  1. I've got a question since I want to update my Ninjago villains minifig display to accommodate the new ghost minifigs: how many different ghost minifigs (excluding the Skreemers) are there throughout all the sets we know so far (excluding variants of the same character, so ignoring the same character where one variant has legs and the other has the new ghostly bottom piece)? And how many printed variants of the Skreemers are there? (I'm sure it's two but maybe I'm missing some).
  2. Does anybody have any idea whether Crominus in 70227 King Crominus' Rescue has crocodile kneepad print (like Cragger) or whether he has the generic Fire Chi legs? I can't tell from any pictures I've seen. I've been thinking about BL'ing some parts to Crominus, Laval and Rogon (and also BL'ing Saraw) so I can (eventually) get their Fire Chi/Harness variants cheaply to complete my Chima minifig collection (because, as much as I'd like to, I can't afford the two bigger sets that are coming, what with Ninjago and Jurassic World grabbing my attention this summer ).
  3. And some thoughts about Scorpio now: I think he's probably slightly weaker than LOSS in terms of articulation in the legs (the pincers are fine in that regard). I'll probably end up removing the current legs entirely and replacing with either normal bones or "bone" bone pieces (whichever looks better). The function is the best thing about it, but I don't know - it still leaves me wanting more. Though it has inspired me to create a CCBS scorpion with both a lashing tail function and a grabbing/striking out claws function (separate from each other). Though I don't really have a lot of knowledge about Technic, I don't even have a semi-plentiful stock of Technic in my MOC'ing trays, so I wouldn't know where to start with incorporating both those functions into such a model.
  4. A lot of hate has suddenly risen up about LOSS again, so I better add what I think. Sure, LOSS isn't the best model in the world, but in my opinion it hass got one of the most entertaining builds of the Winter sets (bbut that's just me, I enjoy Technic-oriented models). And yes, the model does lack the poseability factor I really love, but it's really easy to fix with just 24 more (common) parts whilst keeping it's sole function in tact. And yes, it only has one function, but it's a well built function in my opinion. I do have some thoughts on Scorpio also, but I'm a little rushed for time right now... All I'm saying is that if you don't like it, modify it (or just leave it on the shelf I guess). After all, that's what LEGO is surely all about at the end of the day?
  5. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I love this part also, it's a shame it's a relatively rare piece and not as cheap (on BL) as it's 5M counterpart. Oh, and like the friction extender, it irritates me that it doesn't come in black, since the backbone structures of my builds (where they are used) are always black.
  6. I would tend to agree with LewiMOC on this one, but let me add a few more of my favourites: The 3M bone - Don't know why but I am always finding myself running out of these. Small but actually very useful. Rounded shoulder armour - I just love the look of this part. Especially useful in black, and can work as armour just about anywhere on a CCBS model. Plus I'm also always running out of these. The top half of a Zamor Sphere launcher - though many might see it as one use, as a launcher, I always use these to armour up chunky legs as part of my favourite limb building technique, and they are the perfect shape for that. Now I just wish for them to come in black Just my 2 pence
  7. Picked up the Elves Treetop Hideaway, Hulkbuster Smash and McLaren P1 sets, along with a small PaB tub of trans-red jewels today. I would have picked up much more of the Speed Champions range, but I'm waiting for double VIP points to roll around first, which I think is 2 weeks away.
  8. I had that surprise a couple of years back with PaB - I had wondered where all the CCBS had got to (I think DraikNova has got it right, it was that people didn't understand it or some nonsense like that) - but if the service is available in your country and you're not considering buying in vast bulk, you could always check out the Bricks and Pieces section of LEGO's Customer Service for your fill of CCBS. It can be slightly more pricey, but many of the CCBS elements are available there for purchase (make sure you follow through this way: enter your country > I want to buy a piece > Bricks and Pieces selection. Then enter a set number to browse parts or, if you know it, the Element or Design ID of the piece you want to buy. Simple). I always use this when it comes to ordering CCBS when Bricklink just won't cut it for quantity or range Plus, it now goes through the S@H checkout, so it's much the same process as placing a PaB order - and I believe the postage is cheaper also (at least in the UK). I hope that is helpful to you!
  9. This is likely correct as it matches up with the release dates that my friend who attended the LEGO booth at London Toy Fair told me (well, he believes June or July for UK/Europe, but either way, they're definitely coming out earlier in Europe than in America, NYTF confirmed the release dates for America as August). Also, this appears to be the new norm for release patterns for action themes, so it's not unbelievable. To avoid me having to repeat myself 3 times, he also said the same/similar release pattern applies to Chima and Ninjago.
