Awesome! I haven't thought that it is possible to build such a huge structures. I think you had to use even ledder for building these cranes, didn't you? -
Tomik's Creations

It's finally here! What? My 10th alternate model from set 8048! To be honest, it’s not totally my creation and it’s not built only from parts that set 8048 contains. And what am I speaking about? I’m speaking about motorization of this set. In the past I saw several attempts to motorize it and most of them were awful or even worse. The best version I saw was built by Czech AFOL eNTy but he used “NON-Lego” battery attached by rubber belts under cabin. So that time I gave up motorizing this buggy. Few days ago I came back to this idea and began trying it again. The greatest problems were placing battery box and attaching motors. In the end I did it. Battery box is placed on rear part of vehicle above motor which is powering rear wheel (yes, it’s just one wheel drive). Thanks to this I had to remove rear axle suspension so it has front axle suspension only. Steering has “return to center position” feature provided by rubber belt from Creator set 5763. And one more note: only parts I’ve added are 2 M-motors, 1 battery box, 1 IR receiver, 1 IR controller and 1 rubber belt from set 5763 (I think it’s possible to use any other as well). All other parts were already included in set 8048.- 165 replies

I’m glad to show you my latest creation. It took me one night and two mornings to build this dragster as the 9th alternate model from set 8048. It features V4 engine with rear wheel drive and front axle steering.- 165 replies

Sounds funny... :) I have to say it was not so easy way for me neighter. I built head in moment but building body was looong process with few dead ends. I also made few improvemts according to comments at czech Lego forum.- 165 replies

Thank all of you for your compliments! To RohanBeckett: I know about this numbers... Just it needs more time than I have to beat this record and this is not my only set where I create alteranate models. Anyway I would like to reach at least number 10 ;) To technicmad: Are you speaking about tyrannosaur or about trike?- 165 replies

So rest of my creations from set 8048 is below: The second model was propeller plane which turns propeller when it is moving. It is such a simple toy plane for children. The third model was more serious – it was trike with two seats and V4 engine. Helicopter came as the fourth model. It moves both propellers when gear on side is being turned. This picture just shows older version which I’ve already improved little bit. The fifth creation is T-rex trike. It is my most complex model from this set. It features V2 engine, front wheels steering and front wheels independent suspension. The sixth model was my first Lego Technic animal. I built wasp which flaps wings when its abdomen is being turned. It also has moving head and rear legs suspension :) Building instructions for this model are available at buildinst. Next creation was rabbit. I tried to invent some kind of hopping mechanism but this idea failed. :( At least it lifts its head and front legs up when you press its tail. And the last is my lovely tyrannosaur. It has almost no functions (just opening maw) but it looks cool. I was surprised how well those red panels fit for its head.- 165 replies

Frankly speaking, this set is something unusual. I tried to build alternative models from other Creator sets but I was not very successful so I moved all my effort to build from Lego Technic. Anyway I have something more to share: This is formula 1 built from set 5763 And this is my last animal from set 4916 up to date - grizzly bear You can also check my Lego Technic creations here.

I was amazed as much by grohl’s creations from mini Creator set 4916 as I bought this set too and began building. It was great challenge to build something what wasn’t already built by grohl. Soon I found few favourite animals of mine which were not built yet and here they are: Rabbit with carrot was the first – I love rabbits! Frog on water lily was the second. The third animal was another cute pet – dachshund. The fourth animal was camel (dromedary). The fifth creation was couple of animals – cat and mouse (almost like Tom & Jerry :) Soon beaver came as the sixth creation. After modifying beaver I’ve got squirrel which has already been the seventh creation. I’d like to show you last animal for this time - mountain goat. It's my number 8. If you like my little animals you can find building instructions for all of them at my website buildinst and few more pictures in my brickshelf gallery

I'm back to show you how my "building career" began. But first I'd like to thank you for your replies. So my first MOC was motorbike built from set 8048. I've got idea to build motorbike from this set thanks to similarity to my first Lego set ever - 8829 (main model was similar red buggy as in 8048 and alternative was motorbike). After some time I created motorbike with V2 engine, rear wheel suspension and turnable stand. This model also started my line of alternative models from set 8048. Now I'm at number 8 (motorbike, plane, trike, helicopter, T-rex trike, wasp, rabbit and tyrannosaur). It is almost nothing comparing to grohl's 29 alternative models from set 8271 but I still keep on building... If you have set 8048 in your collection and you'd like to build this motorbike, you'll find building instructions at my website buildinst.- 165 replies

It is awesome model with as many functions as I've got lost in them. I'm looking forward to watching video to understand what it can do... -
MOC Revolutions
Tomik replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I tried LSynth once without great success and I was able to see this flexible parts only in MLCad and not in LPub. I think there was something wrong in my settings... SR3D Builder is much better but its generated flexible parts are not visible in LPub neither. So I will keep trying. -

Your renders are simply awesome - great job! May I ask you how you create all those bent parts like flexible axles and tubes? I use SR3D Builder for creating building instructions for my MOCes and I am lost with flexible parts... -
8109 flatbed truck
Tomik replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think it can be called "Panel Truck". In comparison to container truck 8052 this one is surely bigger, contains plenty of panels and I expect there is plenty of gears too. B-model is more interesting than 8052 alternate as well and I like its scissor mechnism. Maybe, I will add it to my collection... by the way is any front view to B-model available? -

You can see below how I made steering. It was the easiest way how to transfer torque without enough gears.- 165 replies

Before I’ll show you my first steps with creating alternative models, I would like to introduce you my most complex model up to date – propeller plane from set 8068. It took few days to put all functions into this medium-size model and give it realistic design. Plane features: turning ailerons and elevator via stick in cockpit – honestly they turn in opposite way to real planes but even this was great success for me working landing gear – you can open front landing gear or hide it under wings via turning gear in front of cockpit, rear landing gear is fixed Plane with hidden landing gear Plane with opened landing gear Landing gear in motion- 165 replies

Thank you for your comments. I am pleased that you like my telehandler. I also plan to create building instructions for this model and add it on my web buildinst (just it will take few weeks). I have more to show so you can expect other creations soon. I've got one more idea for another alternative model too (I hope it is different to yours) just I have same problem with time...- 165 replies

Let me introduce myself and tell you something about this new topic. Some of you may know me in connection with modification of alternative model from set 8052. I modified it into truck with work platform last summer and provided you building instruction via brickshelf. It is not my only creation so I decided to share my other creations with you too. One more note before introducing my models – I am focused on building models from one set so they could be named as “unofficial alternative models”. It’s enough about me and let’s look at what I have for you now! This is truck with work platform I spoke about above. My latest creation is “telehandler” also from set 8052. Honestly it doesn’t have telescopic boom but at least it looks like it has... :) It features following functions: lifting boom via linear actuator and medium motor with gear ratio 1:3 (it is as slow as lifting container in main model) rear axle steering with eccentric control via beacon on roof of cabin – this was little puzzle because lack of bevel gears front stabilizers which are able to lift front wheels little bit above land adjustable rear mirror (I like especially that one on side of battery box)

Hi Folks, I'm creator of this truck with work platform and I have good news for you. Even i lost all pictures of last dismantling I built it again to last pin same as first time. I'd like to make instructions in LPub but I have no experiences with digital building except LDD. So in nearest days I'll be able to give you just photos of assembly. If you wanna see more pictures click here.
