  1. That MOC is great, it ironically illustrates my point of view of where the entire 4+ Pirates line should end up: on the bottom of the deepest ocean.... :-/
  2. Dear Eurobrickers, I would like to present the most recent Legoland-scaled car I made: a Checker Taxi. It's made in twelve wide, with the rear extending to thirteen and I used pictures of the real cars to model it after. The front grill was one of the harder parts to do because it is one of the most typical things about those taxis in the USA. I think that part turned out quite nice. I am not so sure however, about the overall length-proportions of this vehicle and the amount of space behind the backwheels, it doesn't look exactly right but I don't know where the problem lies. What do you think? *Images clickable, last image links to BS gallery*
  3. Thanks for the explanations, really helpful! Wow! They look great, especiallly the Western one! Those wheels seem indispensable for making these kind of trains. Thanks, I don't have paypal so i I'd rather do business with European sellers concerning bankmoneyorders. Deutsch is no problem, I can read it like my mothertongue....
  4. Title says all really, while browsing lugnet I stumbled upon Big Ben Bricks with the custom trainwheels. I have a few questions about them: ~ do they run smoothly on Legotracks? ~ Are they worth buying? ~ Are they sold anywhere in Europe? Hope to hear some reactions from trainbuilders.
  5. Great tower, man... that thing sure is tall... 47 inch means 119 cm. 8-
  6. I used to be a Star Wars fan (stopped collecting sw lego in 2000), I saw all the movies but I don't remember seeing this apparatus in one of them. Nice work nonetheless, it looks just like the pictures you show! Some great way to seat all your clone-battle-pack-inhabitants.... :-)
  7. The 9 volt trains use the same width of six, the same magnet-connections and practically the same wheels as the old 9 volt trains and the same bases. Only thing is that the locomotives in the new rc trains have a new base (with some sort of block in the middle for the remote control), so apart from the locomotives everyting is rebuildable with old 9 volt parts. Hoping this helps... :-)
  8. welcome Paul, to Eurobricks, I am sure you'll have a great time here. Just keep on trying to convince your partner that lego is the best way to express ones creativity... :-)
  9. Both sides of the exterior are visible in the pictures, I haven't made any from the inside because of the closed structure. There is just a bench, a flowerpot and a small ticketbox inside, maybe I take some pictures of that later. I tried to capture as much as possible from the eighties look. I am going to make a stairway and bridge to another platform on the otherside of the track, just like the 7822 station from 1980. I just lack the 1x6 plates for the stairs right now...
  10. Hi fellow Eurobrickers! Two weeks ago I bought my first 9 volt train and some tracks, so the time came to make a suitable station somewhere along the line. This is my first attempt of making one (I never made a trainstation before, there is no need to without any trains...) and I am quite happy about the way it turned out. The station, loosely based on the station from lego in 1991, features two ticketboxes, a waiting room, a controlroom on the second floor and of course a platform with benches, departurelist and trashcan. The platform is not long enough to accomodate the entire metroliner, it's sticking out on both ends, but otherwise the proportions wouldn't look right. No particular reason for the name G
  11. Welcome Zouave, to our friendly forum. Purvis..? never heard of it, but it must be a great place to live. I like it when members write down their actual town/city instead of something like "the Star Wars Universe" or something. *y* Enjoy! :-)
  12. I am 22, so I have permission to buy all sets Lego ever produced, even the ones for 16 years and up. Yay! :'-)
  13. Nice houses, in the smaller versions they still look good. Great work! Funny you say that, all things I make are Simonteniously :-D Simon.
  14. Regarding the minifigs with solid/non solid heads I got a bit confused when I bought the 6396 airport: I bought it after I found it in the back of a dusty old toystore 3 years ago (yes they do excist, these stores :-D ). Inside this set there were eight minifigs, five of them had solid heads and three had hollow-ones, all in one set. This set is from 1990. It can be, however, that my copy was made in the years after 1990 and being in the middle of the solid-to-hollow change something got mixed up, but it's weird all the same. Now about those cannons: It is clear that the non-shooting ones were issued in the United States only, but when the re-release of the 6285 BSB came out, number 10040 it came with non-shooting cannons. I bought it in Europe from Lego Benelux....
  15. Actually it was the Dutch who founded New York city, so it is partly my penal colony and yes, I am the right kind of European to writing it! :-D
  16. I would really like to see some more adventurers-sets in the style of the 1998/1999 sets (the sets in the Egyptian desert and South American jungle). Maybe an ancient-Rome/Ancient Greek theme with lots of ruins and things. click
  17. I rated this set a 5/5. Why? Because it is a pirateset from 1989 with that authentic pirate feel to it, very charming. It is the only set of the 1989 pirate-release that I do not own yet, I don't know why really because, as mentioned before, it's quite cheap on bricklink and ebay... I am just waiting to find this set in the back of a dusty old toystore somewhere in Germany or in the Belgian Countryside, and believe me: someday I will *sweet*
  18. Today (well, actually yesterday) I bought numerous 9 volt track pieces for my recently acquired 4558 Metroliner, it now runs smoothly across my entire room, after buying 24 straight tracks, 20 curved ones and two switchpoints. All aboard....! :-)
  19. It does? I must have overlooked that and thought it was like NYPD (police) but fire (F) instead of police (P) Thanks, I'll change it. :-)
  20. Hi! I tried an American fire-engine myself some time ago, it's in eight-wide and has five 9v lights build-in. (Just click the image) Please post your moc when it's finished, I'd love to see it, good luck!
  21. Onlt thing is that te Arc the Triomphe was completed very long after Napoleon's death, he layed the first brick but never saw it as we do now.... :'-(
  22. Really clever putting those 4 wide windows partly behind the walls! (at least that's what I think you did...) I'll copy that when I buy this set. Great idea. :-)
  23. Happy birthday, you entire quartet! *sweet*
  24. Today I bought the 3442 California Truck, sealed in box in my favourite legostore in Alkmaar. Now I have all three versions of this wonderful truck, two yellow and one black/red. *wub*
  25. You must be a cityfan: you're entire country is a city! :-D Anyway, welcome to the forums!
