  1. Thanks Guys, I'm glad you find it is slightly disturbing soccerkid6 Thanks Si-MOCs. I suppose it doesn't really do this; "The vast variety of new parts, newly coloured pieces and minidolls can be integrated with any other LEGO theme, so show us how it's done!" . I nearly didn't enter because I don't have those colours and parts, but then I had the idea of going back to the 'genesis' of Friends... maybe all those parts and colours wouldn't exist yet . Regarding the side of the house I became obsessed with trying to create that 'Don't go into the basement' moment from horror films and I just had to base the walls on the famous Amityville house. Cheers Lightingtiger. Metropolis was another influence, I wanted to put rings around the Robodoll but didn't have the space (or parts ).
  2. "I make friends. They're not toys. My friends are not toys! I make them." Dr. Rob Ottick Catherine Rose's latest assignment is nothing more than a lifestyle piece, way below her skills as an investigative journalist, but then she hasn't had a scoop in months and her job is on-the-line. "What makes the people of Heartlake City so damn perfect? I mean c'mon it aint L.A. Now scoot!" that's what her editor had said right before he ushered her out the door, he'd also given her just 24 hours to bring in a story, or else... Eighteen hours later she knows she's onto something. A hunch has led her to the small town of Stepford on the outskirts of Heartlake, and the home of the enigmatic Dr Rob Ottick. If this thing is as big as she thinks, she'll be picking up a Pulitzer Prize... Dr Rob Ottick: Ah, Ms. Rose you're just in time, I've been expecting you. Catherine Rose: Gosh, you've... really got some nice toys here. RO: I make Friends. They're not toys. My Friends are not toys! I make them. CR: She's perfect, who is she? RO: My Friends are almost perfect, I have problems synthesising realistic hair. It's always too soft and a little spongy... You have beautiful hair Ms. Rose... I hope to take better/more pictures but time is against me due to a looming holiday so in the meantime here is my entry which is heavily inspired by the 1975 sci-fi classic 'The Stepford Wives' (and some other sci-fi/horror movies) .
  3. Had to be ruthless to narrow down to just five! Difficult choice... 2. JackJonespaw - 1 7. NinjaNin - 1 21. Rook - 1 23. Brickmamba - 1 28. wokajablocka - 1
  4. I like Hulk - or at least I prefer it to 'The Incredible Hulk'. Granted it's flawed but I like the way it was edited with the comic book style split screen effect. I didn't even manage to watch Electra all the way through and as for Ghost Rider II... the first one was bad enough so I won't be watching that until it appears on TV. Imho and as a general rule; if Nicholas Cage is in it, it's probably shit (a notable exception being Kick A-S-S). I'll look forward to your DDdc review Agreed, you don't get much better than Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian. I don't really get this thing of re-booting relatively new franchises, I haven't seen the new Spiderman movie yet, but before the reboot they were planning Spidey 4 & 5 with John Malkovich as the Raven! How perfect is that casting? Shame.
  5. Thanks for the nice review BrickBoy435 . I missed out on this set because of my dark-age but remember looking at pictures of it and hating the Dewback - I thought it was so un-Lego compared to the toy of my youth. I soon came to love the Dewback though, and picked up two copies and an extra Dewie off eBay. I have to admit I think the set is pretty poor - imho the 7110 Landspeeder is still the best that TLG has produced (if only for the compact size) but the exclusive Greedo helps make up for it and he still looks great compared to the highly detailed figs produced today. I hope we get a new version of this set in the future and I also hope that aside for some print, the Dewback will remain unchanged. It would also be nice to have a welcome return of Sand Red to Lego's colour palette.
  6. More details of the grand opening weekend are now online. I think I could live without a child size Lego T-Shirt but the other offers sound good - I wonder what the exclusive minifigs will be.
