Technic 2017 Set Discussion
GoldVillage replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Based on price i highly doubt that the "RC" tracked racer has anything to do with remote control. Its just a given name, like i.e Honda and Yamaha names some of their motorbikes "RC". Its probably some kinda snowmobile, and if licensed then the real brand will come out later. -

42053 - Volvo EW160E

Alot of pics here, also a video of demonstrating the power functions http://www.techlug.fr/review-lego-technic/42053/pelle-sur-pneus-volvo-ew160e-42053--2016 -
Nice idea, but not as a flagship nor even as a large set, and definitely not RC. And how would a harvester be "advanced"? all there is to it is driving around with the rotating harvest attachment which includes raising/lowering function, but still. Remember 8274 - 1000+ pieces and like 2 functions ;) With such limited functions and playability this should only working as a medium size set, tops. But could still be good!

Impressive work! btw "two parts shy of the official count" = 2 manuals? -

To my surprise it has! (something like 1097, so not 1166 like i was saying all the time hehe) but it could be alot of leftovers after building the excavator, or the alternative model as well. They said in the interview video that it was alot of elements the L30G didnt share with the excavator, so they perhaps throwed in alot of extra pieces to accomplish it. In one way or another all of this for like 90 euro! thats good. That would be a monstrosity! but they probably will use the claas tires for their farmer series, and stick with volvo/unimog tires for something like that. Will still be huge and impressive -
42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator

Besides the obvious differences we can see in the front, they are sharing the same chassi and steering except the differences that was made to eliminate the gears and chain (for engine), other than that the bed goes deeper in to the cab but the lifting mechanism seems to be the same. -

Its available from a few sellers at ebay as well, from 89.90 euro, which is approx 10-20 euro less than the 42052 helicopter. -

Some new pics! http://www.promobricks.de/lego-technic-volvo-ew-160e-42053-alle-set-bilder-im-detail/17154 -
Just another master piece since im a nab with compressors i have to ask, does the hoses have a different length for a reason i.e because of the motion of the compressor? (im talking about the last piece of hosing going from each pair of pumps, hooked up to the T, one are long and another one is short)

42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator
GoldVillage replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Interesting theory, but considering how weak the lego motors are and how slow everything spins and turns, thats not the reason. Nothing is gonna happend if the bucket wheel keep hitting the ground with full force, it will just come to a standstill eventually. -

Seriously?! you make it sound like theres nothing under the panels in 8043. Lets have a look: Packed with gears. But on the other hand, theres actually nothing under the panels and beams on the VOLVO excavator - this for making room for pneumatic switches and hoses. IF the Volvo excavator alone do have the claimed piece count of 1166, then they for sure has overdone black and blue pins just to get a high piece count - i.e connecting every beams together with like 5-10 pins instead of the more normal 2-4. -
<-- (galaxy commander) and it was for xmas, dont remember what year... probably 1984 or 85.

Simplest explanation is common sense, just put it into perspective and compare it to 8043... For the excavator itself im guessing 766 -

Good pics. Still wondering where they have hided all the supposed 1166 pcs. Maybe it comes with about 400 pieces of candy that is included in the count, so you can either eat it, or dig with it -
Same here! after all, with sets having 1000's of parts and the instructions has 100's of pages, mistakes could easily appear. And this was a minor one ;) TY alot Jim for another amazing review of an amazing lookin car.
