  1. Well, there goes my chance of winning... Seriously, great work.
  2. Y'know, I tried the curved(ish) deck but wasn't happy with the results so ended up scrapping it. It's certainly a thing I'll be looking at improving on in the future.
  3. Welcome aboard, new Sea Rats.
  4. Thanks. You're right about the spanker sail; I couldn't work out how to make it with the technic panels so the plate version was an uneasy substitute. As for the bowsprit, I'm not sure if the answer is to make it thicker or extend the length of it. Some of the pictures on google have fairly long looking bowsprits. Maybe both. In any case, both are quite valid observations.
  5. Last we heard the raiding portion was done and they were still determining the trade results.
  6. Thanks. I was worried about the sails; trying a different layout left a few gaps. Thank you.
  7. Thanks (I missed that ships were manual entry).
  8. Am I supposed to be charged for the license on a captured ship?
  9. That's a third of your birds? Wow. And that aviary looks quite creatively put together. Good work.
  10. The capture of the Bonnie Lass by Montgomery DuLac's Night's Gold was a surprise to many, especially DuLac himself, who had no particular interest in owning the warship, nor the crew for a ship twice the size of his own. A few days in port, and with repairs to both ships underway, DuLac encountered an old frenemy: Elspeth Harrow. Miss Harrow was in the market for a ship, and so ownership quickly changed hands again. Now-Captain Harrow immediately set about gathering a crew of her own. She found time to get the ship blessed by a priest of the Lord of Deep Waters, and rechristened the ship Maiden of the Deep. At dusk the next day Harrow set sail with a ship full of battle-ready sailors and marines. As for DuLac and his crew, well, that many doubloons bought many a drink before they too set sail. I tried a few new things on this. The hull design was inspired by Hass Kabal's Jackdaw project over in Pirate MOCs. Not entirely convinced by the sails, but I wanted to get this posted up. I may post the alternate, sail-less version later, possibly with some crew (and a hatch to the lower decks added - the things you only realise you missed after uploading the pics). The cabin sides are hinged to open outwards, though I've yet to fully furnish the interiors. Not sure how viable this would be as an actual build; the interior is quite hollow and lacking in structural supports because I was lazy and more concerned with the outward appearance. And I just realised I forgot the rudder... more pics later, it looks.
  11. Do you need to fill out a license form for a captured NPC ship you wish to use? When working out the extra cost of licensing a fourth (or more) ship, so Sea Rats pay 50% of the base price or 50% of the discounted price?
  12. Just looked over my numbers for April and found I've been charged 150DB for ship licenses. This is the right amount for the 2 ships I licensed (a 1WR and 2WR) but the larger of the two was my replacement Free License.
  13. The 2 stud version is probably also better ndfor minifigs that come with vehicle builds; the extra studs extend down further making it harder to use in a seated position.
  14. The Ultimate armour piece has 4 studs to allow for stronger connections between bricks given the size and comparative weight of certain weapons/powers. I wouldn't like to try attaching Macy's gun to the 2 stud version.
  15. Is the thread title about the ship or you, KB? More seriously, that is a great looking ship.
  16. Thank you. I guess all those years of watching action movies helped with something. Thanks. The statue is inspired by the Crystal Palace dinosaur statues by way of the Dimensions Terror Dog. Regarding the colours, I've been finding BlueRender's default settings can be a bit weird sometimes; I'm just not comfortable enough with tinkering with those settings to correct them.
  17. The crew of the Wight Spider sensed a tremendous opportunity on Ilse de Romantica. After all, Grayther Drave would pay a handsome fee for native treasures - and no doubt sell them on to buyers on the mainland for a small fortune. That part mattered little to Gascoigne, leader of the small mercenary band known as the Spiders. All they had to do was liberate those treasures from their current owners. Sometimes Gascoigne wondered if he and his crew enjoyed violence too much. A bottle of rum in their newly rewarded home soon put those thoughts to sleep.
  18. I'm in. Do we post deployments here, and when do we pick deployments?
  19. I sent the wrong ship on that bounty run... ok, that's a lie. I just don't have any ships spare to call in for reinforcements.
  20. Sea Rat Islands Isla del Diablo (Island #11, Claimed in Challenge 1) Infero Pordejon (Island #7, Claimed in Challenge 2)
  21. Just noticed a small error: The captain of the Wight Spider is Gascoigne, not Grayther Drave.
