  1. Yeah, trans-yellow would have worked great for it, too bad the part doesn't exist in that color.
  2. Finished assembling it, its VERY cool. Am I the only one that thinks the bad guy ship would have been even cooler if the windscreen had been in, say, trans-smoke (a color which does exist for that part)
  3. Just about finished assembling my Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP!. IMO its the best space set LEGO have released in 2 decades. (sorry Exo-Suit fans although the Exo-Suit is definatly close the SSS! is better)
  4. Got my Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP! Went to Brisbane City MYER, they had no stock on the shelf. Their system said they should have stock, staff member said its probably still being processed. Plenty of other new stock though (Arctic, Trains, Star Wars, Ninja Turtles) Checked Target Brisbane City, basically nothing new. Mr Toys Brisbane City couldn't tell me anything other than "our stock arrives the middle of the month" Big W Brisbane City had some of the new product but no Movie stuff. Called up MYER Chermside (since that was a reasonable idea as a place to go next) and they said "We don t have the Spaceship in stock but our computer says Brookside, Carindale and Pacific Fair do". Called Brookside and they looked and came back and said "yes we have it, I found one in the back". Big W Brookside has a few new sets, no Movie stuff though. MYER Brookside has none of the new sets on display but I suspect they do have all the new stuff (including more Spaceships) in the back. The trick for finding the new stuff (at MYER anyway) if its not on the shelf yet is to see if you can find an employee willing to look in the back for it :)
  5. I think using totally new torsos for all 3 figs would have been stupid, it would have defeated the purpose of showing that scientists dont generally wear special gear (chemists being an exception since they need the lab coat for obvious reasons) I do wish they had used torsos that are less common (but then again which female torsos does TLG have that are both less common than those 2 AND suitable for the set?)
  6. If a country town like Noosa has the new stuff, finding it here in the big city should be easy :)
  7. Which Big W did you see the Spaceship in? (which state?)
  8. The plan at this point is to hit Brisbane CBD followed possibly by somewhere else up that way on Saturday then on Tuesday I have to go to Southport for a meeting so I will hit Australia Fair and possibly Robina or other GC locations as well if I still need my Space fix. I also need to consider if I want that giant walking construction machine or the flying police thing (both sets do come with extra codes for The LEGO Movie: The Video Game but I am sure if I cared enough about that, I could find reviews of both sets that reveal the codes)
  9. Another thing I would like to see is a urban commuter EMU type train with the flat/nearly flat front in the style of e.g. the London Underground or the NYC Subway (rather than the streamlined high-speed style seen in e.g. the 2014 passenger train or other recent passenger trains). Doesn't have to be licensed from a real train, just has to have the general "look" of such trains.
  10. Spotted a bunch of new/exclusive/notable product at Toys R Us Garden City Westfield earlier today: TMNT Shredder Lair Escape Star Wars MTT LOTR Elf Council LOTR Black Gate Sopwith Camel LEGO Movie Rescue Reinforcements LEGO City Bandit Hideout (the TRU exclusive one with the dark blue helicopter and orange pickup truck) LEGO City Arctic Cargo Airplane All of those except the Sopwith and LOTR are TRU exclusive and I believe the Arctic Airplane, Shredder Lair and MTT are new for the second half of 2014. No sign of any new product at any of the other stores at Garden City (Big W or David Jones) or at Loganholme (Big W, K-Mart, MYER or Mr Toys) or Beenleigh (Mr Toys or Big W). Well unless you count GOTG as new that is :) Anyone want to use their knowledge of the QLD lego market to try to predict which shopping center or retailer is the most likely to get the LEGO Movie Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP! out first or where I should try and hit this weekend/next week if I want to maximize my chances of finding one?
  11. the x-men set is also available on other US sites (e.g. walmart) so its not a TRU USA exclusive which tells us nothing about who (if anyone) will get it locally. As for the Parisian, its a MYER exclusive and it seems to have sold out everywhere.
  12. I would love to see an American style 4-4-0 or 4-6-0 (the style seen in all the cowboy movies) but with the level of detail of the Emerald Night.
  13. Its showing up for sale on the Toys R Us USA website so it might be a TRU exclusive.
  14. Given that the X-Men set isn't in the catalog, I suspect its probably a retailer exclusive.
  15. Just scored a 10669 TMNT Juniors set for 1/2 price ($15 down from $30) because of missing pieces. And no I am not going to ask LEGO to send me the parts, I would feel guilty doing that when I got such a good price. B\oh figs are there and complete. Missing pieces are: 3 x black 1 x 2 tile with handle 2 x black 1 x 2 to 1 x 4 bracket. 1 x black tyre 1 x black fan propellor 1 x green 1 x 4 brick 1 x lime green wheel 1 x lime green 1 x 2 cheese grille slope 2 x lt bley 1 x 2 brick 2 x lt bley 1 x 1 cone 1 x lt bley 1 x 3 curved slope 2 x lt bley 2 x 2 plate 1 x lt bley 1 x 4 plate 1 x silver katana 1 x dk bley tile 2 x 2 with pin With the excepton of the wheel and maybe the propellor fan none of those parts are parts I care about and I dont think any except the wheel are rare.
  16. No new sets at either Helensvale or Australia Fair.
  17. Very nice MOC. Cant put my finger on why but it reminds me a lot of the British "Holiday Camp" as seen in the movie Tommy.
  18. I just wish they had limited it to one per customer on the online shop, wouldn't have sold so fast and would have given more people a chance to get one.
  19. The Ice Breaker is a Big W exclusive and was released for their mid-year toy sale. The other Arctic sets have not been released at all yet.
  20. Toyworld at Beenleigh has the following in stock as of today: BTTF Delorian Spongebob Glove World (and possibly other Spongebob sets) Minecraft sets Creator Family House Chima, Meteor Storm, Hobbit and LOTR board games. Winter Village Market Opera House Sea Cow They confirmed they are getting new product this month (including the Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP!) but they weren't able to tell me when it would arrive. Nothing at all of note at Big W Beenleigh unless you happen to want that Arctic set with the big orange boat.
  21. So annoyed that the Exo-Suit went straight from "not available yet" (when I left earlier to go see Guardians of the Galaxy at a preview screening) to "out of stock" (when I got home and checked) :( Was really looking forward to buying one too. Hopefully the SSS! (the other item I really want) shows up in Australia soon so I can buy one (was going to order it along with the Exo to hit the free shipping but that ain't happening now)
  22. Its now showing up as "unavailable" for Australia (and all of the countries served from Europe in fact) Does that mean its sold out and wont be available for ages or just that its somehow glitching and is actually available? And if it HAS sold out already so soon after launch (only a few hours since it went live) then that should show LEGO that they need to order another production run as soon as they possibly can. This may well qualify as one of the fastest selling LEGO sets of all time...
  23. Its most likely an August release like it is here in Australia.
  24. Regarding LOTR and battle-packs, I suspect the rules there have to do with the way the license for the LOTR tabletop war game works, i.e. sets need to contain a higher ratio of build to figs to prevent competition with the war game stuff In terms of printing, it seems like new prints are ok in any ideas set, look at the research lab set with the printed star chart piece. So new prints and new colors are ok keeping in mind the very limited number of "changes" a given ideas set is likely to get.
  25. Nice service station, reminds me a lot of the local Caltex Woolies around here (the kind that doesn't have a full shop, just a small area to pay etc)
