  1. You didn't even know Kyle was Fred, Karen. You thought I was Kristel! I did a lot of skimming as well when there were massive posts, especially when there was personal attacks thrown in.
  2. Thanks for a fun, great game, Bob! Hahahahaha! You couldn't tell it was me, Kyle? But seriously, I tried really hard to change up my playstyle for this one, and I learned a lot just reading and sitting back in this game, especially once I was confirmed to be the town blocker. My totally destroyed sleeping schedule due to covid-19 also really helped with trying to appear in a different timezone. It's good to see some older players come back!
  3. The Hisorical subforum has some western MOCs that might give some good inspiration.
  4. Thanks! The jackets were actually the easiest part. It took me so long to figure out the scale I wanted, and I experimented with more cartoony faces rather than true Miniland-style.
  5. Oh what a night. More inspired by Jersey Boys with the background, but still. My first time building miniland scale figures.
  6. They already have Gill Man in the movies, might as well. I just hope they keep the animations similar to how they looked, like stop-motion, and not like the LEGO games or Ninjago show. I think the deal expired awhile back but negotiations with Universal had been ongoing. These deals take so damn long, so many eyes have to go across them and sign off.
  7. LEGO and Universal just signed a 5 year movie deal. Seems with LEGO's deal with WB having expired, Universal snatched up the rights. I'm curious what this would mean for films in the future, since WB (according to Wkipedia) is still holding the rights to characters like Emmet and Wyldstyle, and the supposed Batman sequel. I'm guessing no LEGO Movie 3 would happen due to the rights, but hopefully some fun new things happen.
  8. You bet your sweet bippy I do.
  9. It looks really good. The trailer got me really hyped up for it. Before seeing the gameplay, I was worried it was basically going to be a walking simulator, but the gameplay video has me pleasantly surprised. Even if TLG shuts this down before people can play it, it's very impressive what they've done. The graphics are crisp.
  10. Think of it like meeting a Disney princess.
  11. This is stunning. Exactly what you imagine when you think of the interior of a castle. Fantastic work.
  12. I can definitely see how it went, as well as other combinations (keeping vague for those that haven't seen the episode yet) Taking this comment out of spoiler, but if we get a season 2, I do hope I get asked back. I had done some preliminary stuff during season 1 that would help for a possible S2 (all shows do this to prepare for possible renewal, please don't kill me anyone if we do or don't get S2), and I got close to higher ups on that show and previous (although LinkedIn and other job sites are probably better to explain what everything). I was told by immediate bosses they'd bring me back, so hopefully we get another season so I can show more LEGO skills and work-related skills, but it's life. Definitely been a fun moment of my career if we don't go forward, and if we do, then I'm excited to see where we go. What are you talking about? Who's Anthony Daniels? We had C-3PO on set.
  13. Glad you guys liked it. Comparing the US version to Australia, I belive Australia actually had full hour long episodes or close to it instead of 42~ minute because of American commercials, and that allowed them to show more of building. I think on one of the websites they have more stills and videos of final models. Since I was there on set I was able to get a good look at each one, and they definitely stand out better in person.
  14. Depending on the size of the set's box, I've seen Creator Expert sets come in three's.
  15. So that's why there are so many cops in LEGO City! Everyone is pretending to be a cop and just manages to get a cop car
  16. There's a lot that goes into the judging. Brickset had a ood interview with the judges on what they look for. I got to see all of these builds up close, and personally I agree, up top at least in the build. After the amount of Star Wars minifigures we got, I never want to see another Star Wars minifig again They had First Order troops in the drawers, and I supplied my own personal collection of Resistance figures before the challenge started (I supplied some BURPs that were used for a one of those quick learning segments, but it was cut; I happened to be the only person with those parts and had to race home to get them for shooting. I told the producers they were lucky they hadn't been implemented in my castle yet.). I don't know how/what affects the judging (I suggest going to the aforementioned brickset article) All I think I can say is they definitely had enough source material reference, without giving too much away or possibly ruining possible future challenges in possible future seasons that are similar. They always say the key to a happy crew is good crafty and catering. So being in the TV world and being in California with specific laws regarding meals and breaks in production, we generally filmed over a few days, otherwise nobody would be able to shoot. The crew (cameras, producers, me, PAs, etc.) and talent all have mandatory meals after 6 hours of call time, otherwise we go into meal penalty, which is basically us getting money as compensation for not having a full 30 minute lunch/dinner/midnight snack or being late to lunch. So that means these penalties get really expensive. We (crew) work 12 hour days. The cast had less because of scheduling, but we all broke for meals at the same time. So there was a dedicated hour lunch that everyone puts cameras and bricks down to go eat. We had crafty (snacks) off camera for people to munch on and bathrooms nearby. So if a contestant needed to grab a snack or go to the bathroom, that was on build time, and they did build the full length of the timer. I wish we could show more (darn commercials). I had never used them either prior to the show, so testing the power functions and elements was fun for me to make sure we knew how these things worked, if a bit confusing because technic just isn't my thing. The contestants are living my dream and definitely made some cool stuff within 8 hours. I guess it's time management and the pretty good organization of all the brickson set, if I toot my own horn. But on a serious note it comes down to knowing time management and what the limitations of this medium are. I've actually started timing myself building now just to see how I do in x-hours. The scale of the AT-ST doesn't bother me (I got to handle that thing and it looks cool), and I personally put Sam and Jessica's Crait as my top as well, because of the motion. You nailed all my thoughts regarding Hoth. It's not color all the time, but the illusion of color and movement, in my opinion.