  7. Well a new timeline could sort out any discrepancies by creating one or more parallel universes, eg in the new timeline Xavier & Mystique might meet in a different way or he loses the use of his legs at a different time, we probably won't even see these events on screen but the excuse will always be 'well the timeline was changed...". It's an easy way to ignore the inconsistencies. It probably won't be long before this sort of thing happens in Clone Wars . Don't forget there are infinite dimensions where every possible event is played out Fox have until mid-October to start production of a new DD movie. I heard that the Director's Cut of the Ben Affleck movie was much better than the theatrical release, can anyone confirm that? I thought the Bryan Singer directed X-Men films were brilliant with X2 being up there with the best Super-hero films made to date (imo) - it's such a shame he choose to make Superman Returns instead of X3. I'd love to see X4 and 5 carrying on from where they left off, if they were done well of course (plus I have a bit of a crush on Famke Janssen ).
  8. Not sure if this is the right place for this but has anyone seen Warren Elsmore's Lego Olympic Stadium?. Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere - I did a search but couldn't find anything.

  10. More on Joss Whedon and Avengers 2 here. A recent update on that story suggests not: I read some speculation (can't remember where) that by using the time travel story they could remove any inconsistencies between the existing films by effectively creating a new timeline (just like Star Trek then). EDIT: Empire also have an in-depth look at the 'Days of Future Past' comic etc. here. Note to self: stop reading Empire and EB and do some work!
  11. Touché I received the goods today and I am my daughter is really pleased to have this nice little Friends set. The extra part of the prize (I'm still not telling purpleparadox) is a real bonus which I'm going to try to incorporate into my SoF entry (if I ever finish it). Thanks again Pandora and voters Cheers, Praiter
  12. Is this topic only for the intertwining cinematic universe of the movies made by Marvel or inclusive of movies made by other studios based on Marvel characters eg Spiderman, X-Men, Blade etc.? There's some news of movement on a Daredevil reboot here. Interestingly the article also mentions the possibility of a Fantastic 4 reboot and that Marvel are allegedly negotiating to retreive the movie rights of Silver Surfer and Galactus from Fox for Guardians of the Galaxy. I know this topic started with a GOTG focus and have to admit that for me the idea of a movie featuring a talking space racoon sounds awful but that could be because I've seen Alvin and the Chipmunks
  13. Sorry, but I don't understand this comment.
  14. Meesa like the Gungan being shoved with a brush
  15. Looking good Zackjords . I will also look forward to seeing more of your UCS Falcon. I you want to see more you could check out the LDD forum
  16. Thanks, I'm glad you like the explanation. I liked the idea of trying to describe all the parts and also give enough titbits of information for the reader to work out the back-story . Oh no, I must have misread the rules, I thought we had to make an encyclopaedia entry . But seriously, I had fun building it, inventing the 'story' and working on the presentation, of course it would be nice to get a place but with all the fantastic entries I think that will remain a dream. And thanks!
  17. Good idea with the jig. The face looks really young without the beard - very effective

  20. I watched Chronicle recently and was pleansantly surprised - didn't follow all the movie stereotypes I thought it would. Just watched Contagion on DVD - really good film - played the whole global pandemic scenario in a realistic way and made good use of a big name cast (only bad thing about it was Jude Law's dodgy Aussie accent ) .
  21. I haven't got it yet - but I don't think I'd tell you even if I knew - where's the fun in knowing? I can't wait to get it now though , I'll be giving my a package a really good checking .
  22. Since your comment on my entry I've been a little intrigued to see what you came up with (especially as I liked your Dewback so much!) and this doesn't disappoint. Great entry, I really like your use of the sail-barge sails as a canopy but the highlight has got to be R-2000! I don't think I've ever seen an Astromech-mech before I also really like your power droid tool droid. Good luck in the contest.
  23. I know it's immature but, right now I'm laughing in the style of Sid James Congratulations Jackjonespaw
  24. Oops that's what happens when you have too many windows open at once. Original post amended
  25. "Coming in Autumn" could they be any more vague!? When! When I ask!? - The trailer looks good or at least good for the ridiculously ott show DW has become. For some reason I always get overly excited about a new series of DW and then I'm generally disappointed. Still, here's a picture to get 'excited' about... The Doctor faces off against Daleks from every era!
