the ones in the front draw air into the radiators and the fans (single bevel 20z) push the air out of the engine deck.also the turret is cramped (i couldn't even fit a AAA battery pack in there and i'm not really a fan of lego spring powered missiles, i would prefer to make my own mechanism for greater range.

Efferman's Custom Parts
Tommy Styrvoky replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
here is a interesting idea for a part, Make a watertight compartment for a battery box, IR receiver (probably will need a transparent cover for receiver ) and 2 motors (2 xls or 1 xl and servo. Have outputs for the motors, and allow for easy access to battery box switch. I think that this part would be useful for boat builders because then you wouldn't have to worry about PF parts getting wet. The only problem is to get rubber rings to seal outputs and the main compartment. -
The Hummer

I have had some similar problems with the transmission in my tiger I, under torque gears push on the axle and force it out. The gear and axle probably fell out on the ground somewhere. -
Flight using Lego

You guys forgot about how much damage Lego guns that shoot bricks can do. I have build a few of them and they are very powerful when reinforced with technic beams and lots of rubber bands are used.- 157 replies

a quadcopter might be strong enough to provide lift for a battery box, the only problem is how to get enough rpms out of a buggy motor. it also eliminates the need for airfoil.- 157 replies

a rail system with a sled to assist the build up to a high enough speed could be used to help it get off of the ground. you could use esties rockets to propel the sled to a high enough speed.- 157 replies

Flight using Lego
Tommy Styrvoky replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
what about using a small LPE to power the vehicle, it would provide sufficient torque and RPMs to fly, the only problem is the air tank, i don't know if using lego air tanks would provide enough pressure. possibly a tethered cord to a compressor or a custom air tank.- 157 replies

What about using a helium fueled balloon that would make the build float but could be controlled by propellors on the side.- 157 replies

[WIP][HELP] Band Saw

Couldn't you just have the blade tensioned on the upper wheel and have the upper and lower guides on the table keep the blade forced on the edge (not the center) of the wheels. -
nice to see you joined, any more tank builds coming in the future ?
-
yeah it provides a constant tension on the axis of the barrel so it eliminates lash with the linear actuator , I might have to mess around with a system for a stabalizer.

If you mounted them on the pivot point it could prevent unneccicary sway of barrel when going over small bumps and if the barrel and counterweights are heavy enough to move the springs. Also sariel used a counterweight system in his leopard 2 but the barrel couldn't elevate.

It's a very versitile part, it can be used for return to center steering, toson bar suspension. Here is a example for stabilizing some gun sway for heavier barrels, I have used this technique in some of my builds and it works very well. I'm not sure if you want the barrel to stabalize with the ground when moving or to prevent barrel sway up and down. http://www.mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=266873&id=/user_images/75123/1304490298m https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/100480897@N07/9986473564/

well here is the progress of it so far, though it's still over 200 pieces , I am starting to simplify it. The tracks and lower assembly take almost half of the percent of parts used. I might replace the tracks with rubber ones, then i can improve the main superstructure by 64 parts. functions movable tracks turnable superstructure adjustable shovel height adjustable range of shovel opening shovel 200pc Lego Electric Mining shovel by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr

It could be possible with hockey springs or counter weights.

maybe make the hull <30 studs wide and smooth the hull out with tiles. That should make it less chunky, and possibly add equpment (tools, spare road wheel) and sideskirts.
