  1. It is more that most people that bump just say: "Nice work" or ask for instructions, if you e.g. have an update on your build from some time ago I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
  2. But it is interesting that while LEGO designates sets for certain age categories they don't really seem to differentiate between parts and age levels apart from Duplo < 5 yo and maybe tech > 9 yo.
  3. Yup. For kids it was a great series. I bought all the sets for my modular desert. It was actually designed by former students of our product design academy (at the university I work at). (My bad b.t.w., I also like the 60307 truck and don't really fancy 60302 truck, I confused them as I have both sets and built them at the same time).
  4. It does not have any animal parts in it: I used all animals and the bag is still intact. Not sure about the truck as I liked it enough to build it.
  5. I have lived in the US for half a year (internship). I was amazed by all the strange regulations there. On the microwave there is a sign that you should not use it for pets, on the bleach there is a list for which purposes you can use it and "All other use prohibited". In Germany or Holland if you would microwave your cat and send a claim to Siemens / Bosch / Philips they would probably report you for animal cruelty instead of you getting a chance to win any court case with the millions of bucks that come with it. The best chance for 'winning the lottery' in the US seems to find a loophole of some random product, misuse it and get rich.
  6. It is because of international safety regulations and/or regulations in certain important areas. There was a time when toy trains were powered from the mains without any transformers...
  7. Welcome at Eurobricks @vaxx. Hope you enjoy your stay, but some suggestions: - The topics you posted in are at least two years old and the only thing you post is basically "I have a 3d printer". - While I think a 3D printer is a great addition to a LEGO hobby, this forum is all about LEGO so that is our focus. - Share what you are doing to get feedback on it, then you can fully enjoy the LEGO hobby.
  8. Well (I teach Embedded Systems), there are many possibilities, e.g. ZigBee, LoRa, Bluetooth Low Energy (it promises meshed networks). WiFi would be possible indeed, but would arguably not be the best choice. You could power a switch using a coin cell, if it only actuates now and then you will have decent battery life. Some time ago I made a signal, back in the day they made signals in such a way that when the polarity is reversed the other LED will light (a LED is a diode which is basically an electrical version of a one way 'street'), but if you want e.g. more realistic behavior like flashing green and/or add orange (you need that for e.g. Dutch signals but in other countries like Germany it is even much more complicated). Even to make the lamp configuration of the Swiss Crocodile train more realistic it would be easiest to have a microcontroller, they are so cheap and small that analog electronics almost always has more con's than pro's (apart from the chip problem)).
  9. It depends on how you want to use them. The 12V remotes did not need any IC's of course, the system worked quite well, but if you want to remotely control it wirelessly or via DCC...
  10. Ah that is what you meant. I hate the most that in the 12V gray era we had remote controlled turnouts and that we did not have any after that anymore. Guess they also won't come for a while as there are no chips available to make any :s
  11. But yet we still need to support all those trains: LEGO will definitely also keep an eye on popular themes even those that don't get approved. There are more genres that don't seem to have any chance to get approved (e.g. modulars).
  12. You forget inflation. 150 € today is something different than 20 years ago.
  13. Very nice. I have at least one yellow bike (came across it just today), but like having more :) Also the squirrels are very nice. Great little set, not too expensive.
  14. Welcome @Kwear, enjoy your pizza, uh, I mean your stay!
  15. Better bring @LEGO Historian in :) Don't think the camouflage plate is LEGO, but rest is.
  16. It is of course present in my bookshelf.
  17. I guess from the video USD indeed.
  18. Very expensive trains: - 179,99 $ for passengers - 189,99 $ for freight Hope they must be good. Of course it is overpriced, LEGO always has been overpriced, even their coffee is ;)
  19. We used to have sliding doors for freight trains, so they could use the same principle.
  20. All non-LEGO topics should be in community but is some kind of dilemma which is somewhat impossible to solve.
  21. Please don't bump @Thedarkmaster2. Thank you.
  22. At least the helicopter is in a separate bag. I didn't build that one and the bag is still in tact in my case (while I did use the animals). Not sure about the truck, I liked it enough to build it.
  23. Really nice! I supported it even though we know it is difficult to see it become a real set after 10k, the more great trains reach 10k the stronger the signal to LEGO that trains are a cash cow.
  24. That might be the case of course, but at least there was another topic that got unpinned recently. Might also have been human error.
