  1. Do we know from the information available whether this theme is based around magic or around science? I know there was a debate earlier about that but I dont want to wade through 150+ pages to find out if it was resolved or not...
  2. LEGO seems to release so many helicopters in their sets, I wonder why? Do kids these days like helicopters?
  3. If LEGO knows for a fact that they wont approve Ideas sets in certain themes they already have licenses for (e.g. Star Wars or LOTR or Super Heroes) they should say so and not allow those licenses to appear on the site.
  4. Is that the rubber boat piece in magenta I see?
  5. I am a huge Fallout fan (played Fallout 3 and New Vegas and will be playing the new one as soon as I can afford the computer upgrade I need in order to be able to play it) and this is awesome. And yes, please do post more pictures.
  6. Doesn't Mega Bloks have the Smurfs license?
  7. Ooh nice, that looks like a new color for those wheels (so far they come in hard-to-get black and not-so-hard-to-get light bley but that looks like white to me.
  8. We may or may not get sets based on the new film but at the very least we ARE getting an awesome set of the classic firehouse (a set which has already risen to be "equal best licensed set of all time" on my personal list next to the Ecto)
  9. Nintendo would never allow their characters to appear in a video game not created by them. As for the yellow submarine, Beetles licensing can be a nightmare (although whether that would apply to the looks of the guys and the look of the submarine or just to the Beetles music I dont know). Not so sure its going to sell to the target market either.
  10. If they didn't think the F7A Hornet would sell, they would have rejected it by now. My guess is either licensing discussions going on or a need to wait and see how the game it comes (which hasn't even been released yet) from develops and whether said game is a good "brand fit" or not.
  11. My thoughts on why they didn't make it: Science Adventures, my guess is that because its the same person as the Research Institute AND a somewhat similar set, they probably didn't want something so similar so soon. Discworld is too big and not popular enough. (and I heard getting licensing for it can be a pain) Medieval Market is too big Frozen castle would have been too big even if they weren't already doing Frozen sets DC-3 I suspect is too niche a product (how many kids today even know what a DC3 is?) and a little on the big side again T-Rex is too big plus they already have a T-Rex in the Jurassic World sets ISS would have been too big and/or too difficult to pull off (a large chunk of the set would have needed to be support structure to hold the thing up) Golden Girls isn't popular enough (the only thing I ever liked about the Golden Girls is the catchy theme song) Zelda has the same issues as every other Zelda project. Titanic was too big (even the smaller one) and a model of a ship that sank on its maiden voyage may not be the best brand fit for LEGO Daft Punk was too small Frozen Castle they already made into a set. As for the Corvette, they already have one (albeit a modern one) comming out in Speed Champions next year (which they wouldn't want to compete with) and they already have a line of larger scale cars. Also, just how much recognition do those older Corvettes have in places like Europe? Small Yellow has the issues with the original artist but also the issue of just how popular it would be as a set. Daft Punk wasn't really a set, just some minifigs and accessories. Also you have to remember that they have a very limited production capacity for product (and especially so for Ideas sets) and currently have Big Bang Theory, Dr Who and Wall-E in production with the Ecto-1 almost certainly staying in production because of the firehouse. Oh and the yet-to-be-revealed marble maze. As for the F7A Hornet that has been kept in review for the second time, I suspect they have decided that it would work as a set but they are waiting to see what happens with the game (which is still in beta last I checked) to make sure its a good brand fit and doesn't end up being a "mature" game once all the content is developed. Looking at the projects currently in review: Indominus Rex has all the problems of the T-Rex plus its even bigger and harder to pull off Adventure Time, I dont know if Warner would accept brick built figures for an Adventure Time set. Plus the show just isn't popular enough (Scooby Doo is a lot more popular and they got to tap into the nostalgia factor for those who remember the old Scooby Doo shows). And for all we know, there may be licensing issues surrounding this. I think we can say that neither of the LOTR projects are going to make it (Orthanc