I like idea with trigger. It makes this helicopter different from all others I've seen before.

I like your idea to build motorbike out of quad bike. To make it perfect I recommend you to work more on design and model solidity.

I've built several new Creator alternative models since my last post. At first I've built lawn mower out of set 31002. Then I've built 4 different alternatative models out of set 31017: plane, helicopter, formuta 1 and motor boat. This set is really good for building alternative models. And finally I've built yellow lobster out of set 31023. Originally I wanted to build propeller plane but it ran wild little bit... It features posable claws, legs and tail. Cool idea! I'm surprised how many functions you've made with limited amount of gears. If you improve overall design it will be great alternative model.

Thank you once more for such a possitive feedback. I'm able to make it steering easily but I don't think it's good idea due to very big steering radius and use of pull-back motor.

Since I didn't find any pull-back motorbike I've decided to build one out of set 42010. It was great challenge to create another alternative model with such a limited amount of bricks. Its only feature is pull-back motor. It's also solid enough to not fall apart when it crashes into wall. And these are left over parts: If I find more time I'll build something bigger. I wanted to build plane out of set 8041 (race truck) but it has 8 pieces over limit...

Cool alternative model! It's the best alternative model built out of this set I've ever seen (except my front-end loader). I am impressed that you used almost all parts from set. Also color scheme looks great.

I'm curious about model built out of bricks - LDD model looks promising. Your model also remembered me another awesome alternative model built out of this set.

I'd like to ask if you would allow me to build alternative model for this contest out of set 8041? It has just 8 parts over limit... I swear I won't use more than 600 parts in my alternative model.

I like your speedboat and helicopter - they are awesome! I've also received this set and wanted to build helicopter but without success. So I've built Scouting vehicles. My alternative model consists of BIG monster pick up truck and snow mobile that is able to carry 2 minifigs.

In some way it is easier to build alternative model than building out of unlimited source of bricks. At least you don't have to think about which bricks you will use. All bricks you can use are already defined by set you've chosen.

I haven't bought any of 2014 sets BUT... ...I've won 42020 (helicopter) in contest on Technicbricks and received 42024 (container truck) from Jan Beyer to build him some alternative model out of it. I also plan to buy 42029 (pick up truck).

Great review! I plan to buy this set and build some custom alternative models out of it. It looks like excellent set for building anything. I think it should be possible to build even creature out of this set due to big amnout of plates for hinges.

My latest alternative model would be good entry to Technic Mini Build Contest but I've finished it too late... I've built mini propeller plane out of set 42020 (twin rotor helicopter) that whirls its propeller when you're moving it around.

I'm glad to introduce you my latest alternative model - skid steer loader built out of set 42024 (container truck). This time I've decided to present it differently - I'd like to show you how I built it before I describe what it features. It all began in January when I've received set 42024 from Jan Beyer. He asked me to build alternative model out of this set. At first I've got idea to create skidder. So I built grapple, jib and gearbox and I've found out that wheels are too small... So I've begun looking for something with smaller wheels and I've found articulated wheel loader. I built bucket and at least ten variants of jib till I've found first that worked well. Then I've found out that wheels are still too small... Finally I've decided to build skid steer loader. There is the first working prototype of loader at next picture. It is combination of chassis based on alternative model of set 8071, jib with bucket, gearbox and outline of cab. Main building process has begun right after dismantling first prototype. I've put together solid chassis and frame of superstructure and install all gearings inside. Loader at next picture looks very close to final model. And this is final model of skid steer loader. It took me half a year to build it. Final version has shorter rear, finished cab with seat and tuned up color scheme. Now let's check what this loader features: front and rear axle steering jib lifting bucket tilting gearbox for switching between functions operated by exhaust pipe easily removable bucket Due to big amount of left over parts I've got idea to add one more tool that would replace bucket - forks. Forks features adjustable width and are supplemented with one pallet where you can put some load (for example last pair of wheels). There are more pictures here.

Thank you for your acclaim. I use LPub for exporting building instructions (it's software out of ldraw family) and SR 3D Builder for building. I've checked your alternates and I have to say you've got talent for cars.

You've asked for killer whale and it's here! I think this is the best alternative model I've ever built. It combines smart use of SNOT (studs not on top) technique with many movable parts - tail, flippers and maw. It's also pretty sturdy and built only out of parts from set 31021.
