Welcome ! That is exactly what I think about those re-issue, I own all first releases and stopped collecting in 2002 for the same reason. Spot on! I am sure you will enjoy your time here, any particular reason for your name? Or is it just that you want to test some scissors on those re-issues :-D ?

Welcome mr. Supernova to this friendly community! Is there any time left for building with Lego when you are an (exchange?) student in a foreign country? What are you studying? I am a criminology student myself and there are quite some people here on the board that are (university) students as well. you probably are a Castle fan, being active on Classic Castle, got anything to show us? :-)

Welcome Duke to our forum! You prove what a great toy Lego actually is by making this cute little ship with lots of creativity and those nice logbricks. I think it looks good and I like the colorscheme. Where are you from, and do you have other Lego-interests next to pirates/Islanders? I am sure you will enjoy your time here. *sweet*

Thanks for the pictures *yoda* , this is an impressive set. As impressive as it is there are still some things I don't understand about this set: It looks like it could have been designed in the early nineties, Lego uses almost no new techniques/pieces, making it look kind of blocky. I assumed, when I read about this set, that Lego would use some new pieces to make it a smooth design. It is a good parts set though, lots of basic bricks and plates. That is the other thing I don't understand: why isn't the model brown? The real tower is....? Let's wait for the picturereview.

I like this ship a lot, it's different from most other pirateships we see around here on Eurobricks. The usage of just one hull midpiece makes this a short ship with masts that are pretty tall, but it gives the ship indeed a fast look. The overall shape reminds me of the Lego version of the Durmstrang ship (you know the Harry Potter one with those new junior hullpieces) if it had looked like the Mermaid I would certainly have bought it when it came out. The only thing I would suggest are perhaps some more windows in the back of the cabin where the nice little boat is attached. Good work, I think this ship will be of good use freeing those poor pirates strapped and tied up inside your beautiful Islander Village! *y*

two dollars and 35 cents is not very much for an Enchanted Island, I thought I was pretty lucky myself for buying the set MISB off ebay for 30 euros....

I can't understand why Lego uses those digitized pictures: is the real thing not good enough? Have they lost their camera? This set is not going to enlarge my collection I'm afraid, I am not a big fan of the racers-series. It's a bit to extreme looking for me.

Complete means in this case that I looked at the pictures and found out that the set appears to have all the pieces required. The instruction is also included (punch-holed I believe) but no box. I haven't received the set yet in the post so I am still waiting to verify it's completeness. :-)

I think you made a very beautiful scene! The WIP-thread already looked promising but the final result blows any Islander MOC away. I notice some yellowing on the white pieces used to make the throne, but in this case the colourvariations fit in just well, never thought yellowing actually could do some good in a model, it makes it look authentic in a way. Only thing I don't really like is the horrible colour of that light-pink bird... That little baby is a great idea, wrapped up against his mothers back. Those poor pirates... Great work *y*

Try the creating thumbnails tutorial you can create small pictures here that people can click to enlarge. Also theBatch image resize tutorial can be helpful But first one has to have a brickshelfaccount. Good luck!

I bought the quite rare 1656 fireset from 1992 off Marktplaats today. In the photo's it looks complete so I hope it will look like that in real time. It even has the white constructionhat instead of two firehelmets. Only 17,50 euros for this (on bricklink quite expensive) set.

Not only does that brick upfront hold the rearview mirror but also the SNOT frontpiece. Removing the brick that holds it all together will require another brick like this (two of those are used now) to hold the front with the headlights. I came across the same problem when making my european firetruck (the vehicle from the new firestation I based it on had the same problem), and solved it by putting one instead of two of those special bricks inside the cabin, in the middle next to the steering wheel. The design becomes less sturdy, but the car looks great with doors. The garbagetruck (13 euros right now here in Amsterdam!) has the same front. Click to enlarge.

I'm in love this little train ever since I saw it in the 1990 catalog (the first catalog I got). Those lugage-racks inside the wagons are superb! The price was just 50 euro's, including the batterytender, round track and 4,5v motor. With perfectly preserved instructions. I bought it (as always) off my favourite Dutch Marketplace..... Posted it in this thread as well.

Personally I recommend investing in the 9 volt tracks, I am doing just that right now and the prices may be a bit high, but not ridiculously. The 9 volt tracks look so much nicer (like traintracks instead of cheap plastic monstrosities) and any train will run on it. Recently I bought a 4,5 volt train from 1985, number 7715, and with a batterytender and motor attached it runs nicely on my 9v tracks.

Thanks for the review. What a great set this is in all it's simplicity and boxiness. Maybe lego thinks that a normal civilian car doesn't sell anymore these days, I say: bring one out and every legofan will prove the opposite! You do? I can't see them, are they used somewhere else in the truck than up front?
-
Posting my civilian car: a tuned minivan. Yes a van, but still "a car you would see some random person driving" Here it is in blue: (click to enlarge) Brickshelf folder (when public) I hope I didn't violate the contest entry regulations by posting this motorvehicle... *sweet*

Weird poll this is.... Anyway, I voted for the number four classic lady. :-)

Look! look! I know what it is..... It's Darth Vader! :-D No seriously, it's a frog sitting on something that makes it look like an owl... 8-| -
I bought an additional red-and-blue wagon for my 7715 4,5 volt train off my favourite Dutch Marketplace for 15 euros. This 4,5v train runs nicely on the 9 volt track by the way powered by the motor and supplied with a batterytender.

Wow! I am definetely going to buy this set any time soon! I never thought there were going to be any windows in the structure, but those large ones from the Basketballsets look great. Lovely ticketbox, the swivel entry fence looks kind of pointless though, but that one can be removed easily. The bar is quite nice with those two see-through closets (fridge?) and cashregister. Just one thing: Why isn't Amsterdam on the departurelist, it was on most of the other stations lists....? :-( :-D

I think it's a frog... I do agree with what was said before about the advanced techniques, there are so many details in this set that the building itself drowns in it. Only advanced detail that I really like is the rounded stairway leading to the main building. -
Lego certainly put a lot of effort in this set, creating all those little details. I like the engine in the ship (although it looks a litttle small for powering such a huuuuge ship...) and the details together with Steven Spielberg on the bridge. It's no buy for me however, the ship is much to big and too much out of one piece. I am still searching, eventually I will succeed, for the 6542 harbour set (I already own the sets's instructions and original stickersheet) because I like that one more than this new set.
-
Welcome to Eurobricks! You made a very impressive ship, I particularly like the use of the Diversets' panes used on the sides of the cabin, it looks just right. Keep up the good work! *y*

Thanks for the review! In the days that I was a fan of Star Wars I bought the old version with a stunning seven battledroids included and lots of empty space inside the beast... *sweet* The old one had it's charms, a good amount of basic building bricks in old brown and lots of plates. I like the new model, it looks just like George Lucas meant it to be. Only downsides: the price and the fact that the top row of droids can't be folded to the same level as the row underneath to be deployed in the war.
