  1. My best guess is that there's been a glitch with your order or the availability checker on BnP is sufffering similar issues to the S@H availability checker, but I'd contact CS for a definite answer if it doesn't ship in the timeframe quoted for delivery. My round 1x1 plates (at least the black ones) did show as out of stock soon after my order back in late January, hence the .
  2. No problem. In my case, it was that I placed an order with a certain part (both times was 1x1 round plates with holes, first black, then white), then get confirmation email. Five minutes later I got a backorder email, and the online order status for that part read either "out of stock" or "waiting for new stock" (can't remember which one it was). But then the next day the same part read "in warehouse" (even called CS to check) and the whole order was shipped a few days after. This was back when BnP opened at the end of January though, the time where their shipping was miraculously fast compared to shipping times this month. It sounds like your case might be slightly different to mine though, but I hope it's resolved soon anyway
  3. Well, E and S are close together enough on the keyboard so it's no biggie. I do it myself after all You're correct, it's PoJ. But you did point out something on PoS - I forgot I removed the piston add-on for another build, and forgot to buy another to replace it! Same reason why PoF's armour is now gold instead of silver, I borrowed his silver piston add-on for another build. The actual modification there is the addition of back armour. PoE - it's the same basic body build, just added some back shells and probably moved a pin or two about (can't remember, I did it back in January). I personally like long-staffed hammer with spike - I wanted to keep as many of the original elements that came with PoE as possible. Also PoW has more dark azure (which made me invent the rather fragile propeller arrangement you see) to match it's mask.
  4. I've had this twice this year (had OOS emails annd everything, it was rather bizarre) but it didn't seem to be affecting the length of the order process for me, I was informed by Customer Service that it was a glitch. Recently, BnP orders have been taking upwards of a week to ship from the warehouse even if everything's in stock. If you're concerned of how long your order might be stuck for, I'd ring Customer Service and they'll advise you
  5. Do you mean PoE for the second Protector you mentioned? The trans purple you mention appears in PoE, not PoS, but easy mistake/typo to make Anyway, all this new talk about Protectors reminded me to share my minor modifications to the Protector sets. They're only very minor mods, I don't think they warrant their own topic. Guess which one out of the 6 has not had any modification done Modified Bionicle Protectors by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Modified Bionicle Protectors by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I'm still waiting on the Ninjago Master Wu Dragon to be released so I can give PoI white feet.
  6. Brickset's inventory is imported direct from LEGO's customer service inventory. This often can have discrepancies and missing parts (as in this case), so is not always the most reliable inventory source. May I introduce Bricklink's inventory of the set, the inventory that most people use when endeavouring to build their own 10179, which states it has 5,174 pieces (but it doesn't count minifig parts, which is 19 of them. Counting them and the one item of Gear that inventory lists, that brings the parts number to 5,194), thus I'd say out of the two, the Rebrickable inventory is correct. The 5,195th part is likely the minifig head listed in the extra parts section of Bricklink's inventory, but I'm not sure since I've never owned 10179 myself. Hope that helps
  7. I don't know if it's supposed to be doing that, but it's been adding to cart in the UK S@H for the last 20 days. Seems there's a discrepancy between brand retail stores and S@H terms here, as I went to a brand retail store on the 14th, made about £130 in purchases (none of it Elves) and wasn't given the poly. In the UK it's supposed to be with £25 of Elves, Friends or Disney Princess purchases, but S@H seems to be ignoring the set type conditions. I'm probably ordering from S@H on Friday (when I get paid again), I might get the polybag then if S@H doesn't remove it! Also, S@H is still acting up, still the same cart problems with a pre-prepared cart as I stated before, having to delete something before it works, and it's up and down like a yo-yo
  8. Glad to help out! I do recommend grabbing the LEGOLAND Entrance with Family if you visit, plenty of bricks there for £12.99, and it's the most likely of the three I linked to to be in stock this year. Also, this thread has somehow made me realise that I must be the only person in the UK that hasn't gone or planning to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter yet Maybe one day when I'm not spending all my money on LEGO or travelling to geologically interesting places.
