Yes this year has surpassed any normal norms... but It could be a problem if the bar is set too high (just look at the original star wars trilogy :P) so i dont hope they feel some kinda obsession to attempt raise the bar every year, but instead giving us a smart and creative choose of sets. If the rumors are true this is the first time we getting 3(!) motorized 2H sets?, and one of them will probably even include a new RC system. However i mostly looking forward to the volvo excavator for the price of approx 70 euro (or was it dollar?) it could have 3 pneumatic cylinders and that would do the job fine, the rotating bucket (if it has one?), stabilizers, and the blade could be operated by gears.

Thats interesting ;) with that method they could just thrown any 2 vehicles they want in one box and then claim "largest technic set ever with 3000+ pieces" Why not the 42009 crane and the Arocs in same box, first ever 5000 pieces set. Approx the same size as the blue tracked crane, maybe slightly larger.

A safe bet is not, because the IP car most likely will be. But im worried about the volvo excavator, for 50 euro we will barely get an empty box with stickers, the license alone probably cost more... therefore the claimed prices for these sets cant be true? so what kinda licensed excavator will we get for only 50 euro? something similar to the one in 42023, both in size and functionality (lever operated) So maybe we will get a more expensive first digit nr set than the following set - like the volvo is smaller but the claas is the cheapier 50 euro set, that would leave room for the volvo to use some pneumatics to justify its potential.

Merry xmas to @ll! -
Try seeing it as a vehicle with articulated steering, with the universal joint in the middle arent exacly in the middle, but a little bit off-set. That puts alot of stress into it, and eventually it may crack. (not that i believe one of the u-joints on the mine loader will crack, but it was the comparison i could come up with to make it easy to understand)

Same here, and given how they like to take simple short cuts in functionality when theres actually alot of potential (like the mine loader) im afraid they will do the same with a 2H set, probably for one of the licensed sets. For a 50 dollar/euro (rumored) volvo excavator set we get lucky if they will include any pneumatics at all... most logical design would be short cuts in form of lever controls like the excavator of the 42023. And if the BWE is the smallest 2H set it will indeed be strange, either way i think we can expect to be disappointed. But with one cancelled set so far theres a pretty big chance/risk that we will have a cancelled 2H set as well, but i guess we wont find out until august.

Indeed very good review! and also good points pointed out by m_longer ;) this set doesnt appealing to me neither, but before i knew what it was i was thinking it was interesting but now... its so simple, a set close to 500 pieces with only 1 real function, and the entire rear section looks unfinished.

Excellent reviews as usually! the hamster is, as usually too, adding a new dimension to the reviews Most sets looks good, but the knob on the mine loader is placed in a horrible place, and too bad the dragster couldnt wheelie from motor power (whats the point to even make it PF?) of these sets i will maybe get a couple of the smaller ones, the boat for sure and maybe the plane.

Probably around 800 pieces. Wondering whats wrong with it... maybe they havent figured out how to route the axle from the white crane down through the turntable. (the preliminary picture looked a bit suspicious) BTW that new dragster picture above looks awesome History tells us its mid size (like every first set of the 2H) but on the other hand this will not be a normal year.. fingers cross. I just cant see how they could justify such a licensed set for only 50 euro (rumored price) and that goes for the Xerion too.

I highly doubt they gonna throw in around 20 buckets (which is what it will require) in one model. It would make more sense if the BWE is in a small scale and just has a gear as the bucket wheel, with the teeths representating the buckets - and there we have the 50 dollar set... but i hope your right for the rumored price of 220 it should be even bigger than the blue crawler crane.

Indeed! but to be honest the dragster looks to be a pretty good sized midsize set (600-700 pieces) but nonetheless i love the V8 too. And who knows... maybe it can do wheelies from motor power after all, perhaps they did just throw in the manually alternative for those who dont have power functions ;) time will tell!
