  1. Hilarious! No, really, it's a great job, great details, it would be a great creation to build and to play with. Good job!
  2. Good job, I really like the modern style. Is the blue on the furniture the same as the blue used for the flooring and inner walls on the second floor? Perhaps a different color or color tone would be better to make details stand out.
  3. Very cool, I really like the modern look, and yes, it will stand nice next to the new sets -- in fact, you should start a CUSOO project for your building :)
  4. Lego only produced one type of train door, the 1x4x5, I am quite sure.
  5. Thanks all for the info, it's a very informative thread!
  6. They're selling HE for $92. Cargo train for $136. Pet Shop creator set for $115. Free shipping. I am willing to suspend judgment and I hope that the O/P gets his package and everything is fine, but I'm highly suspicious. Well.. http://www.bizrate.com/ratings_guide/cust_reviews__mid--288066.html "shop.vitanes.com is a fraudulent enterprise that drop ships merchandise from amazon.com at prices much higher than they are charging on their orders, suggesting that they are laundering money out of stolen credit cards." One anonymous comment / review should be taken with a grain of salt, but it's not looking good. There is not a single positive comment from anybody who actually received merchandise from them.
  7. Fantastic job, I thought it was good before, but now it is even better. Having all those details and 'secrets' incorporated in the design make it truly special. Btw, thanks for including underpasses : I've done the same for my much smaller station, and I like them so much better than overpass bridges.
  8. I feel I learned a lot just by looking at the pictures. The details are lovely, it's the essence of good design: in a relatively small space, you got all the essential pieces of the apartment and of the florists, and it all looks good and well matched, yet it's still whimsical and personal, not just barely functional or barebones. Congratulations and thanks for the inspiration!
  9. Fantastic, you've done a fantastic job! I've seen the real one many times when I lived in Italy. Very accurate recreation. I'd like to see more pictures and maybe a video of it in action on a track -- do you have replicas of passenger cars as well?
  10. Superkool! Where is this at? I guess in person it is even 'awesomer' than in pictures. I really like the color contrast between the red lava and the blue space pieces.
  11. very cool, I like the old 80's feel as well -- and the newer pieces here and there that complete the picture. Good job!
  12. I'm still new to my reborn passion for Lego, but I've learned a lot just from this thread. Thanks to all of you for the good work, and congratulations to Sin for a job well done!
  13. I am amazed by the river and the garden details. Are you going to exhibit at any public show?
  14. Murder you say? Excellent.. (rubbing hands like Montgomery Burns -- sadly missing from the Simpsons House set..)
  15. Fantastic! One naïve question: how do these models behave on turns? Do you use curves with different radius, or do they do okay?
  16. you cannot, you need a second layer, i.e. either a second row of bricks, or the clips+pole like in the 10233. I mean, it is possible, but one side of the slopes would not be attached to anything, so it would not hold up, any movement would make the slopes fall apart. Some people use that technique for buildings, e.g. to emulate stained glass or other colorful mosaic-like designs, but on a train it will not hold. Of course I could be wrong, and I'd be delighted to find a creative and possible solution.
  17. BTW, the instruction manual also details how to add PF to the locomotive. If you have motor and PF parts ready when you build the train, follow directly those instructions, don't build the full thing and then add battery box and IR - it will save you some time and also give you a small bag of additional parts for another project :)
  18. Very cool, good job! Are the pieces in their original color? Amazing.
  19. I will be quite curious to see what you end up implementing and learn from your findings. Smaller spaces pose extra challenges but they can foster creative solutions that nobody thought of before. Best of luck!
  20. Looking forward to seeing the layout in actual bricks, and with all sections together. Looks awesome!
  21. If you traveled on an orange TGV in the late 80s, you'd find the Horizon Express very sleek indeed ;) And yes, adding PF to it is quite easy. The portion of roof you have to lift to turn the battery box on and off is designed specifically to be easily taken on and off. Just make sure your switches are well laid out and possibly that your curves are banked -- that thing is heavy :)
  22. A nice terminal switching yard on one of the sides would provide a nice way to display plenty of trains and take as much space as you want to use. If you haven't already, download BlueBrick and design the layout there, and try out a few ideas before you lay down the actual tracks,
  23. yes, i'm using power functions motors and controls, not 9v. The Horizon indeed needs space around the curves, so i'll pay extra attention when laying down tracks and do several test runs. First video : http://sdrv.ms/Lr8XPX I'm waiting for more tracks to arrive, and then i'll have to decide which buildings and scenery i want, it's going to be a long project.
  24. I really like the station, now that we can actually see it. I like it on its own but also because it can be a good starting point for a larger mod -- i.e. I mostly see the new pieces / combinations and the basic 'functions', then one can design any modern building around it and give it a personal feel, with lots of different possibilities. Looking forward to buying it...
  25. Thanks for the suggestions. cimddwc, your changes are exactly what I was looking for and could not see by myself. Great. Once I have something more finished than raw plywood and half track parts, I will send pictures :)
