  1. How do you know that? I don't see any reason for sets to not include the "dumb" battery box (which will come out in the future) and a motor to power a multiplexing mechanism as has been done with the PF (and 9V) generation.
  2. Most likely because the 2-port "train hub" is optimised for studded building instead of studless, and AAA batteries last less than AA. Plus, 42109 = parts pack!
  3. That's the visual version of V8 Engine Noises.
  4. On the contrary, a motor with position encoding and absolute positioning, as is the case with both current Control+ motors, is ideal for that. The app knows what position the selector motor is in, and can change the UI accordingly. The only caveat is that for some reason these motors don't have any external marking denoting their zero position (unlike the PF servo and the SPIKE motors), so the app should need a calibration at startup ("Which functions are selected now? What about now?").
  5. The "dumb" Control+ battery box has the same shape as the "smart" hub in the 42099, 42100 and 42109.
  6. That sounds more like a Classic Space colour scheme. Not that there's anything wrong with that, on the contrary!
  7. If the new set is as closely connected to Fast and Furious as the 42109 is connected to Top Gear, it's going to be another "meh" from me.
  8. Imagine two of these joined back-to-back. Most likely the new pontoon works like that, with the hole also sealed.
  9. I was just about to post that. Case in point: http://technicopedia.com/8460.html#Features
  10. Since they can be programmed (plus the EV3 runs full Linux), wouldn't it be more practical to have them connected directly to the gamepad instead of having to rely on a "middle man" phone?
  11. Same about too many panels and too few panels.
  12. Exactly what I thought as soon as I first saw it. Not that there's anything wrong with that, though, especially since it was re-released twice...
  13. I don't doubt that we'll see the tyres (and wheels) again: moulds are expensive and TLG loves to reuse them.
  14. The main new technologies are the longer LAs for the boom and the banana gears for the turntable. Pneumatics aren't the best choice for the boom, as they need very careful control or else the boom comes crashing down when lowering, like what happens with the 8421.
  15. I've just noticed, on the inside of my C+ hub, what appears to be a rubber button. Could this be used to detect a rechargeable battery, just like on the EV3?
  16. Why the shock? Only now LEGO motors started having absolute positioning, ever since the days of the NXT we've had to deal with relative positioning, and that's not to mention the RCX, with no positioning at all...
  17. There are two kinds of PUp M-motors: the "dumb" motor that comes with WeDo 2.0 and the Batmobile, which doesn't have position encoding, and the "smart" motor that comes with Boost, which does have position encoding.
  18. Nothing is keeping the Batmobile and Boost motors from being used in Technic...
  19. It also tells me I have no compatible devices to install in, and I have a few ranging from Android 4.4.2 to 9.0. I wish Play Store would say exactly why a given device is deemed incompatible with a given app.
  20. Yeah, tuning PID parameters is more of an art than a science. Ideally the output should follow the input as closely and quickly as possible, but in the physical world that's very hard.
  21. That's great info! He just forgot to add that, with BC2, you can plug whatever motors and lights to whatever ports, and use the C+ hubs in your MOCs.
  22. @imurvai I bet you're cursing Powered Up and the servo capability it brought, due to the whole can of worms (and headaches for you) it opened...
  23. You shouldn't need to previously pair the SBricks. However, at least for the initial search in BC2 I need to turn location on (it's a thing with Android, go figure). In other news, the newest Android version has been approved at the Play Store!
  24. I would like that to happen, but I'm not keeping my hopes up: I'm still burned with the 42039, the 42069 and the 8527.