  9. Well, since I live only 10 miles away from LEGOLAND Windsor and have taken several of my friends there (including a fellow AFOL a similar age to me who I've become good friends with), and have had an Annual Pass to there for the past, what, 6 years, and have been a somewhat regular visitor for the last 14 years, suppose I better chime in. If this matters, I'm 21 with no kids. The main draw for an AFOL is obviously Miniland, from what I've heard anyway. There is more than plenty there to look at and marvel in just that section, with representations of many towns and cities in Europe (but surprise surprise, many of them are scenes from England, Wales and Scotland). But you will notice the difference between models that have been there since the park's opening 19 years ago and models put there last year (and not just in the retired colours!). They also have a Star Wars Miniland if Star Wars is more your thing, with 7 dioramas. It's one of my favourite areas of the park, so it's well worth a look when you're there. But there is more to it than just the Miniland of course. The rest of the park is absolutely full of LEGO models both big and small, so it makes sense to go on all the rides just to see them. And the rides themselves can be fun even for adults, and in terms of a theme park, apart from the fact that it is LEGO-themed, it does have some unique rides also which are worth checking out, such as Atlantis Submarine Voyage. The shops are decent enough as well, the Big Shop is more than twice as big than all the LEGO brand stores I've been to, and also sells LEGOLAND exclusive merchandise (please note I'm not sure if all the things I link to are still sold, I think they are but they might not be...) on top of everything that a normal LEGO Brand Store sells (with one big exception: Pick a Brick. Well, there is a PaB wall, but it's located in the small shop at the exit of Laser Raiders, and it's really kind of overpriced at £20 a bag comparable to a large PaB cup and mostly basic bricks anyway). Also, there's a Last Chance shop, which sells recently discontinued sets at a discount, usually 10% but some can see up to 25% off. Sometimes there's some real gems in there (once it had the MF Zombies set at a time where it was the only place in the UK to still hold stock of them at the time). One word of advice if you do go though: Don't visit during British school holidays (the 2 weeks surrounding Easter, early May and July and August) unless you don't mind insane crowds. A couple of years back I went in July, and I am not kidding, it was crammed so full it was a struggle to walk through certain areas. Weekends are probably best avoided also. Also... the price is almost £50 per person at the gates (but I haven't checked latest prices), and another £4 if you bring a car into the car park. Of course, that is extremely expensive (I don't know how entry prices to other LEGOLAND parks compare), but it's about the standard price to many large UK theme parks. It's quite a bit cheaper to buy a ticket in advance. To say "to book in advance is a necessity" is perhaps an understatement But, all things considered, I think it's worth making at least one visit there as an AFOL, even if only for the Miniland, as I think there's enough there for an AFOL to enjoy looking around. For UK residents especially, if the entry price puts you off, there are things out there that can reduce the cost of entry. But I may be slightly biased since I use a Merlin Annual Pass (excellent value for money, but that's off topic ) Hopefully that helps anybody trying to make up their mind on whether to visit.
  10. Appears I might be the first to utilise the custom Protector torso in something entirely non-human in appearance. The torso, with a couple of simple extensions, I found to be absolutely perfect for a dragon, so I built Golden Furious off it. So here we are: Golden Furious by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr And a slightly horrible picture showing the Protector torso in use in the model: Don't think this is the last MOC you'll see from me using this build: I still have more ideas but they have to wait until a large-ish BL order arrives
  11. The only reason for the size difference in the feet is because I only had 2 of each type that weren't tied to other builds. I wanted to do all small feet originally, like what the Ninjago Titanium Dragon or Master Wu Dragon has (since Golden Furious is a similar size). Oh, and ignore where I say 100% purist (though it's easily changed). I got so hung up on how I managed to use official LEGO sails for the wings that I forgot I used a magic erasered Tahu chestplate
  12. Golden Furious by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr So, this is my second attempt at a CCBS dragon, and this time it is 100% purist everywhere. It is much smaller than the Okoto Dragon, however it gave me the chance to try some more intricate techniques, especially for the head (which I think I tried building at least 5 times before I got it right). It features full articulation, right down to a poseable jaw and folding wings. The torso is actually constructed off a derivative of one of Rayskull's alternate protector builds (which also goes to show how versatile the torso is). Here's some pictures: Golden Furious by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Golden Furious by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Positive and constructive comments welcome. I hope you enjoyed looking at this MOC
