  1. Yay Octan. Thank you judges. Congrats to Aliencat on the only 10
  2. Does it really matter? Octan sweeped it regardless.
  3. hilarious dialogue as usual. I do think Pombe would have skipped the bunks and just forced everybody to sleep on an extra large rotating bed (for convenience). the red windshield really makes that cockpit look cool. "old hag stinkfart penis?" edit: the second one is even worse
  4. Great first shot, the lighting makes it look like it's actually in space. the colors turned out fantastic, especially the yellow greebling (it's great to see that done well with different colors). it's cool that you got so much of an interior, too, and it looks like you planned it well to get shots right in the middle of it. I really like the pilot controls and screens in the front. Great shaping on the windshield, especially the curved slopes on the side.
  5. great shape, color scheme, and practical design. What I really like is how this looks like it belongs side-by-side with mccoyed's Starjacker. I don't fully understand what the middle section does and the engines could be a bit sexier, but this is such a cool looking ship.
  6. Thanks everybody In case you didn't see my answer on Flickr, it's because hair in space is just rude, it sheds, gets everywhere. Although not mandatory, Hannibal's crews get a regular wax to keep the equipment clean, except for Gary... I can't say that I see it but I'll believe it, most of my builds are inspired in one way or another by Star Wars and Heinlein Thanks, but not true, especially now.
  7. excellent shape, color scheme, and extra play features
  8. This is an awesome SHIP. I really like the overall shape and greebling you used throughout. The pattern of greebles you used along the top are fantastic and I like the catapult/slingshot you have for the small fighter ship. I think the interior is a little too blocky but the other details more than make up for it.
  9. Challenge 2 Category B Octan Entry Pilot, and occasional First Executive/Acting-CEO, John Hannibal commissioned the O.T.C. "Mercy Brandy" to further his goal of colonizing Octan territory with entrepreneurial, hard-working colonists brave enough to leave the familiar atmosphere of Earth and embark on a journey of momentous potential. The "Mercy Brandy" is a unique ship. Formally a long-range bomber on Earth, her hull was sealed and engines modified for space travel. Now, instead of wasteful bombs, the ship carries colonization pods, customized and delivered to colonists throughout the galaxy to sustain their expeditions and provide them with the tools to survive new worlds. There are many aspects of the ship that mimic it's belligerent origin. Hannibal was adamant that this ship be capable of reinforcing any colony at a moments notice, regardless of enemy blockades, unfriendly climates, or incredible distances. Thus, evasion and defensive counter-measures were enhanced and a specialized crewman would have the role of monitoring all surrounding "air"space and neutralizing any incoming projectiles. The engines were also upgraded with heat and atmospheric disruption dampeners to hide any signature of the ships course. Hatches on the tail of the ship allowed ship-to-ship docking and towing of smaller starfighers or exploration craft. Hannibal's job as a pilot with Octan leads to a large variety of smaller ships docked to the Mercy Brandy. Currently, the OS-461 and a small speeder bike are available for aiding the colonists. Inside, Hannibal and his crew oversee the ship. The spacious cockpit/command-bridge is quickly filled with colonists when the mission calls for it, but the current arrangement allows for Hannibal to analyze a variety of HUD's throughout the mission. When deploying pods, Hannibal vigorously scans readouts of the surrounding landscape and identifies threats and resources previously unknown to his people on the ground. His assistant crunches the numbers on their investment and constantly pushes the crew to move on to subsequent deliveries. On either side of the bridge, crewmen can find their sleeping quarters when not on duty. Seating can be attached to the floor in most locations except on the path to and the hatch below the evasion specialist in the rear. He is the only crewman required to have a personal oxygen supply and a decompression suit at all times. From his position the specialist can override the pilot's controls (although effective flying really requires both a pilot at the main controls and a co-pilot at his side). The hatch below him leads to the cramped cargo area in the tail of the ship, which exits out to a main ramp and two more hatches for ship-to-ship connections. Engines and counter-measures array. Rear landing pad/ship-to-ship link-up Thanks for looking. C&C always appreciated. I plan to keep this together for BrickUniverse Dallas in November, so come see it if you're in the area.
