  1. Been listening to the debut album by Royal Blood (a new British rock band) recently. Definitely lives up to all the hype they got, it's got to be one of my favourite albums released in the last 12 months
  2. Skeletor Badbone by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Not much to this really. I had a burning desire to attempt to build a fully poseable and reasonably realistic looking LEGO skeleton after seeing the summer Bionicle sets (being loosely inspired by their overall theme as well as all those "living" skeletons you might see in fantasy or horror settings). This is what resulted. Please note this build isn't intended to be 100% accurate or completely proportional to a human skeleton, it's just meant to resemble one Youre welcome to have a look at the LXF to see other angles in the build and attempt to build it yourself for personal use (though many colour substitutions will have to be made. I think a black version is feasible IRL), however it uses a 3mm rigid flex rod in it's spine to achieve the spinal arc so I'm not sure how stable the build will be. Positive and constructive comments are welcome.
  3. Okay, these have now just turned into absolute must-haves for me - and from those pictures of the Ferrari model, especially the one comparing the length of it to a City vehicle, it'll look like these will fit surprisingly well with my 7-wide car MOC's. And I may just have to pinch some of those hubcaps for my existing car models too - to find that at least some of the sets come with interchangeable sets of them is fantastic (though it'll mean I have to BL some more of the new wheels).
  4. IIRC, I don't think a CCBS set has ever had a retail exclusive. I'm guessing you meant Constraction in general though, since the last Constraction retailer exclusive was in 2010 (Bulk vs Vapour, which didn't use CCBS)? Anyway, for those wondering why no blended masks for Tahu and Gali, at this point in time any theory could be correct, but personally I'm in favour of getting some retail exclusives (I can never have enough new Bionicle sets, and, well, it's been a while). But also remember, the reduced size of the Bionicle summer wave may very well be explained by the apparent existence of Star Wars constraction sets (which I would have thought would have taken resources and time away from Bionicle). But that's just a guess of mine.
  5. The other day I decided to take the plunge and basically lose my Star Wars UCS virginity - and bought myself 75060 Slave I (I had a little spare cash so why not, and Ewok Village doesn't count as UCS for me). I still need to find the space to display such a model as well as a big enough space to construct it before I can start delving into the build. Photographs of my sigfig sitting in it's cockpit will inevitably follow after it is constructed
  6. Oops, appears I've accidentally opened a can of worms mentioning the Queen Beast as part of me giving thoughts about the potential pricing of the Star Wars constraction figures. But 54 Euros? Ouch Anyway, to bring this back on topic, I agree with many people saying that the super chest and using torso armour on the arms would be a big mistake with these sets - they're not hugely muscular superheroes but rather averagely-proportioned humans (well, Grievous isn't but you get what I'm saying ). Simply slapping on some shells onto them would be enough here, maybe the occassional shell add-on would be acceptable I think. As for moving this thread to the Star Wars forum: I can see why you would want to (since the Technic SW sets are in the Star Wars forum), but all sets involving constraction, including licensed ones, are here I believe (judging by the review index at least) so I think it also makes sense to keep it here. But I guess that's for the moderators to decide, just thought I'd add my thoughts on it
  7. Appears the account error is fixed, at least for the UK - time to go order another Onua and PoS and that hero pack so I can make some Bionicle 2015 MOC's! I can't remember the last time I placed an order under £50 on S@H - guess that shows I really want the hero pack I think that will probably do me until the summer wave hits stores now - unless another Bionicle GWP comes along unexpectedly of course
  8. I didn't even think of it that way, but when you look at it that way (with the muscle thing), it certainly does make sense. I admit I didn't notice the red on some of the chestplates . But then again, it's just personal preference
  9. Same here, I think it's actually affecting all UK accounts. And this is the second time it's happened to me in as many months, and last time by the time CS responded the error had fixed itself, so I'm hoping this time it'll be fixed by tomorrow. And it always seems to happen when I want to place an order, funnily enough.