  13. Yeah, I've been having problems with the site since last year, though nowhere near as bad as what some people seem to be struggling with it seems. It really seems a bit hit-and-miss though, some days it's working absolutely fine, some days it will crash back to the S@H front page when I try to access orders. Even when I'm trying to add Bricks and Pieces orders, it will often crash and not add it to cart, resulting in me starting all over again, that's the most frustrating. It's such a problem, I've had to take the precaution of copying the pre-S@H BnP summary (the bit with the terms and conditions) to Word so if S@H crashes, I can replicate the order quickly and try again. I also had a pre-prepared cart prior to the start of double VIP, and it too suffered with perpetual loading on the 14th until I deleted a keychain out of it. Then it worked somewhat normally Needless to say, I only use S@H for Bricks and Pieces orders, I rarely buy sets from there anymore because the site is so unreliable. I've even mentioned it to UK customer service and they've acknowledged there is a problem with the site. No idea if they've done anything about it, this was about a month ago now. I always prefer to go take a trip to the LEGO Store, even if the parking at my local (Westfield London) is £2.80 an hour. That probably says a lot about how much I dislike using S@H, if I'm prepared to pay such an hourly rate on top of petrol costs to get my LEGO
  14. You know, part of me is really hoping that some of the other things seen in the game do make it into sets - it'd be great to get some new dinosaurs. I don't really like the Studios spinosaur as it does look incredibly outdated in my opinion (moreso than the other dinosaur they haven't remade yet, the Stegosaurus), and really I'm not satisfied enough to just stick a sail piece onto a T-Rex (there is so many things wrong with that, trust me, it wouldn't even be in the slightest bit accurate anyway). Most of what you say is very true. Logic says the dinosaurs were colours like brown, green etc. I can say that, as somebody who studied vertebrate palaeontology at university, which included the study of dinosaurs and their descendants, there's no evidence to prove the colour of non-feathered dinosaurs, so who knows, T-Rex might have been bright pink Feathered dinosaurs (such as some of the raptors/dromaeosaurs for example) are a slightly different matter in regards to dinosaur colours, we can actually determine the pigmentations in those if the feathers are well-preserved, so we can make a reasonable assumption of their colours. Sorry, I just had to add that I suppose as long as the dinosaurs we're getting are reasonably accurate to the upcoming movie in colour (the movie may or may not be accurate to real-life dinosaur colours, we don't know), then I'm happy.
  15. Interesting, I never thought of replacing keetorange with trans-bright green on Lewa. I could have done with doing that so I could pinch the keetorange shells for an MOC I made a few days ago! I still somehow wish that Pohatu was reddish brown and/or dark tan, because now I find myself needing lots of both these rare CCBS colours for an MOC. Typical! I'll be honest though, the main weak point in all the Toa (and the Protectors to some extent, but not quite as bad since it's only present in gatling gun cores) is the use of yellow to indicate a function. It wouldn't be so bad if it was all covered, but it's not and I feel it jars with all (except Gali, since the blue and yellow do go well together). Needless to say, the first mod I did with all except Gali was swap yellow for black in the gearbox. Just personal taste of course.
  16. Guess I'll throw 2 pennies in on Pohatu. There's nothing wrong with the boomerangs on mine, they do stay in place even when you rotate the gear knob a few times. But I can see why people might dislike them. They're a real headache to incorporate into a cool pose, whether he's holding them or wearing them. And yeah, he's the one with the least pieces overall, however I think his parts do go some way to make up for that. He's probably one of my lesser favourites of all the Toa, but by absolutely no means is he the worst set I have ever bought (quite a few of the Hero Factory Brain Attack sets for example were easily worse in my opinion). What would have made Pohatu awesome would have been an integrated ability to enable Pohatu to throw the boomerang when the gearknob was rotated. But I understand that would have been near impossible anyway, so this is no more than useless post-release wishful thinking
  17. I generally like what you've done here, I'm in love with that genius gearbox build Now I desperately want to try and build it myself so I can have an MOC that can go round punching masks off Toa and Protectors But I'll be honest: I am not at all mad on the head, especially the horns. I feel they'd be better if you did something as simple as rotate them to point forwards, I don't know. Also, I'd replace the yellow with black in the gear system, as it is it is far too jarring/distracting against the black/purple/silver colour scheme. But I had this complaint with the Toa as well so there you go
  18. Thanks. The keetorange was supposed to represent exposed skin, but I don't think I pulled it off very well here partly due to lack of keetorange CCBS. I'm thinking of swapping out the keetorange anyway, but that won't happen until August when the "eyebrows" will then come in black/gunmetal. Also depends if I can obtain 4 more flat silver 8M shells, because they are extraordinarily expensive in any quantity nowadays, and I'm not prepared to spray paint my keetorange ones silver either Too right, it's never been about realistic proportions in Bionicle. Remember the Inika? (though arguing what are realistic proportions on a mythical creature like the dragon was odd to me anyway, because that's up to interpretation and personal preference really, I've drawn plenty of dragons with tiny wings and huge heads, and plenty exist in media that have unrealistic proportions). Due to my bad habit of keeping all my decent MOC's assembled, I think this is going to be the last of my enormous titan beasts, because I've run out of money and good parts! Time to go and build a baby Okoto Dragon instead methinks
