  1. LEGO probably just uses different printing companies, they always try to minimize costs on such a things. Same with stickers, quality really depends.
  2. Well that is a very unrealistic view. Have you ever been in the LEGO factories? It is really a large operation. Apart from that LEGO is made for kids, whether we like it or not that is the fact and kids want to be able to have paper instructions, even a lot of AFOL's like paper instructions, I'm more into parts and would buy a set for it's parts more then for the set itself but nevertheless we aren't the norm for LEGO.
  3. 14 digital pins does not mean 14 usable pins for Servo's. Servo's use PWM (pulse width modulation). Only the ~ marked pins on the UNO provide hardware PWM. You could use software PWM but that has it's own disadvantages. I use a dedicated PWM print with extra cap's to provide enough momentary power when a peak current is drawn from a servo. Often you see that board like the UNO will reset themselves when some servo's might operate at almost the same time. A board like the Teensy 3.2 that uses an ARM Cortex M0 µC but still can be programmed using the (easy) Arduino IDE is often a better idea than a big and very limited UNO.
  4. Nice job. That truck is a lot like the one from the 10184 50 year aniversary set indeed but nevertheless very nice job.
  5. A very good idea Phoxtane, it works very well, I use this same principle and have used if for about 5 years now and it really does the job :) I would recommend XBee (Series 1) wireless controllers with Teensy 3.2 boards to make sure you don't have too many wires.
  6. Probably just a new interaction, happens to more PF items.
  7. Very nice brickbuilder! Both the trains and the scenery are very neat, some improvements on the stickers still possible, but after all a great job!
  8. Very nice :) Now you only need Poirot or some other famous detective to solve inevitable upcoming murders ;)
  9. "If this is a manufacturing defect, do you think Lego would replace it?" I would say so. A pump is not supposed to leak of course and especially not at the bottom.
  10. Have a nice stay Lego Bob, but remember that EB is not a bulletin board for e.g. youtube channels.
  11. Seems to be a pointless topic. I think "creepervscreeper" is registered for spamming purposes or am I too much focussed on spam?
  12. Nice locomotive koalayummies! I especially like the fans on the sides.
  13. Nice job! Very recognizable!
  14. Better not use the glass ones! There are also plastic varieties. They are much more expensive but really great: http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/240/Littelfuse_Reed_Switches_59170_Datasheet.pdf-938258.pdf both the leaded and 'gull wing' variety are usable: if you have ok soldering skills, adding a wire to them is not that difficult. The ones I have just fit between studs. Very easy to connect to Arduino: GND --- REED SENSOR ---- [ lead to digital input ] --- 10k resistor --- 5V (or 3.3V) About Hall effect sensors: I do use them for non-LEGO projects that I (professionally) work on. They are way too complicated for simple operation in the LEGO realm in my opinion (especially for trains). Binary detection is good enough. What I prefer b.t.w. is putting them behind a latch chip, in case your Arduino was just busy sending Serial output you have a chance to miss e.g. a fast moving train, the latch will 'remember' that the sensor was high for a moment until you ask your Arduino to reset the latch.
  15. Reedsensors would often do the job I guess! That is how I most of the time detect trains etc.
  16. Capacitive? Why would one want that? I don't think that will help detecting other bricks, only e.g. human touches.
  17. The "Mondriaan PF version" of the 7760 ;)
  18. That is already possible isn't it? Both use Bluetooth. I don't expect any new Mindstorms items: they typically have a 10 year cycle.
  19. Most servo's have a limit like that. There are hardly any 360 and/or continuous servo's compared to the cheap analog and limited ones (I know, LEGO NXT / EV3 had them and they are of course available). The reason is that they often use a potentiometer and a typical potentiometer has a limit like that. So it is possible but the servo would be larger and typically much more expensive.
  20. We love gingerbread here at Eurobricks!!! So don't mock our gingerbread mascotte ;) Apart from that: I can see why you are disappointed... Only one gingerbread figure and a cardbox 'house' around it. That is quite the opposite. You get double VIP points though!
  21. If the train is too light this happens... The PF motors are very night... That is why 12V trains had weight blocks. Traction is always an issue!
  22. Simple, elegant, adequate ;)
  23. Very nice Dario, welcome at Eurobricks and the Train Forum. I like the set. The small wheels probably will cost a fortune as separate parts (or will be impossible to get).
  24. Very nice job Herwin, welcome to Eurobrick and the Train Forum!
