  1. so it might be this ship: (People at 1000steine were talking about it and referencing this topic).
  2. Are you a member of a LUG? Yups, apart from EB I am member of de Bouwsteen, 1000steine and BeLUG. I am also a sleeping Lugnet member (who isn't of course ;)) Are you actively participating in your LUG? De Bouwsteen: Active, more times a year I go to exhibitions with my creations, today we are just back from a meeting in Hardenberg, NL 1000steine: occasionally I visit maybe once every other year, I participate at the forum weekly, BeLUG: we go to at least one meeting a year and now and then to other meetings as well depending on our job / study workload Would you consider supporting more actively the online AFOL community (e.g. Eurobricks) as moderator, regulator (indexing, ...), making set reviews, etc.? I just joined the regulator force, I have been a review academy member for a while but my masters next to my job took up too much time, I often visit the train forum and enjoy participating in it and help making it even better.
  3. @LEGO Historian: my wife just bought one (41999) for herself :)
  4. @Chorduroy: that sounds very familiar, why am I posting this and not busy programming my trains for tomorrow?! :)
  5. If you are at Hardenberg tomorrow I can show you my solution for the points (since we haven't yet been able to drink coffee together ;)) I'm thinking about creating an automated transfer table like this (for LEGOWorld Utrecht 2013):
  6. That is in fact more typical indeed (without the middle stairs). Real stations also only have a platform at either the right (x)or the left side of a train. But of course in a LEGO World everything is possible ;)
  7. That is what always happens, that is why I always order extra parts from the shops I need to get certain parts from. A good advice is: buy special parts or bulk (maybe) from brick link but first make sure you have a reasonable amount of bricks to start with (by buying ebay bulk lots e.g.). Bulk lots on ebay go for about 15$ per kilo (at least in Germany) so that gives a reasonable price. A typical small Peugeot (20x) can handle about 100 kg of LEGO including the driver and co-pilot is my experience ;)
  8. Very nice indeed, is it also motorized?! I suppose not, but maybe you did a very neat trick.
  9. I can't PM you, but VectorTrains, can you have a look at your first post here, the pictures are missing (I removed the links because there was a silly flickr warning placeholder). Looks nice your update and thanks for sharing your LXF of course!
  10. Today I was at quite a large toy store nearby, I noticed they did not have trains (and Lone Ranger) at all... They used to have even Mindstorms there. But now in Holland LEGO needs to share with MegaBlocks, that was not the case until two years or so ago. They have all LEGO together b.t.w. and the problem might even be that there are just too many different sets at the moment!
  11. very, very nice! I like that version both versions!!!
  12. Very nice Lasse! Also nice to have some church life around it, youth activities included ;)
  13. awesome! It almost looks like a model train, especially the tender!
  14. that means we will get 2 brick high minifig heads?! ;)
  15. That is actually even better than those hinge windows I think!! Your car is becoming better and better! This could really pass on for a real set I think.
  16. I totally agree (I have too much spare time since I've reproduced them all already ;))
  17. We use both CMF and other figures in our layouts, next week again in Hardenberg ;)
  18. @jrathfon: welcom to EB, and the Train Forum in particular of course. One of the major problems with trains is of course that they should represent existing things without being unrecognizable for most people. For example the Santa Fe series, they are not very recognizable for the Europeans apart from some train fans. Same with the metroliner. The horizon express might be not very recognizable for Americans / Asians, but trains like that can be seen in Europe (not the TGV anymore, but the French successor Thalys (that also travels through Belgium and Holland), the German ICE, the French / Brittish Eurostar, the recently crashed Spanish Renfe, etc. The same for track accessories: the Dutch signal system differs quite a bit from that in Germany, Belgium, etc. (we have a very simple system compared to most European countries, but in the US I think the system is even more simple). A boat is a boat so to say (there are of course a vast amount of different ships, but the one's seen in Rotterdam can be also seen in Shanghai or New York). The look of a typical truck might differ a bit on each continent but not to the extent of trains. That might be why LEGO choose to bring out that many steam trains in the eighties: although they can differ quite a bit if one has a careful look, almost all steam engines have the same silhouette from a distance.
  19. LEGO should be enticed to create a panel version of the 45411 part. The new hinges are more sturdier, but also less elegant for train designs! I like the design, I could go for an official set!
  20. @caperberry, It is a trash newspaper like the sun or so, so you must take it lightly what is written there ;) I thought it was a curious article, that's why I shared it ;)
  21. That is of course why I'm also a Maker enthusiast, what the large companies don't provide, we can just do ourselves.
  22. @Carrera124: stop behaving like a child and keep the discussion positive! @Hey Joe: thanks for your very positive approach ;)!!! That is what we like :) Indeed it is indeed strange that the accessories are far behind the very nice sets that LEGO regularly brings out! We should just do something about that ourselves then I guess!!! I'm at the moment (between typing here ;)) programming a point motor system that can: a. move points b. control semaphores / arm signals c. control decouplers
  23. Very nice job... as always!
  24. It is a nice one indeed, only looks a bit too bulky, but that is very fine for a prototype. Interesting that there aren't that many supporters... I supported it more than a year ago.
  25. I just read this remarkable Dutch news article: "Groningen. A drug dealer has discovered a very unusual method of payment. If his junkies have no money for drugs, he also accepts Lego." http://www.telegraaf...met_Lego__.html Translated: Drugs paid with Lego AMSTERDAM - Groningen A drug dealer has discovered a very unusual method of payment. If his junkies have no money for drugs, he also accepts Lego. Last Thursday, during a hearing at the court in Groningen a 34-year-old addict and repeated drug offender admitted that he stole expensive Lego sets from toy stores to trade for drugs with his drug dealer. The boxes range up to 200 euros. According to the lawyer of the Lego thief, the idea behind the trade is not so strange: "Lego is very popular and one can easily sell a stolen set. If children have had the first brick, the parents 'hang' because the children are totally hooked. The Public Prosecutor demands a prison sentence of 265 days of which 180 days conditionally against the toy thief. JK: Not sure why I also see a BanBao set in the picture, those aren't that expensive and popular in Holland I think ;)