  19. Maybe I can remove the torso shells on the sides, I think that's making the head too large. Note some stuff attached to the back of the head should actually be neck armour, but it's only attached to the head since it had way more connection points. As for the profile pic, this page should give you what you are looking for
  20. Currently listening to Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Chasing Yesterday (full standard album). Also looking forward to the release of Muse's new album, entitled Drones. Easily my most anticipated album this year. I suspect I'll be listening out for new material from it
  21. Can I admit that I am personally more pleased with how the Protector came out than how the dragon came out, even though it took me 10 minutes to build one and 2 days to build the other (despite the fact it's just a heavy mod of a previous model)? The head is big because it's supposed to be a more bull-like dragon (for some reason Spyro (from the late Nineties platformers which I love, not Skylanders) immediately comes to mind with his abnormally large head), plus as I said, the head is basically lifted from another model as I couldn't build anything smaller that I was satisfied with. I also tried giving it a serpentine neck, but that really did not work at all, both structurally and aesthetically. Glad to know the keetorange doesn't bother you - I thought it'd bother a lot of people because it looks, well, tacked on and a bit random really. Especially when I also use red for the claws I suspect this is one I'm going to be constantly fiddling with
  22. Nice mods and MOC's as always Rayskull! I decided to make a Protector "leader" using your original torso build, and it turned out really well so I thought I'd share it and add it to this topic. The build actully works really well for mounting Furno XL's cape onto them I found The Stone Protector Leader by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr
  23. The Stone Protector Leader and the Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Hello all! May I share with you my latest Bionicle based MOC. I have wanted to build a huge CCBS dragon for a long while, but never really got around to it until recently, when I looked at my large pile of unused craft faux leather and thinking that they'd make good dragon wings on a LEGO model. So this is what resulted! You might notice that I did take Bullion, the steed from my BFTGM entry, and used him as a base for what I am calling "The Okoto Dragon" (yes, very unoriginal name I know!) The Stone Protector Leader by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr First of all, a look at the Stone Protector Leader, which I built while building the dragon, and acts as a steed to the giant Rahi. Credit to Rayskull for the alternate build used in this little guy's construction. And now for the Okoto Dragon itself: The Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Front view: The Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Side view: The Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Rear view: The Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Top view, showing the wings fully extended: The Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The Okoto dragon can rear up on it's hind legs, though it is extremely difficult since it is extremely heavy. The Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The Stone Protector Leader (and other Protectors of course) can be mounted cofortably on the Okoto Dragon, as shown here: The Stone Protector Leader and the Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr And a bonus "face-off" shot between Protector and Rahi... The Stone Protector Leader and the Okoto Dragon by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr That's it for now. Positive and constructive comments appreciated, as long as you don't mention the keetorange (I didn't have much choice there, I wanted to use the flame pieces above the eyes, and kind of had to include more elements of the colour in the build, since until Skull Grinder comes along, they only come in keetorange). Also, please ignore the pole reverser handles on the wings, I forgot to replace them with bushings until halfway through the photoshoot. Any other odd colours present is likely because I run out of the colour I wanted to use
  24. Yeah, I think I said the exact same thing a while ago, I would have preferred to have seen Onua's silver body armour (not weapons though, they're fine as they are) be coloured gold. I can see why they chose not to include 2 colours of the same newly released part (the digging claws) though, but really there was little excuse for the HF shoulder pad on Onua's abdomen, given silver was a new colour for that part anyway.
  25. I didn't know you could use one of the most famous metal bands in the world in constraction building Now I realise what I was doing wrong with my Linkin Park inspired figures, I should have actually used Linkin Park themselves instead. Okay I'll stop with the bad music/constraction related jokes Jokes aside, I completely agree with you on everything. Silver hands and feet really get on my nerves.