  10. Nice model! It would slot into the Skull Gang pretty well I think. I like the aesthetic very much and I like the build, the only thing I'm not 100% certain on is the chestplate, purely because it has dark red in it's print which is a colour that isn't used anywhere else in the model. I'd almost certainly buy it if it were a real set. I was thinking about making something similar once I got my hands on a second Onua, but I guess you beat me to it! Also, seeing that model made me realise how much I miss seeing the rounded detail shell in sets (partly because I use them a lot for a favourite repto-humanoid design of mine, which uses 7 of them, and are becoming very rare). But anyway...
  11. Urgh, I knew I should have ordered from S@H yesterday, because now I have decided to buy something so I can get the Hero Pack - I can't get into my VIP account, saying I'm not logged in even though I am (and according to the LEGO ID section I'm definitely logged in)? For what it's worth, I'm also unable to access orders placed. But honestly, this isn't caused by them attempting to fix the Hero Pack issue (where you could order more than one), is it? What I find ridiculous though is that they can't even be bothered to put up a notice on their Customer Service site stating that S@H has some technical difficulties, because it's clearly affecting all accounts and not just mine and they know about it I know it's slightly off topic, but if I ordered now while I'm unable to access my VIP account, would I still get VIP points on my purchase or not? And to anybody who contacted LEGO about this issue (it's too late to contact them today myself now), did they say anything about how long it would take them to fix the apparent "error"? I want to get my order in sooner rather than later so I can secure myself a Hero Pack without having to resort to the aftermarket.
  12. Hi, I have a bit of a problem and I'm not sure how to fix it. LDD2POV-Ray use to work absolutely fine on my old Windows 7 system, but that computer broke and I had to get a new system running Windows 8.1 (whhich is more powerful than my old system, so requirements shouldn't be an issue). I installed LDD2POV-Ray (64 bit) on it successfully but now I can't use it as it says the CBFS driver isn't installed. However it doesn't give me any hints how to rectify this, so question is: how do I install the CBFS driver to get LDD2POV-Ray to run? I did initiate a restart on request and followed the installation process correctly, so it's a bit puzzling as to why my system hasn't installed the driver. However, I did install LDD2POV-Ray before installing LDD on my system, is this what is causing the problem? I hardly think that it's Windows 8 (as much as I loathe it) or my system causing the problem. I'm going to try an uninstall and reinstall of LDD2POV-Ray to see if it will install the driver, but I'm not sure what I can do next if that doesn't work. Help appreciated, thanks! EDIT: Appears performing the uninstall and reinstall did the trick, so the problem must have arisen from me installing LDD2POV-Ray before installing LDD and POV-Ray 3.7? Still doesn't explain why it originally told me installation was successful and why it didn't install the CBFS driver though, but oh well.
  13. If these SW Constraction sets have a similar build to any of the £13 Bionicle sets and they got priced at £15, honestly I'd be okay with that. If they were £18 however, I would not be impressed. I would probably be even less impressed if the rumoured $35 set translated into 35 British pounds yet it turns out as big as, say, the Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder set coming up in Bionicle. I still can't forgive LEGO for doing that with the Queen Beast set. But if CCBS Grievous (if he's the big set) turns out to be the same size as his System UCS counterpart (unlikely I know), that would be, well, better than awesome. Yet I would still probably buy them all in any case as I take pride in having every single CCBS piece in every colour that has been produced. I never know when an MOC of mine might need a certain part in a certain colour
  14. Like others, I'd probably recommend the Protector of Stone. I'm getting an extra one myself for the trans-neon green bones, the recoloured flame bolts and the dark orange shells (all those will inevitably be useful to me) as well as more silver piston add-ons (also very useful especially if you plan to swap out the gold for silver on Onua, like I have). Reminds me, now that I have a computer that works with my SD card again, I must photograph my modified Protectors and upload them at some point
  15. Bought all the Series 4 Mixels, 70749 Enter the Serpent, 70170 UltraCopter vs AntiMatter and 75060 Slave I yesterday. Currently, I have built all except the Slave I so far, purely as I have no idea where to put it when it's finished yet!
