Thanks for taking all that time to do an awesome review Jim. I'm convinced to get one now.

Here is where I'm up to now. Could not get the bonnet to break in the 3 spots that I wanted to so instead I added ejector seats. By lifting the horn above the seat releases a pin to eject the seat straight out the door. The gull wing doors are done complete with a movable missile launcher on the inside of the door. Grill folds down for front facing spikes. Will show its battle mode once I've finished the truck and before I start the trailer if I have time to build it.

Instead of trying to explain in photos the motor I've built it in LDD for you and attached the file to download. Thanks everyone for your comments. Supercharged V8.lxf

[MOC] Flatbed Tow Truck
jono rocky replied to KevinMoo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
One word 'awesome'. -
Small progress. Extending chassis-check. Working twin V8-check. Fold down rear guards-check. Pop off battle fuel tanks that fire 5.5 feet straight off to the side-check. Simple rear suspension and steering-check. So far things are working out. Will show it in battle mode at the end. The tanks fire independently with a half stud movement from the light grey pin you can see and to reload it as easy as pushing them back in till the pin drops down. Awesome stuff. A little more freedom with grey panels is going to go a long way. Thanks.

This is gong to be pretty cool. A tuk tuk who'd thought, love it. -
Jim. Are non 'Lego' rubber bands allowed and what about the color grey for exhausts, air cleaners and grill on a truck would that be OK or which ones not?

G'day all. I"m all for the bandits. Sometime you need to haul a lot of stolen stuff like pursuit vehicles for scrapp'n and to provide help in the heat of a chase and battle. "Its a truck" you say, "there slow" you say well 'Lights out' is a little different and this is why. Normal truck Nothing special. HOG steering. Battle mode Fold down rear guards to protect wheels and for side swiping. Extending front chassis to reveal second supercharged methanol drinking V8. You can never have to many V8's with that much power. Fold over half bonnet to become a car scoop. Fold down front grill for spikes. Gull wing doors with missiles on the ends. Pop out or off ( I'm undecided on which one ) battering ram fuel tanks....KaBoooooooom to the vehicle beside you. Possible sleeper box with fold over roof machine gun. Some sort of suspension. Trailer (may be) Push out rim spikes on second axle. Crane with harpoon gun, winch and claw grab. Saw blades, gotta have saw blades somewhere. Side car flipper arm/panel. Front compartment will house a massive jet engine. When in trouble the trailer will break off to reveal the jet turbine which stays on the back of the truck for an instant get away and fry the pursuit car behind you. I maybe a little too ambitious but the only thing stopping me is the hatted colors off all time Cursed black and clean White ( half of my Lego pieces). Here is what I have done so far. G'day and welcome to the forum. M motors are perfect to motorize this set. If you want to jump the gun here is one did some time ago http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/326542 There is a download link on the page. -
G'day everyone. Thought Id share the RC conversion I did on the 24 hr car. My sons have been racing it on smooth concrete so I didn't have to worry about torque, just speed. Using 2 L motors for drive, servo motor for steering and 2 M motors for the doors and rear hood. This setup is no good on carpet but if you swap the two bevel gears around on the fake V8 it can run on carpet. The pieces in pink are the pieces I added. The pieces in blue represent the servo motor and the ones in orange are the L motors. Sorry no video just a lxf file (Ldd) which can be downloaded from here: http://www.freespace.com.au/filehosting/2075 have fun if you build it.

A great review Jim. Just finished building this set. A couple of steps required abit of lego stressing to get together when there was an easier way. Just made it into RC ( almost finished it in LDD) which was easy to do as it has so much room for nearly any configuration of motors and not have them showing. A great set.

Absolutely stunning. An awesome design hiding the gears. Its very sleek and the white and orange color scheme is fantastic, The contours look like a koenigsegg agera r and the new Austin Martin GT 3 ran into each other to get one completely awesome car. I think it might of been asked but the dumb question is are there in instructions cause this ones a must?

[TC6] Hot Rod Wrecker [WIP]
jono rocky replied to Lipko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is an awesome build. Allowing proper space for wiring in these dimensions deserves a round of applause. Thanks for the ldd file it was a great build and perfect for the sbrick. -
I think we all need to agree to disagree on what we look for, what we build and what inspires us. If we all thought and did everything the same it would be a pretty boring contest with 43 of the same technic models ( and the lego group would never of come up with Benys spaceship so my youngest son wont be running around the house with it saying "spaceship, spaceship spaceshiiiiip"). Its great that the models are so different to each other eg. the loaders. Maybe the next contest should include a work in progress thread were people give advice on the build to help those (like on my first attempt which it helped me) who may need help. Lego real life replica models are truly amazing and we had a few in this contest where i had to look twice to see it was lego but on the other side of it all we had some truly original models like a spider. So its safe to say we are all original lego modders and thats what makes it interesting. Its time to move on and just be amazed in what was built. Just my 2c worth.

That is a great idea that the winners should show their entry again with the sbrick fitted.