  17. I'd love to run/play a test quest in the next month if we get some interest. I think what we really need now after Endgame's quest is to isolate different parts that really need testing and hammer those out. For example we do a quest that is basically just battles to text mechanics of movement, magic, weapons, etc. We do a quest that basically is only non-combat things regarding economy and worldbuilding. We do a quest with Heroes of varying levels to see how we can make the mechanics of the game stand better against powercreep.
  18. I'm liking it so far. It's a building that usually isn't seen, be it a store like Party City for Halloween-style uniforms or something you'd find more similar to where people would by scrubs for working in a hospital. So A+ on that. Personally, I prefer the modular style of buildings, but that's my opinion. For going for the 3-in-1 and more classic style, you've got that down. I echo what TeriXeri said about the bases being 8x16 rather than 6x16, but that sidewalk is pretty nice. I would suggest going for the full 8x16 for the floorplan, and then add another layer of plate at the bottom to extand out by two studs for the sidewalk. It would also give a built in curb for city streets. The stickers are a great touch, and smart idea of using the camera for security. And that radar piece for the metal detector And as Pdaitabird pointed out, that cash register/POS system is ingenious. Usually I've seen and used them with the 1x2 and 2x4 rocker pieces, but I think yours gives a modern feel. My biggest suggestion is texturing. I know LEGO doesn't make the 1x2 masonry bricks in that blue, but I think just a bit of color variation or part something to break up the single wall plane of wall-to-window-to wall would really help and make it pop. The gray floor helps, but I think some SNOT bricks with tiles going up the side would really help it not blend in. If you do more builds in a city layout, then I don't think it would be a big problem, but by itself it makes it sort of "one note" to say. Just even tile going vertically on the first level would look cool.
  19. I don't know how much business in-store PAB and BAM are, but they're great for impulse buying or if anyone wants to just have random parts to give to someone and don't know what they would like, etc. I hope they keep the wall once this all settles down.
  20. Rowboat?! Why I oughta... I love interiors for builds. It's half the fun of building for me. I grew up playing with LEGO, and I'll be damned if I stop making interiors/play features for my younger self. For me, if there's not an interior or something fun/active about a build I do that's in minifig-scale, then I'm missing out on something important. Besides. What use is a ship with 84 guns if there's no crates and barrels of shot? What use is there of quarters and cabins if the officers don't have a place to eat?
  21. Haha yes, now aka "The Fortress." Took way too many working hours, especially on the sails. I would estimate maybe 15-20 overall for just build? Mainly due to experimenting on the hull and tumblehome. Rendering the photos took probably 1 or 2.
  22. If a mod could edit the title to Class 9, that would be awesome. And thanks. The bow was probably the most difficult part for me. I’ll definitely fix that for next time. Thanks! The sails took a little bit of trial and error, and lots of cursing at the hinge button in LDD. Thanks! I originally was going to use the official anchors, but those were too small. I then brickbuilt them but they were too big. For the tumblehome, Invicta’s guide as a two decker, and I think it looks better as a two decker with just one “slope”. Next large ship I’ll do will probably try doubling that tumblehome technique. Thanks! Glorious was what I was going for!
  23. A Napoleonic inspired Ship of the Line for glorious Oleon. Heavily inspired by Wellesly's HMS Persephone and Invicta's hull/tumblhome technique on YouTube. She has 84 guns and three decks. 36-pounder guns on the lowest deck, 24-pounder everywhere else. The galley and chimney.
  24. I'm not even that young and that all loooks so foreign to me. I agree thought, some updates would be nice.