  16. Suppose it's only right for me to show my prizes which I recently received with my winning entry stood proudly in front of them. Meant to post this a while ago, but hey, better late than never! BFTGM 2nd prize! :-) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr
  17. I was looking at Slicer's chain weapon just now, and I just noticed something... I don't think that is regular Hero Factory claws on the end - it's trans-neon orange Skull Spider legs! I'm 99% sure it's them - you can see the end of Slicer's chain weapon in one of the pictures of Scorpio: http://i.imgur.com/hRXef8x.png All I know is that I am going to want a bunch of them.
  18. I think that, since the link in the OP kind of said Boba was a given, I think they might have meant Boba rather than Jango. Also... Clone Wars Obi-Wan? Oh why? That sounds like it will be an absolute atrocity. Nothing against the character or the show, but considering how the Clone Wars minifigs look, a Constraction figure will look horrible. Can't imagine the animation form translating at all well into these types of sets. I'll pass unless it offers some irresistible cape or cloth parts, or some unique recolours. I imagine I'll find Luke less appealing also, but I don't think it will look as bad as a Clone Wars Obi-Wan might. The rest sound like they could be good - especially Grievous, he'll probably translate into CCBS very well and it will be pretty much an instant buy. Wonder if he'll come with his ROTS cape? Okay, I'm probably delving into the realm of fantasy now, but if he's the big set, I would like to see it. Overall, sounds promising. This is sounding more credible now.
  19. Ops, didn't realise my comment would open a can of worms. But anyway, different things excite different people, and that's fine. I must admit I'm not particularly fond of the old Technic sets either. I'm looking at the news with 70% "these will offer brilliant new moulds as recolours for my MOC's!", 25% "now I can have Star Wars beside Bionicles, that will be cool to see" and 5% "I'm sceptical as to how they'll achieve their look without them looking too creepy, especially any humans they might do". So mostly positive from me then :-) And I don't know why, but I have a sudden craving to MOC a Droideka out of CCBS...
  20. Those pictures have just confirmed to me that those new bones just don't work as upper limbs, as far as anatomy goes really. Also not sure how much I like the Ben 10 horns used with that face on Basher, very disproportionate if you ask me, but overall I still do like him in general. Thanks for finding the pics!
  21. I would love to see a gearbox on some of them, it would be a neat excuse to include it. But on the flipside, would you really want to see unused ball joints on such figures? It would look even more out of place. Anyway, I find it interesting but perhaps not surprising that the rumour is going down well with Constraction fans but met rather more negatively in the System Star Wars fan community. Not that it matters I guess, you can't please everybody :-) At least I can assume that these will make better and more accurate action figures than the Technic ones ever did. And if this is true, I will bet that at least one droid will be done and will probably translate better into the CCBS system than humans and aliens, especially ones that normally do not wear armour.
  22. If you are referring to the build a minifigure bar in LEGO Stores, then yes that would get you the promo :-) Also thanks Mutant Orc for doing the link to the English store calendar.
  23. It's already around in English - just go to the UK version of stores.lego.com and download the February store calendar. Sorry, can't link to it as I am on my phone at the moment (the site really doesn't like mobile) but it shouldn't be too hard to find ;-) From what I recall, it said that it would be included with any purchase, while stocks last. No mention of a minimum or specific spend.
  24. Okay, thanks for the thoughts. I do know about the Bricks and Pieces service too, but sometimes availability for pieces like the Robo Shark (potentially, since I won't know until June or whenever the summer wave comes out) is a bit hit and miss, and if pieces come in a separate bag in the set, it is likely to not be sold there. I think I might wait until better pictures surface for the hideout before committing. It may be that I don't even buy either set and I get all the bits I want separately anyway.
  25. I seriously wasn't expecting this. At all. Provided they are done right and are set at a reasonable price point, I could see myself buying these. I was never really into the Super Heroes ultrabuilds though, the heads kind of creeped me out a little (still bought them all for the plethora of unique recolours they introduced). As for lightsabers, I have built CCBS figure sized ones before and can't really see anything wrong with just using some 1x1 round bricks with a white 3mm hose going through it. But an actual dedicated piece would be awesome, especially if a light was somehow integrated into it. Oh, and one can never have enough capes, might even get some in a colour other than black. But I won't get my hopes up too much until such a thing is confirmed to be true.
