  1. Hi Svad, very nice job your rendering of this train / metro. Will you build for real as well?!
  2. A very easy solution is an Arduino with IR led. You can find an example sketch at my leguano website :)
  3. 7 wide is indeed a good compromise. Original LEGO Trains often also are wider than six of course when one includes railings etc.
  4. I would use teflon spray :) should be ABS safe as well!
  5. I actually already build the train, only some finishing parts missing, but hope to receive those soon as well! At this point my largest concern is the motor coming loose, I will try to improve that part a bit as well! Hope to post updates asap
  6. Yes it is normal that the prism leaks light :) indeed tinfoil is a very good solution! Greets Johan
  7. In that case if I have a very good vector, I can print it for you of course indeed, but as 3DKiwi said, it costs a couple of hours to make a vector out of it using inkscape / illustrator.
  8. Well even a reproduction would not be too cheap, it costs a lot of time to reproduce it well (and money since often the first batches fail). I'm working on some technic sets, but they are difficult.
  9. of course it will be all open source, the first tutorial will be in the next railbricks issue b.t.w. but the larger project is too big for an article so I put that online somewhere else, but it takes a lot of time (and I'm very busy at the moment, conference coming up, need to fix part of the speakers for that and still two master subjects to pass) so I hope to finish it in a month before LEGOWorld Utrecht.
  10. of course ;) I'm also working on automating it, but that is quite some work (hard coding isn't that difficult but a flexible system)... a good learning project though.
  11. I use Comic Life 2 for Mac for it... that is not for ubuntu of course, maybe scribus will work there?
  12. just ask lego for a replacement I think...
  13. yups like the original one, but in my test I already used a battery box with AAA alkalines so it should be quite heavy.
  14. Inspired by Selander and reinstein I decided to build my own 7760 PF edition. Although I think that Selander did a great job, I liked the version by reinstein even better. He does not provide us with a full building description, that it why I started out with LEGO Digital Designer and came up with this: Other side: The engineer is able to sit in his chair. I used a dummy li-ion pack in the building process. I might also put some more electronics in to make the lights work etc, but will see about that. First I created the chassis: The second video shows that the traction is not optimal yet (it is the engine car though, with a PF motor, Li-Ion, receiver, etc)... but I might increase traction by adding rubber rings to the Medium BBB wheels that I used. I used 2x 2 normally flanged Medium BBB train wheels and 1x 2 Medium wheels without a flange since otherwise it won't be able to take the curves. A link to the solution for getting more traction Will be continued...
  15. looks very nice!!! now the real thing, some parts will be hard to get in the colors you used though ;)
  16. @emm, very nice looking, but expensive solution. I use a very cheap servo 2.50€ with a Arduino of about 20 bucks.
  17. very nice!!!
  18. I gave you a PM with the email address :)
  19. and you will show it in Utrecht on LEGOWorld I suppose?! Greets Johan
  20. nice station indeed, what station did you use as 'real' example?!
  21. very nice work! you did a great job Murdoch17!
  22. Hi Andy, first of all, welcome to Eurobricks! We would appreciate it if you can also introduce yourself a bit further of course... (There is a special sub forum for that). Would it be an option to use non-LEGO tracks for it? It will be cheaper I guess and easier to replace! B.t.w. a good source for LEGO Garden trains are the youtube video's about it: youtube
  23. you could easily fixate the LED's with hot glue. In my experience it won't destroy the LEGO, it is reversible and does the job very well
  24. It is in Utrecht indeed, former Utrecht Maliebaan Station, it is not that bad indeed (I like the Bochum Dahlhausen museum better though). The museum buurtspoor museum in Haaksbergen hosts a LEGO / AFOL event every year b.t.w. There are also a lot of other smaller train musea in NL like the one near Groningen from STAR, Beekbergen (VSM), the famous 'miljoenenlijn' in the Valkenburg area, I think there is a museum emplacement in Rotterdam, and the Hoorn-Medenblik steam tram and finally the Goes depot of the Goes - Borselle line. (Maybe I even forgot one or two... a small country, lot's of old trains ;))
  25. nice jobs, both the buffer and and the houses!
