can find in top-tier competition, and I wouldn't even mind the stickers (in fact, I want re-prints of all the monitor stickers for the theme, because they're useful, same for all the race cars, the 919 in particular), plus a cool play-value-added way to load & unload cars. c. I'd have wanted a more period-correct minifig for the 917K driver, but that's my only nitpick. Pre-final score:     /10 GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!! Hmm... I adore the R18 e-tron quattro, and in particular, how the sides are shaped, but I think it's a few studs too short to make said good side job stand out. Pre-final score:     /10 worthy adversary, but like in real life, falls short to the mighty Porsche. a. OK, so I say the R8 LMS ultra's front is the laziest of the bunch, but then I don't think Hoexbroe's technique is legal either. Now that I think about it, though, those new 2-stud wedges could do the trick. b. The side blade solution works, and works well. c. I wouldn't know if the R8 works as an R8 until the giant (and nice) wing comes off, but I think it'll represent an actual R8 well. Pre-final score:     /10 does the job, but only good enough. Between the two Camaros, I like the older, black one better. The new one just doesn't match up (though... are those stacked wedge plates on the grille?) from the front end to the back. Pre-final score:     /10 Z/28 is newer Camaro is The Corvette, though. Dear God the Corvette just shines. Everything about it is accurate and well-rendered, and surprisingly lends well to the one-seat City-style format. I was right about the front being a sticker, but it's fine by me. Pre-final score:     /10 I want it. a. The great, big problem with the Mustang, for me, is how far the headlights are set. THEY'RE RIGHT AT THE SIDE OF THE CAR, DANG-FREAKING-NABBIT!!! b. The rest of the car, though? pretty spot-on, actually. Lines and shapes are accurate to the real thing, and the new 2-line 5-spoke fits the model. Pre-final verdict:     /10 Fix the front, then we'll talk. a. While the hot rod isn't as earth-shattering as Calin's builds, it works like a charm. It's effective at being a Model A custom rod, and designed well. b. The same, sadly, cannot be said for the Ford Raptor. Look at this photo of the real thing. Now come back to the LEGO one. Look at the real thing, then go back to the catalog shot. Do it repeatedly. After doing 60 reps, here's what I think: the accuracy, while good, is less elegant than even the R8, but what really gets my goat is that the truck seems way too short--or the camera angle is off-putting for the truck. Either way, while it is representative Ford Raptor, it isn't as nice as I imagined it to be. c. As for the rest of the playset, it's ace. The drag tree, the garage, even the engine picker that's useful if one wants to fry turkey next Thanksgiving, all complement the set in a good way. Pre-final score:     /10 May need some modifying All in all, the momentum this theme already has on Wave 1 gets boosted big-time, with accurate and lovely models backed by excellent diorama pieces. The new wedge pieces and hubcaps are welcome additions, and recolors are welcome. For sticker-phobes, deal with it . For Le Mans fans and muscle fans, it's time to party. For me, I breathe a sigh of relief, and I smile. This theme will go a long way. If you find this long-winded, sorry. If you don't agree with me, be my guest, just don't come out guns-ablaze.
  14. This. It never sank in to me until you pointed it out, but now...
  15. Any news about anything related to this theme, for that matter? Hey, TLG, we've ran out of salivary gland replacements!
  16. Instructions for some City sets are live here!
  17. Suddenly Wolverine. Also, Jim there was quoted to have said that 42052's B-model looks like a guinea pig, though personally I find the B-model just as impressive. Can you confirm the guinea pig quote?
  18. One hero will now have just enough of that pullback motor to create one ultimate machine, thanks to this.
  19. Medium Azure... is it the same as the Maesrk Blue released in Maersk sets? Anyway... good thing the chassis and bodywork builds are separate. Should make for an interesting contest in the near future, what with the seeming modularity of the chassis/drivetrain.
  20. "Looking at the front of the B-model I am not very tempted to build it. It looks like a flying guinea-pig" *pages Sariel* Anyway... mama mia, what a helo! Impressive functionality, looks that make you do a spit-take... gah, if only I wasn't so poor.
  21. Huh, so looks like they didn't start with fig-scale Lady Liberty to scale it. Anyway... this set has some damn lookers, even One WTC.
  22. See? LEGO can into churches. Anyway... hmm... I don't really feel this, largely because I wanted a more majestic version of the basilica.
  23. What sorcery is happening on the crane boom and superstructure? It's all I need, because I want to replicate the technique and elongate it for a 15-axle uber-crane with sideways superlift. Slightly better view of the crane boom itself: Photos and models by Robert Heim (top, bottom)
  24. Doesnt' seem to look like a representative F1 GTR to me, but it looks neat either way.
  25. So I guess the fig-scale Lady Liberty IS off-scale.