  10. I see that quite a few people have similar wishes to mine, but really the only reason I hope for the trans-clear Hau is because I can't get an NYCC one (simply because I live in the wrong country! I can't swallow the absurd import charges my country applies to even $30 ones, and I can't seem to hook up a trade either). Otherwise, seems that a blended Gali mask isn't that unreasonable thanks to TheDesuComplex's interesting observations about injection points. The only qualm that I'd have about a new colour of Skull Spider is that I'd need 6 of them, since I have 6 of all the other colours (not the gold one though as that's not technically a Skull Spider), and since they'd be exclusive, it'd get pricey very quickly. I don't mean to be nitpicky, but it's Trans-Neon Orange on the Skull Villains, not Trans-Red
  11. Unfortunately I can't help in this regard, it uses parts from a LOT of sets spanning a wide range of Hero Factory, Chima and Bionicle sets. I might be able to make up a parts list though. I'd make this available as an LDD file, but with the amount of complex angles, it'd drive me absolutely insane attempting to do it! One thing to note is that this model is almost pure CCBS. There's only a little Technic involved, and most of it is in the legs and feet. The whole upper body is built off two torso bones connected by this piece.
  12. I'm going to go out on a limb here - what if the mask that comes with the activity book is... a translucent or blended Gali mask? You know, to fit in with the masks that come with the Skull Army sets? So then we can have at least 3 variants of each mask that way? Well, that's what I'm hoping for, but it's probably more likely to be another Hau, likely in a colour we've already seen (but I wonder what the reaction will be like if it turned out the mask in the activity book was a trans-clear Hau?). Though I also entertain the idea that it might be a Skull Spider.
  13. It's 30cm tall, including the gatling gun construct on the shoulder. It's definitely bigger than all the Invasion from Below mechs, including Evo XL Machine. And I used the Chima torso shells because, well, the shape is just right in my opinion. The others I found were just too flat for those areas. I found that the neck depession (or whatever it's called) on it was similar to the windshield bottom shape, so that's how the one on the torso got there!
  14. Unfortunately, not much could really be done about it - I would have preferred to use dark grey but the weapon barrel, the only piece I could fit there to produce the 4-barreled gun (which is actually a design I perfected a couple of years ago), only comes in 3 colours - light grey and two trans-colours, neither of which would have worked with the overall colour scheme. So light grey it was! Though, looking at the gatling gun ammo colour, I'm wondering whether trans-neon green might work there after all.
  15. Constraction-class Recon Combat Mech by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Not much to this really. I liked Hero Factory's final year where they ventured into mechs, and when I saw that the mech windscreen was to come in a new colour, Trans-Neon Orange, in the DC Super Heroes Black Manta set, I knew I had to build a CCBS mech using it. Here's my result. This is actually the first CCBS mech I have built from scratch rather than just slightly modified (even the Stringer Sonic Machine was a mod based off a polybag set), and I built it as to serve a sort of tribute to HF's final year. Positive and constructive comments are more than welcome. In case anybody asks, that's a minifigure form of my avatar in the cockpit. Oh, and I am aware of the contrasting colours in the gatling gun ammo - I forgot to change it out for trans-orange studs before taking the picture
  16. Yes, I agree with this. I'd never want the 2.0 torso shell to go, I use a ton of them. I remember thinking what a mistake it was to use Breakout torsos for Iron Man's shoulder armour (though it did give me a good supply of plain red ones, so there's that). It's actually rare I use them alone though since they have such a skinny waistline, but they do work quite well on my "signature" torso construct where there is normally 2 4M shells either side of the Breakout torso, which I think does something to flesh out the skinny waistline. I'd show a picture but I haven't got a good picture of it unfortunately.
  17. On torso shells: the Breakout torso has always been my favourite of the torsos, I was sad to see it only used in 2012. I love that it gives a sort of biomechanical abs look which is perfect especially for my original characters MOC's who are supposed to look strong and toned and biomechanical. I think they would have worked quite fine on the Toa. In fact, here's my Tahu (modified) using a Breakout torso to illustrate what it looks like (in fact, I did this as I needed a normal red torso shell for another model): 70787 Tahu mod by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I certainly agree that the normal torso shell has got boring as a torso, but I always appreciate getting it in new colours and it works very well as a larger armour cladding.