  10. Awesome editing on those corner graphics!
  11. 63 to Bob, and please buy me that book everybody's been talking about, thanks
  12. amazing work on the base and vehicle. the only thing i would add to the beach is some dark tan around the water to look like wet sand, but the textures you used are awesome.
  13. really cool trees and excellent dirt work behind the ship, you really set the standard for how both should be done
  14. Location: E02 - Jurin II Tags: Spaceship, Land Vehicle, Civil After crash landing on Jurin II, Pilot John Hannibal left his medic/mechanic/explorer droid Dora to scout the area while he was away. As she gives him a tour of all of her favorite discoveries, John and Dora come across two new colonists, the Jins, retrieving their freshly delivered frontier pod. Ma' Jin very happy to see John, who has been the majority investor in their colonization bid with Octan, and John is excited to get such a good look at his eager, and not-so-shy colonist. [O - E02] Pod Drop 2 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr Ma' - "John! So lovely to see you, and you too Miss Dora. How sweet of you to come check up on us. George! John's here! Climb your butt back up here and say hi!" Dora - "HI MA'!" Hannibal - "No need for that Mrs. Jin, I can see that he's busy..." George - "John!? I'll be right up." Hannibal - "Stay put for a minute George, I've got to come down there anyway, my droid is tracking something she saw a couple of weeks ago, it must be down a little lower." Ma' - "Oh, that's very likely John. These trees grow so fast whatever you're looking for is likely to have been consumed by now. And call me Ma' you turkey, you're every bit of our family, like it or not" Hannibal - "Yes Ma'. Very possible, about the growth that is..." Ma' - "What was it you were looking for?" Hannibal - "More M.A.N.T.I.S. personnel I'm afraid. Been finding remnants of their patrols all over the lower levels. Dora says this one is particularly interesting." Ma' - "Oh, yes... our little scarecrow. He was like that when we scouted this place out last week. The locals said they were having some fun..." Hannibal - "Locals?" Ma' - "Oh, yes, our little octopus friends... George was able to figure out how to communicate with them through colors! He can really only understand their general emotions about a subject, but they were quite tickled by their little stunt with the fella down below." Hannibal - "Hm, well if it's all the same to y'all, I'd like to move y'all's pod a bit further away to be safe; wouldn't want any kiddos catching something from that corpse. Also, don't report in about your new friends just yet. The company's latest "retrievals" of xenological specimens have not been very peaceful... "O.T.C, "Mercy Brandy" where's our closest pick-up" Mercy Brandy - "OS-461, picking up his droid, about an hour from your location... need pick-up expedited?" [O - E02] OS-461 - 2 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr Hannibal - "Negative. Send Cantillon along, but an hour will be fine. We're going to move Colonists 81815 and 81915 and their pod to sector RTMP-136 when they get here." Mercy Brandy - "Confirmed, something wrong with our drop." Hannibal - "Negative. Y'all nailed your spot, just have some new factors to account for." Mercy Brandy - "Roger that, we'll adjust our orbit to give you more time on the ground." Dora - "OOOO, wait-wait-wait, does Captain Cantillon have Mabel with him! I can't wait to share!" Mercy Brandy - "He does, Dora, and she's anxious to share with you too. Mercy Brandy out." Ma' - "But John, we've been scouting this sector for weeks. It's just lovely." Hannibal - "Don't worry Ma', it's still yours. RTMP-136 is... was one of my sectors... it borders this one and now both belongs to you and George." Ma' - "Oh, John we just couldn't!" Hannibal - "Stop it. Now lets help George get that pod secured..." C&C welcome and appreciated
  15. great build and great scale, it actually looks like a number of minifigs can comfortably move around in here. the windows and furniture are especially cool
  16. hilarious, cool floor, nice to see all your interior builds and what a great way to tie them all together, there's also some pretty sweet dance moves going on in there
  17. cool floor, the story sure took a strange turn at the end
  18. i'd love to see how you got that doorway so smooth, it looks amazing
  19. great walls and the extra dark red half cylinders you used on the back side is a nice touch
  20. When was that lounge put in? Hannibal was always stuck bunked up with the other pilots.
