  1. MILS power lines, that is a new one ;) Very nice, I am also starting to convert everything to MILS.
  2. It might not be funny to you, I also find certain jokes funnier than others, but different people have different taste. How do you know that it is a joke: the creator mentions at the end of April 1, "hey this was a joke, so if you fell for it, sorry to disappoint you and I still hope you see the funny side in it".
  3. Yes it is fake news and for one day a year that is a tradition in a lot of countries. Two other April fools day stories about LEGO: https://www.1000steine.de/de/gemeinschaft/forum/?entry=1&id=463117&lastid=1#lastid Fusion between LEGO and playmobil. https://www.brickfinder.net/2022/04/01/kjled-shuts-lego-ambassadors-network-veered-far-away-core-values/ And the end of the LEGO Ambassadors network by means of no other than KKK himself. https://www.brickfinder.net/2022/04/01/lego-colours-of-the-world-40615-minifigure-parts-pack-first-look/ And we get a new kind of skin tones set to promote minifig diversity:
  4. I would just make a video and put it on YouTube, you can then link / embed it into EB.
  5. Great news! I see a splendid opportunity to cross-breed Trains and Pirates:
  6. Yes would be very nice!
  7. Ah I didn't count them, good point! See: https://bouwsteentjes.info/lego-classic-11021-90-years-of-play-onthuld/
  8. I think you have a wise supervisor. Even at graduate (uh, and even doctorate) level one is very limited in adding too many variables, so I really understand that.
  9. We only had the small train wheels in red in this very exclusive set: 2016 Employee Exclusive: 50 Years On Track 11021 will have those wheels in red also! They show an example of the infamous LEGO duck with it on the box!
  10. I think you should have also added some dimension about occupation. Apart from that, good luck on your research. I imagine you will need to adhere to the FAIR data goals? Will you share the outcomes with us (not only the paper but also the data e.g. via Kaggle)?
  11. Looks really nice @Murdoch17, nice details etc too!
  12. @BillytheKid, great to hear that it works for you. But maybe you should not revive a 2020 topic for only mentioning that.
  13. Üfchen apparently has a competitor @Diamabolo! Very nice job.
  14. Great to hear! B.t.w. MicroPython runs on the robot, not on your computer. Connecting to the robot is indeed a potential bottleneck. My experience is that in general older systems work better than newer systems.
  15. @legominiguy welcome to Eurobricks. Enjoy your stay!
  16. I did some googling and someone explained that WD-40 could potentially be dangerous for ABS: There are two main types of plastics according to that person: - Crystalline: Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Polyester (all types), Nylon - Amorphous: Polycarbonate, Styrenics (including ABS), PVC "The main ingredient in WD-40 is a light kerosene-like mineral oil, which is hydrocarbon based. Amorphous plastics and hydrocarbons don’t play well together: hydrocarbons will attack the chemical structure of amorphous plastics, breaking them down - essentially trying to “melt” them. In particular, Polycarbonate (PC) and Polystrene (PS). they are two named plastics on the WD-40 “do not use on these” list. Crystalline materials are unaffected by the hydrocarbons in WD-40, you can spray them as much as you wish." Source: https://www.quora.com/What-effect-does-WD-40-have-on-plastic-materials So maybe silicone spray or something would be less risky for our precious ABS.
  17. Hi @jaesroe: this old topic might help: Indeed be careful with your ABS and lubricants. WD40 should work and be safe but first test it on a normal brick that is not as valuable I would say.
  18. Very nicely built indeed @Exe Sandbox, like @noahtheb said, just the right level of detail for a modular.
  19. Haha, well, sort of. Nice video :) Let me better explain what I meant: I don't think a lot people know FPGA's in the first place, even fewer people know how to use FPGA's, even fewer people understand FPGA's and... fotoopa who is obviously some kind of embedded engineer (I can already tell that from his [for me] insightful diagram, a lot of undergraduate students struggle with making such a clear diagram, by the time of graduation not all reach this level, we might have a vacancy for you at our Applied University @fotoopa, don't worry about Python apart from VHDL we mostly teach C/C++), forgot to even mention DE10 being an FPGA. Thanks to initiatives like Arduino, Microbit and Raspberry Pi microcontrollers become at least popular in schools, but FPGA's are a whole other deal. They are really cool, but also very intimidating for laypersons. We use VHDL with Quartus for letting our students program DE10 boards. Quartus is not a very easy tool either. There are alternative hardware description languages including Verilog, but still it is a challenge as you really need to know what you are doing. They are really versatile, but you need to really understand basic computer logic very well and on top of that different flip-flops and other digital logic components and also at a conceptual level (parallel vs. serial logic). But seems a really cool project even though not all might understand how complicated it is.
  20. Great idea, but I don't think it will be suitable for virtually anyone here including myself even though I have taught VHDL with a DE0 in the past :) Also maybe you should explain it 'a little' more in laymen's terms.
  21. You can use programs like Adobe Acrobat for that or even free tools.
  22. Or in English: "That one is however expired."...
  23. Great idea and nice how you put in all those ideas details. It reminds me of https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2020/jun/15/we-rule-ok-englands-independent-island-kingdoms