seemed to be a flop as far as d2c sets go and the last waves of LOTR/Hobbit didn't exactly fly off the shelves) I dont think the Physics set has a broad enough appeal to sell well Caterham Super 7, it has even less recognition than the Corvette did (especially among kids). Heck I am a car guy and watch a lot of car shows/read a lot of car websites and even I dont really know all that much about the Caterham (or would buy one). I think the modular library is too big to work as an Ideas set (yes LEGO knows how well modulars sell but this would have a fair price premium due to all the detailing/interior and the fact that its an Ideas set). I just dont think LEGO is going to do an Ideas set that would have a US RRP north of $100 Mr Stay Puft is NICE (and I for one would definatly buy one) but I think its a little too big plus it would conflict with whatever they are doing otherwise for Ghostbusters (like the firehouse). They may even be doing a Mr Stay Puft set of their own like with the firehouse. For the Little Prince, there may be licensing issues plus there is the "is it popular enough with the target audience" question. The LandCruiser is even bigger than the Vette and Caterham. And its even less popular than either of those would have been (yes it has recognition but its not the sort of thing people are going to buy as a set). And again it may conflict with their plans for more large-scale cars and more Speed Champions projects. The Jurassic Park car is nice but it looks nothing like anything in the new film and I just dont see it selling (plus again there may be limits on what the license LEGO has allows them to do) The submarine is nice (and I do like the sort of "steampunk" vibe its giving off) but it doesn't have the appeal to the target audience. Oh and again its probably too big.
  12. I recon Walter would have been a better choice than the Zombie Taxi Driver (who was only ever a small part in the film)
  13. http://shop.lego.com/en-AU/Firehouse-Headquarters-75827?_requestid=2765127 has the proper (non translated) English description.
  14. Oh and if anyone wants to know the price in their country, click on the link above (which will take you to the french shop) and pick your country from the dropdown. Australian price seems to be $499 just like the Helicarrier...
  15. For those complaining about the price, its the same price as the Shield Helicarrier and it has 1600 or so more pieces.
  16. In regards to transparent colors, there are 3 parts I suspect LEGO will never do in a transparent color. The hips, the hands and the torso. As for the set, WOW, just WOW. Now all I need is the Aussie retail price so I can set a savings goal and save up to buy one...
  17. I see no reason why a game (and base) bought elsewhere in Europe (UK or whatever) wouldn't work just fine on an Italian console. As far as I know all the console manufacturers only have one region that covers all of Europe.
  18. I could see the ghost legs piece from NinjaGo and S14 CMFs being used for the Library Ghost.
  19. I think the City line in general could do with more new minifig accessories instead of the same ones we have been getting forever. Not 100% sure but I think the last new accessory created for the City line was probably the police handcuffs. Can anyone think of any new minifig accessories that have been introduced in City sets since then?
  20. I think the hazmat suit part in the right color (say, metallic silver) could also work for the hood part of one of those reflective flame suits. And the white one (even with the printing) would look great as the headgear for a clean-room suit in a lab somewhere. (If LEGO are still selling it, maybe I will pick up some more from Bricks & Pieces next time I place an order on Shop @ Home)
  21. I would definitely buy a hazmat truck and I concur about the use of the hazmat suit piece, it would be perfect.
  22. Human bad guys like they did in the old days of Blacktron and Space Police.
  23. Pirates used to be an evergreen theme but it disappeared, NinjaGo could do the same at any time if it stops being popular.
  24. I dont get why people are perfectly fine with companies profiting off products that blatantly violate the copyright of companies like LEGO, Disney, Warner Bros, Universal, DC Comics, Marvel, Lucas, Nickelodeon and others... It doesn't matter if its not something LEGO themselves have produced, its still a violation of copyrights and IP belonging to the owners of whatever character these bootleggers have ripped off. Buying bootleg LEGO is no different to buying a fake Rolex watch or a fake Gucci bag or fake Callaway golf clubs.
  25. I want the next space theme to include precisely ZERO aliens. Bring back the human bad guys they had in themes like Blacktron.
