  1. I joined after spending some time in the historic forum, and then finding GoH. I was pretty inspired by all the builds I was seeing (it was in the middle of the Nocturnus civil war I think), and how much fun y'all were having over here, so I signed up for Avalonia. I too was having trouble deciding between Avalonia and Kaliphlin, but in the end Avalonia won out because that's more my niche of building.
  2. Very cool mccoyed! Great minifig posting, and nice stands for the observers. Oh, and I spotted I spotted the sig figs of Yooha, Kabel, MKJoshA, Ecclesiastes, and Cara.
  3. I can't bring myself to use MBs even for foundations... Maybe I'm a little over the top though.
  4. I knew I made a good choice in employing the noble gnomes. Their unwavering servitude and noble determination shall be richly rewarded, the price we had previously settled upon will be doubled, if not tripled when Sir Brychan hears of the valor of the gnomes. Ok, out of character... Wow, I sure wasn't expecting the gnomes to be such a big part of the battle! I think I'm going to choose to save Torgonius, and plan some builds around him and the gnomes. Maybe I'll develop a story line with them, and expand on their friendship...
  5. Sounds like you all are pretty busy with mocs or life at the moment! Can't wait till the builds start coming in! DG, I hope you're kids get well soon! I'm now on vacation, so I'll be away from my bricks for a while. I tend to get more inspired after being away though, so hopefully I'll come back recharged and ready to build!
  6. Thank you Kai. Glad you like it! And feel free to copy my armor! Mine was actually inspired from a tutorial from Mark of Falworth, though I changed quite a few things to better fit my ideas, and the picture in my head!
  7. Narbilu, that build looks awesome, can't wait to see the final product! So what do the rest of my fellow Avalonian's have in the works at the moment? I'm working on my Mount Up entry, which is close to done, and Task 5. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to fit my Mount up entry on a 16x16 base. Let's just say there's going to be quite a bit overhang... And my Task 5 build is I think something like 56x50 studs, give or take a bit. I'm thinking I might have to expand it though, as it's getting a bit crowded. I'm also thinking I'm going to have to make a bricklink order to finish it...
  8. Very cool! I like the different take on a mount you've done here, having it be a humanoid creature rather than just a beast.
  9. Awesome looking mount! I love the humped back and stoutness you've given it, it looks quite formidable!
  10. Nice to see the beginning of your story line!
  11. Cool, I like the fountain and the scale! You've captured the bustling market feel in this build quite nicely! I can't say I'm a fan of mixing fleshes and yellows, though, but that's just me.
  12. If that happened I would start crying. Or laughing. Or swearing profusely. Or all of the above. I would probably do the same thing if there isn't an add too. Just more vehemently. We have to get a third wave! PLEASE LEGO!
  13. Beautiful gatehouse DG! Lots of great texturing and ornamentation! I really like your soldiers too!
  14. Awesome harbor scene! The cheese slope walls, the fish in the net, and all of the little details are great. Nice ship too!
  15. The battle is really turning out to be quite epic guys, great job with it! And I am glad my squad under the command of my general Torgonius is proving to be an asset to Dugal's forces.
  16. Yeah, it's hard to tell whether anything besides the hair pieces are new. I just meant that the new hairpiece/orc combination looked pretty good. All of the torsos are rehashed, which is disappointing. Looking back at the sets again, I'm really feeling pissed, and majorly discouraged. It's seriously like TLG doesn't care about the Middle Earth line hardly at all?! They didn't even have the $25 army builder like they've had before (UA, MEA), which would have been PERFECT here. It's THE BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES! Put in 1-2 armored elves and 1-2 armored dwarves, along with some armored orcs (they don't even have to have any new helmets), and it would have almost redeemed this line, and sold like hoth cakes. To think this is probably the last of Middle Earth Lego. Damn. I just don't get it.
  17. Overall they look pretty good, but I'm disappointed that there are no generic dwarf or elf soldiers. I love the look of those new orcs though! Their hairpiece looks great, and it looks like they have new facial printing! The orcs in the battle of five armies set appear to have recolored uruk-hai printing though?...
  18. Thanks man! I've decided to eliminate the galleon option now. Glad you like the cannon and the monkey! Wow, this actually really helps a lot, thanks Kurigan! My vision for this ship was that she would be a privateer vessel, probably in the employ of England in the mid 18th century, but beyond that I hadn't really thought about it much. The reason for the galleon/frigate dilemma was that I wanted it to look somewhat professional, like a British Navy ship, while having something to distinguish it, so that it looks like it was a bit "customized", hence the high stern, if that makes sense? But maybe I should just cut the high stern and go completely frigate? Some of my inspiration for this ship was the Edinbourgh trader and the HMS providence from POTC if that helps. At least, I was going for their overall shape, minus the stern. One thing I have decide I need to do is lower the sides of the ship, along with the gun ports, as they're a bit to high, making her seem too squat. And you're definitely right about the stern being to abrupt, so I'm going to take that off. Thanks Mister Phes, I'm definitely leaning toward frigate. This is actually more what I was originally going for, so that's pretty helpful!
  19. Awesome tower and wall SK! The texturing of the wall and the snow looks very nice! The "hoarding" looks great, and I really like how you made the supports!
  20. Thank you Niku! Thanks Bregir! I'm also excited to try my hand at building in the rest of the guilds! Thanks Sarah!
  21. Nice job MK, it looks really good! On the stone wall, my only suggestion would be to maybe reverse the amount of dark and light greys. I find that doing more light grey than dark grey tends to looks a bit better for some reason. But other than that, your texturing is really nice!
  22. Cool build, it has a nice simplicity to it, while still looking realistic and detailed. Great job!
  23. Very nice wall, the dark bley tiles look great using the 1x2s and 2x2s. I love the wooden flaps too!
  24. Ha, same here Simon! My family is always telling me I need to get a better drawer system, get more organized, and sort my legos, but to me they're already "organized", because I know where I've put everything... It would be nice to have all of my bins/tubs/drawer/etc. of legos all sorted out and organized by color, but there's just so much. I have started to organize by color somewhat, at least the colors I use the most, such as grays, blues, tans, blacks, whites, greens, etc... But I haven't gone all the way yet.
