  1. Huh. Wonder what the going rate on a slightly used 4A is...
  2. Am I missing something, or does the MCRA form not include the option of setting the Isla del Romantica zone for the bounty run?
  3. Only in highlighting some issues in the ship rules. This ship has less firepower in a given salvo than my last 2WR, the Bloody White Crow, to which no one raised any issues with the armament.
  4. No kidding, a saw a pirates in dinosaurs comic last week. Hoping (very slim hope) to have my MCRA result build done today.
  5. Toymaster in Whitby have them on sale.
  6. Thank you. The "legs" were a cool detail on the original design. I added another pair on a whim, and then realised I had a spider theme to work with. I may be overcompensating for the loss of the Crow. Thank you. The sails on my recent ships seem to be a big hit.
  7. I've been determined to add crew to the ship MOCs I've been working on. It's actually been one of the most difficult parts because I find the LDD interface to be not helpful for selecting torso prints. And then there's the issue of matching them to colours those designs came in. I also wanted it to look like everyone was doing something, though not sure that entirely worked. Thanks.
  8. Thanks. I'll be honest, it started off as "Can I turn the Raid Zeppelin into a boat?" and, like most of my recent builts, got a bit away from me, Thank you. Regarding the rigging, I've yet to figure out how to do other set-ups using the technic panels, and didn't want to mess around too much trying out other methods, so I settled for this.
  9. Thank you, though I am curious why you plan to list it as a larger class: aside from the scenic base this ship is of comporable size, and with smaller guns, than many ships currently listed as Class 2. Thanks, I'm a fan of this style sails, they're a bit less hassle than fully brick-built sails and (to me) look better than empty masts.
  10. So I don't know what buttons I pressed but I can't get a good set of pictures of this using BlueRender, so he's the one good render. and some screenshots from the LDD that for some reason have no background. That was a surprise when I went to resize the image. The Night's Gold's sinister colours are a frequent site around Bastion and Haven. No one is quite sure how her Captain, Montgomery DuLac, manages to earn enough money to keep her afloat. It may relate to his good humour, easy going nature, ability to work with anyone and willingness to take any paying job. He even, occasionally, resorts to piracy - though he tends away from violence towards the prey's crew. After all, no point in needlessly raising a bounty on his head. Captain DuLac himself, making sure his ship is in good shape. He is not above hiring a few "less civilised sorts" as marines. Though some of them do not do much the rest of the time. I'm using my free license for the Night's Gold, classing her as a Class 2 Well Rounded.
  11. Grayther Drave pays many people to bring him exotic goods for his emporium in Bastion, but the Spiders may be his favourites. A team of expert treasure hunters, the Spiders take their name from the unusual little boat the sail around in; the Wight Spider. Some people claim the boat is not white enough for it's name. Drave tells them they misunderstand it. The Spiders - Talia, Gascoigne and Klaus - treat their vessel better than they treat anyone else, except, perhaps, Grayther Drave. The Wight Spider is a Class 1 Well Rounded vessel.
  12. That would be the plan, yes. Use the ship as my free license, using the Class 2WR stats, until such a time as I have enough DB to pay for a Class 3 license, and then pay the full cost of that license (the ship in question is my recently posted Mirthless Jest). I don't currently know how many DB I have, since the Scorecard hasn't been posted yet, which is why I'm asking about using the free license (my last free license ship sank during the last MCRA).
  13. Possibly the cleverest use of minidoll parts I've seen so far. And I do like that fountain.
  14. A question regarding the under-licensing of ships (with a view to later upgrading the license): Can you use your free license to under-license a ship with, paying the full amount of the higher license once sufficient DBs are available?
  15. When I posted the Bloody White Crow Captain Dee mentioned modding the design to make it into a carrack. I looked them up and thought "that's doable". The earlier style of ship also makes sense for something possibly dredged up from the depths (but more on that another time). The sails are Technic panels in various combinations of 3x5, 3x7, 3x11, 5x7 and 5x11. As I mentioned above, the idea came from the Metalbeard's Sea Cow set, so they work in actual bricks but may require some extra pins to hold them together a bit better. I think the biggest problem you may have is trying to find the parts in the wanted colours.
  16. Thanks. Funnily enough, it wasn't originally supposed to be so intimidating, I only added the teeth to imitate certain elements on other ships and things kinda escalated from there. I might look into the under-licensing option. And I hope this one lasts longer than the last one. Yeah, these white/accent two-colour ships are ending up a bit of my thing it seems. The two-tone contrast really does end up quite striking. I was impressed with the sails when I saw Metalbeard's Sea Cow, and they're easier than trying to build sails out of regular panels. I'm still not entirely sure about the rear sail, but not figured out how to improve it yet.
  17. Finally finished this thing: The Mirthless Jest. Currently unlicensed.
  18. The last anyone else had heard of Jack Yharnam, her ship had got lost in the hurricane. Debris was found washed up on a nearby spit of land - quite by chance, actually, the crew were hunting for meat - but no trace of the captain herself. Everyone thought she had gone down with the ship... ...until she sailed into port one day in that monstrosity, the Mirthless Jest. Bigger than the Crow, more guns too. Gods only know where she found another crew for the thing. But there it was, bold as brass. I might just sneak in an MCRA results MOC before the end of the month but just in case I don't I figured I would post this up. I'll have to wait to license this, I don't have the DB for any kind of Class 3 ship and since this is bigger than the Crow I don't think I'll get away with calling this a Class 2. I'm still learning with BlueRender so I may add some shots of the details using the LDD's photo mode, but that will have to happen later.
  19. Is there an updated Freebuild License form that includes the religious and cultural options?
  20. Thank you everyone for the positive comments. After giving up on trying to alter the settings to get close-ups of the main shrine I decided to cut & paste it into a separate .lxf and get images of it that way.
  21. That makes sense. Or possibly a closer, rounded off base. Working on it, but BlueRender isn't cooperating as much as I'd like (I can get it zoomed in, but haven't yet got it properly refocused on the shrine without also distorting the image). Thank you.
