Uh... what's an ICQ or Jabber?

Terry Crews, I agree. That being said, after the show ended I was wasked with helping clear photos we could use. I didn't get to clear any of Terry's stuff, but showcasing his connection would've really helped. Stepping back from challenges and show and all of that, I think this is what the heart of the show is: embracing the absurd. How many times did we as kids go up to parents with a terrible looking spaceship or car or superhero base and say to family "Look at this!" I'm guessing a lot of us did, and I think that's what a lot of people are missing in the ciriticism of the show. People expect (and should expect) big, elaborate designs, but that kid-like sense of wonder should be present. LEGO is generally a kid's toy afterall. I count myself lucky that I was able to get suggestions on my MOCs from Brickmaster Amy, and I can absolutely see where she comes from regarding builds and what she personally is looking for in creations. As we get older, I think, people generally lose their connection to being absurd/kid-like or inhibit it because of what society tells them, or what they think society tells them. On to last night's episode, we had maybe the most stressful episode possible for me. At the point of this episode shooting, we only had one more episode to go. Everything was locked and ready to go. What the big problem was, for me, was how to pull this monster of an episode off. And for everyone arguing "AT-AT" vs "AT-AT," in my department there was no consensus, as we had all grown up over various points. We went by what Lucasfilm directed us to say. I personally say "AT-AT." Good luck choosing which version I say. Before we got to the episode shooting, we knew this one was coming up, so LEGO sent us numerous parts to use, as you an see in the episode when contestants go to the black drawers. Those were organized similar to the official set, just for the new SW parts. I swear to god, I've never seen so many Star Wars minifigures in my life. As a huge Star Wars fan and obviously LEGO fan, I was asked to come up with ideas for iconic Star Wars scenes. I'll let you know I jokingly advocated for the Attack on the Jedi Temple as an option. We ended up getting it down to an undisclosed number, and then I was tasked with bricklinking the parts LEGO did not make currently to get what what was needed for scenes people might pick. I spent hours on that site (this was also around the time TLG bought Bricklink, and I got to talk with Jamie and Amy about it) trying to get all possible figures (or figbarf them) to get to the ten moments that were shown on screen. We had ten bags, one for each scene, with specific named characters in them that teams coud use as a baseline, just in case someone picked a scene with an iconic character and another team couldn't hoard all the torsos of a character, just to be safe. Nathan Sawaya also came by set to see all of his builds that were featured in the show. One of the testers and I got to build alongside him for a scene in case they wanted to use it, and that was awesome, because we got to work with him. Nice guy. And I got some cool pics with R2-D2 and BB-8, so I'm happy.

Definitely not the world's largest collection, unless you specify unique minifigures. And even then, what defines unique? No repeated torsos? The LEGO Masters wall had nearly that many minifigures, and that's not including all of the parts that were in the drawers and backstage. Granted, there would be repeats, but still. And that probably doesn'q qualify as a collection since it was sent by TLG for a specific purpose.

Hey! That's my tag!

I felt the same about you!

I'm in for 3. I was Ansel, and then Louis.

Sadly I didn't, the only talent I got to talk to were the Brickmasters and Will (regarding Yorick and where to grab that finicky thing). As for the judging, I have no say or knowledge of how they came to the decision, but that one was a toss up for me. I love Tyler and Amy's use of SNOT (similar to their bridge) and how seamless it was, like you said. But Mark and Boone's creativity was just rock solid, as always.

Thanks! Americans have an odd sense of humor, if you ask me, and I'm American. We all were surprised honestly. It zoomed down the track. So Wednesday was Super Hero episode. It had one of my (modified) builds, the button. It was a rework of the detonator from episode 2, and it needed to be smaller for the Super hero idea. I also added a clear "protective glass" cover that could be flipped up, using those curved transparent elements that you see in the Downtown Diner and some 1x6x5 wall pieces. I really was helping prep for the next episode with making sure we had everything we needed, etc., but I'll soeak on that in two weeks after it airs. I'm glad to see people are enjoying it.

THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!
KotZ replied to Another Brick In The Wall's topic in LEGO Pirates
I like both versions. The original of course is fantastic, but it's very dark in color and feel. Very much a pirate version of the Old Fishing Store. The final set is definitely a throw back to Classic Pirates and very bright. The original also looks like it just might be too big for an official set, but who knows. I would love to see the original Ideas set in real bricks, but I'm happy we get a new ship, and hopefully get some new Pirates sets. -
Thanks! And yes, tiles are going on the walls for the studs facing out. I've just run out of tiles at the moment.

Former Total Noob (now just noob) starts Castle Project
KotZ replied to derEselausErgste's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Looking good so far! I also am doing a WIP castle, so it's fun to see what you're doing and how we're differing. Good idea on using technic for the supports. -
Sorry, I should've explained myself better. What I meant to say was that we can get some semblance of normal life again in two-four weeks, especially since people need to work, eat, etc. And you're right, we'll probably have smaller outbreaks as we go along, but hopefully we can get over the bad part relatively soon.

If I'm not mistaken, it's also possible Bonaparte has his settings to turn off showing his most recent activity. And as Peppermint_M said, purchasing the forum isn't similar to purchasing other goods or companies.- 75 replies

Hopefully in the States we can get panic buying under control within two weeks once people realize you don't need thousands of rolls of toilet paper. And to wash your hands. I've read some places say it could end around August, but I'm hopinh, and thinking it won't last that long. As long as people quarantine responsibly for the next two-four weeks, cases in the US should go back to normal. As for LEGO, at least we have LDD.

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
KotZ replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I feel like Kamino would be easy if you do it right for sets that are similar to those Hoth ones that came out. Call it a Kamino training center with two or three clones, a Kaminoan, and targets and some actiony elements. A Slave I like the one from Cloud City, and landing pad and "inside" behind doors could be an $80-90 set. -
We had Space Police III during Star Wars' run, as well as Mars Mission. I think if LEGO made clear it's not a Star Wars ripoff, or even brought back the monorail (please), they could do it.

You can say the same thing with other evergreen themes. How many times can they build a hospital/police station/bus/gas station/etc. Exactly. Star Wars is just a retelling of the Hero's Journey, etc. Back to Ninjago, I don't follow the lore, so I don't know how close or far they are from a planned end (if they have one) or if they have an end that is ready whenever LEGO says "It's done," and every wave between now and then is filler. I can see it going for two or three more years. Bionicle went 10 years as well and still had story to continue before it was axed. Ninjago was also planned to end in 2013 and then came back and is still going. As for after, it would probably be another Big Bang-mashup. Ninjago is fantasy ninjas crossed with city and sci-fi. Nexo Knights was fantasy knights crossed with sci-fi. Personally, I'd love sci-fi pirates. There'd be a good variety of alien parts and minifigure torsos, and you can touch on a big story, like characters searching for a specific treasure, or if they want that group mentality, a group of pirates coming together on a ship to steal the map to a treasure, and then the next wave is searching for it, and so on.

I'm enjoying the minifigure accessories from what I've seen. I'll probably pick up a few.

That's awesome! Congrats, Soccerkid6!

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
KotZ replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
All four of those are must gets for me. I'll aim for the knight and viking most. We need a gold knight soon though. The pirate girl's hat/hair and legs will be useful for figures, too, at least for pirate stuff. -
Are forums still relevant when compared to comments?
KotZ replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So you're saying to make forums relevant we need to make a Eurobricks Tik-Tok? In all seriousness, forums are still relevent, especially for niche items like tech. The discussions on other LEGO sites that are more article based or Reddit just aren't as good, due to easy comments, difficulty in finding that one topic from years ago you need to see, etc. I think forums as a whole will continue to be less used, but they will level out in time and have a consistent usage.- 75 replies

I just started working from home, thankfully. At least I'm surrounded by my bricks. But Koalayummies is right, we've probably gone way off topic. And yes, forums are still relevant.- 75 replies
