  1. Nice spotted. Never thinked of that...so if no need to use gears for the rear tire(s), then they could have add another pair of tires. Also after a closer look theres alot of changes that has been made all over the truck.
  2. It should be 1st of june in Samoa about right now...! that must count.
  3. A big proper forklift as flagship, grader as a mid size set, and perhaps a nice little excavator for a mini set, or a wheel dozer. Rope shovel is a nice idea but i rather seen a mid size pneumatic mining excavator to match the mining truck we already has, but with the upcoming Volvo EW160 in mind it wont happend anytime soon.
  4. Are you familiar with the Tamiya Clod Buster steering? a servo in the chassi center and then linked to axles with rods. This could work if your suspension travel doesnt have too much of a play, if it has maybe the best solution is to have 1 servo mounted / per axle, but then you need redesign them again :/
  5. So whats ultimate with the porsche? just a road car with steering (very very good lookin, must say) but with a fancy box and instruction. What about to really take the step to "ultimate" with a new light and sound system. Like working lights, indicators, and horn. Adjustable seats and steering wheel, working pedals - working clutch pedal, realistic motor sound for gas pedal and the brake pedal is linked to working calipers, and also with brake lights. And a advanced gear box where reverse light automaticaly being lit when you put in reverse... now we talking ultimate
  6. Sometimes the solution cannot be nailed as perfect as the RC manufacters (they can just make the pieces they want) but here we need stick to whats available in lego. But its a really smart move to use worm gears for telescopic axles ;)
  7. Point. Perhaps the front wishbones are hooked up in a way that only one side at time can move
  8. Impossible to take it wrong =) im not a huge fan of PF and RC but seriously, for a price tag of 300 the VERY LEAST we could demanding was a new fancy RC system but i guess its april 1st everyday for Lego since they're selling a set worth closer to 30, for 300.
  9. Yes obviously they didnt think this through, the ultimate EW160 version would had been the 2-stage boom setup with a regular bucket - that had required an extra switch, and also we would had enough cylinders for a pneumatic controlled grip on the alternate wheel loader.
  10. Oh yes but they are, they are so close in size that they are only a couple of mm off if you doing the calculation comparing to the scale. The tires grave digger uses (and almost every other truck too) is a slightly cutted down version of the classic 66 x 43 size tundra tires, originally used in harvester and farmer equipment, as well in 4wd 2 axle skidders. Lunchbox tires are almost exacly 110 x 71 mm, now take that x 15 times and we have 165 x 106.5 cm. The 66x43 tires the monstertrucks using are originally 167 to 172 cm in diameter and 105 to 109 wide depending on the manufacter, and after the tread pattern are being cutted down a bit to make them lighter, they pretty much ends up as exacly in scale to the lunchbox tires. Well down
  11. My favorite IRL monster truck. Looks very promising so far, but its impossible to foreseen problems since they shows up where you dont expect it, im working on a project in green myself right now and most of the beams are actually available in green, both the 9l and 7l are, and so are the L shaped beams. it may just be some of the links you need use in other colors. Smart move to go with good ole lunchbox tires, you nailed the 1/15 scale there pretty much right on. The shocks are probably gonna bend a bit no matter in which direction they're mounted, a good way to prevent it could be to link everything in the suspension to ball joints with using i.e a cantilever system.
  12. Just a couple of questions. 1. Is the alternate model usually already choosed before starting design a new set, or is it more common that you get ideas when starting the build process? 2. Is one specific designer choosed to make the flagship, or do you make the final choose out from several builds from several designers?
  13. Yeah sry, perhaps it could be! but the few times i managed to get some new pieces... they're all red (dunno why) and can be changed to black, only. And when using some of the new pieces into a build, everything start gettin really slow and laggy.
  14. Yes the new clutch/switch that are 5 long assembled instead of 4. BTW i cant access this mode, theres no where to be find. And wouldnt it be easier if they included the new pieces together with other "normal" parts? But however still no pneumatics? then its still not worth the effort
  15. I did spend a long time updating (dirt slow despite my 10mbit) and not one single new technic piece, i had expect for a very atleast all new axle and pins, all PF, the large actuators, the new 5l clutch with all its needed parts, triangle 5x11 panels, all pneumatics... but nothing, what a total joke program!! For all of you with slower connection: dont update this shit, its not worth it.
  16. Oh yes, and i have for a long time! what a beauty beast this is. And it doesnt need be monster sized either, just big enough. Even if the tracks are only 6 studs wide, the big boy itself will be approx 14 wide and 20 high - and very very long if the tender are included. Alot of space for pneumatics. They could also include alot of track pieces in the box, for us to lay out our own track on the floor;) I hope that size would be enough, because if only increasing the size with let say a 1/3 it probably going to have 10,000+ pieces and way too expensive.
  17. I highly doubt thats the reason since theres other sets in the same size that has only a couple of functions as well i.e arctic truck. The reason it was cancelled was probably because of some design fault, they simple discovered a problem they need time to work around. But yes maybe it will be released next year
  18. TY alot now im even more confused sure the snowblower have a diff, engine, many gears, and some chainlinks but still, i would had never guess it contained 860 pieces. very nice models btw! Sry, no i cant. But can you walk me through the 1166 plz. Arm and grabler has about just over 100 pcs, the cab is dense and with its function it will have about 150 maybe even 200.Outriggers and plow about 100 together (just manually, not geared) and the chassi doesnt support any functions besides the steering... doubt it contains more than 100. The hood is left, and it needs to be open inside because of pneumatic switches and hosing, lets say 100 pieces even if it looks alot less. About 600 + some more hidden parts and pins, lets add extra 100. Thats 700
  19. I can tell you havent done much of own larger moc's if you believe this excavator containis any where near 1166 pieces
  20. So they including approx 400-500 extra pieces just for playing with? how nice!
  21. Yeah, i was thinking about that too. Only the motor can fit in the space next to the switches so the batterybox will most likely fit in the base between the wheels, it seems to have a wheelbase of approx 19 holes and it should be enough room under the steering axle, will be very close to the floor tho... Right now the biggest mystery is why and how the box says 1166 pieces
  22. Probably, was too good to be true. But that IS a useful piece they should make
  23. Is it just me or can we spot a 4L liftarm with round holes at the ends? (on the grabler, just right at the mini cylinder)
  24. Not even close Its almost 50 studs tall and probably also almost 40 studs wide , and WAY heavier than 3200 grams
