  1. Some more progress on the rear portion of the vehicle, The revised engine is partially complete, i'm still trying to figure out how to attach the upper headers to the main block/valve linkages. It's also missing the small details on the sides of the engine block. 2. The engine components removed Lego Renault FT-17 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  3. the engine bay has been mostly built (besides some of the engine) here is the reference photo for the engine bay, it's from a Takom 1/16 model (around the same size as my MT build) Most of the engine is complete, though it needs some small revisions that need to be done. 4. it's not finished yet, it's still missing the engine compartment details
  5. I built the octangular turret , it's complete with a small interior. It includes the breech and breech guard. This part caused quite a lot of headaches because of its tapered, round shape, and don't forget mostly hollow. It seems slightly too large but i think that may be caused by the lack of the rear tail portion of the tank. 6. Some more progress was done on the interior, I have a rough idea for making a turret ring that will allow it to be open like in the real model but as with lego it's difficult to make circles that are hollow and 8 studs in diameter. If the custom ring doesn't work a regular 7 wide turntable could be used and made removable for viewing the interior. I increased some of the dimensions of the model because of the tracks being 3 studs wide instead of 2.4 Lego Renault FT-17 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego Renault FT-17 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  7. true, Model team builds are usually designed for static models that would be displayed on a shelf.
  8. it will be reinforced, it seems to operate fine without any errors.
  9. Lego Renault FT-17 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego Renault FT-17 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr I built the right tracks and suspesnion, also the beams that hold the tracks together aren't the correct length .
  10. the upper beam, it's pivot point is the grey 4L axle with stop

  12. I have began work on the suspension bogies and i think i have a accurate design similar to the real FT-17 (minus the leaf springs) here's how it operates, it has a standard bogie system that's paired with another bogie and it can move on a secondary fulcrum attached to a leaf spring. Lego Renault FT-17 suspension bogies by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego Renault FT-17 suspension bogies by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego Renault FT-17 suspension bogies by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr this suspension isn't complete, its missing the upper return rollers, these will have the spring at the front and help act as a track tensioner.
  13. No, I will be using 3 wide tracks. They are a little too short length wise but I don't have enough parts to build custom tracks. Also could I suggest for the model scaler, maybe have it round to the nearest plate thickness instead of tenths .
  14. some photos of the chassis with all of the studed parts removed. 15. New instructions available here. This tank is one of the first mass-produced armored fighting vehicles of WWI, it's one of the first vehicles to have a conventional layout ( driver in front, turret in center, and engine in rear.) This model will feature a interior, working engine, suspension, opening hatches, and other details of the vehicle. here are the blueprints that have been scaled Lego Renault FT-17 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego Renault FT-17 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  16. I will be changing my mind on the model A and be building a military creation, a Renault FT-17 or a Universal carrier with 2 pounder Also is there a required scale for the models ?
  17. the part wasn't modified, it was just removed from the casing, it could easally be put back into the casing like it originally was.
  18. Lego Prowler (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr This was a fun to build and fun to drive, it's my fastest tracked vehicle that I have ever built, it utilizes the Red Beast's chassis assembly to power the tracks. The Red Beast is a Lego RC car from 2003, it is the slower and weaker than the Dirt Crusher. So if a system like this was implemented on a Dirt Crusher chassis it would have better performance than this build. 19. Lego Vulcan cannon WIP by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr This was something that i stumbled upon when I was digging through my parts, I found one of the light up tools from the Lego Inika bionicle series. I removed the 3 screws from the casing and there were 2 clips retaining the light assembly in the casing. With the light brick removed, I thought It could be used for a machine gun mount. That concept worked well but I wanted to take it to the next level... so a bigger gun that is more complex. So I present a WIP 20MM vulcan cannon, it may be used as a CWIS system or mounted on a tank chassis. lego vulcan cannon (motorized+ muzzle flash) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr lego vulcan cannon (motorized+ muzzle flash) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr lego vulcan cannon (motorized+ muzzle flash) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr lego vulcan cannon (motorized+ muzzle flash) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr

  21. Tagged ! by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr a photo of me and the T28 Super heavy tank
  22. I fixed the problem, I just lowered the beam, it improved the performance a lot.Update it now has suspension, the gear issue was resolved, i added beams on the tracks. Lego Prowler by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  23. I have harnessed the power of the beast... Lego Prowler by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr but there are some slight problems that need to be worked out Lego Prowler by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr here's how they are attached Lego Prowler by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  24. I was diging through some of my old stuff in our attic and I found the red beast , after putting new batteries in it. After some thought, I was wondering if anyone had ever converted the existing axles on it to standard axles (without modifing parts). I would like to use the drive motors for a tank chassis and the steering could be used for braking a track.