  18. Ah, well I read a Brickset review that said a name for the Sith Warrior could be Darth Marr, so that kinda stuck. But yeah, I try and name those that are assigned with generic names (also since I use images from Wookieepedia for the diisplay, it's more useful to search named characters. I think I nearly named the Ithorian Byph or something like that, in an attempt to identify it. The Ithorian's stand uses Byph's picture anyway but I do know it's not close enough to be him unfortunately). I was actually quite disappointed that Revan didn't come with a reversible face print when it came out last year (I remember having thoughtful conversatons with some friends on Brickset, who collect Star Wars more than I do, about the figure actually and they agreed). But that's another discussion entirely.
  19. Well, I suppose I should come and share my own Star Wars minifig display. The nice thing about this setup is that it's entirely modular, each minifig has it's own personalised stand that can be removed and relocated, so it's easy to add new sections. Handy for when new releases come out! Super-large version of picture here, and since I don't mind if people borrow this idea for their own personal display, LDD file EDIT: Forgot to mention, the seemingly blank bits of paper behind each minifig is actually a washed out image of the character the minifig portrays. Easy enough to make.
  20. This has been happening to me for a while now (on both Chrome and IE11) and it always drives me up the wall because I can have quite complex orders with BnP, and it happens every single time. I've also been sent back to the home page when trying to click into an order on orders received. In fact, I was on the phone to UK Customer Services yesterday about this very issue, it's definitely a known issue and they're looking into it, so I don't doubt they're trying to fix it. Bizarrely, I haven't heard it affecting the Safari browser that much (which I hardly use so I can't really testify for that browser), but using any other browser throws up the problem. For now, I suggest making a copy of your BnP order contents, then when it fails to add the first time, go back and re-place it using what you copied as reference. It almost always adds to cart second time around.
  21. Thanks, that helped very much. I did what you suggested and ended up using this light source code: And it resulted in this render: It's not perfect, but that was definitely what I was looking for, so thank you hrontos!
  22. Sorry, it's me again! I have a question about rendering with additional light sources. I'm trying to render this file with realistic spot light effects, but so far, all my efforts result in only small patches of light reflecting off objects and is hardly noticeable. Is there anything I can alter to create realistic spot light effects like what you'd normally see in a real-life equivalent of the MOC? I'd appreciate if someone could suggest some settings or is able to tweak my light source codes that will make what I'm looking for (to pretty much bathe the MOC in the 7 different light colours, emanating from the 7 "light" units). I'd rather complete the render myself otherwise. Unfortunately, because parsing the model takes 20 minutes, it's hard to do trial-and-error renderings on my new computer LDD2POV-Ray settings I'm using: Original LDD Geometry; Scene: only Base Plane is ticked; Light colour RGB 128, 128, 128; Light 1 & 2 30%, no Shadow, Light 3 45%, Shadow, Ambient Light 35%; Normal Radiosity. Additional POV-Ray instructions I'm adding to the POV file to try to create the lights. I feel that these just need to be tweaked in order to get the effect I want: I would attach the POV file, but it's too big for the uploader.
  23. I can't believe I've only just noticed this thread! Nevertheless, I should share the origin of my username as it's quite an unusual one: I have a long-running project focusing on the realm of creatures based on cars and their heads resemble the front ends of various cars. My favourite car is the Bugatti Veyron, and creatures in my project based on that particular car are known as "Veyronians" (they're to the left of linked image to illustrate). I think I'm the only person who has created "Veyronians" so to say, hence why I call myself TheOneVeyronian on many sites. It's also a name which I found that has never ever been taken as I think I am the only one crazy enough to invent something called a Veyronian My avatar normally features a Veyronian (what it is right now is a Veyronian if it were a Grumpy Sparrow by the way...).
  24. Thanks. I'll have to wait until Summer to complete the key collection then. I was kind of hoping I could get all 4 in the sets just coming out. But I know Ninjago did something similar with the dragon sword in it's first year so I guess it's not a big surprise!
  25. Despite this beng a mini-doll theme, I've resolved to purchase the treetop hideaway and creative workshop at least, though suffice to say I think I will be passing on the mini-dolls to other people as, despite the fact I'm female, I'm not a fan of them. And there's so many parts in the theme that I want to get my hands on. May I ask actually, apart from Skyra's castle which I can see has all of them, can somebody tell me if the 4 keys all appear elsewhere? I'm looking at the set pictures and I can see all of them except the Wind key, is that only in the big castle set or is it in another set also? Oh, and if anybody in the UK is looking for them, they are apparently in LEGO Stores according to my friend, and he's already got a few of them. But I think that was posted about on Brickset a while ago (originally reported by my friend also), I'm surprised nobody here mentioned it to be honest! Yup, noticed the similarity straight away
