Building is always fun but 4000 pieces is just too much. And i didnt compare the volvo excavator with a much older excavator (oh yea, i had the 8851) but with somewhat newer one since i wont consider 8043 as "too old". but it doesnt matter anyway since that comparison was an absolutely overkill, even 8294 & 42006 seems to be way bigger than the volvo,

Thats a really good comparison! omg why did i use the 8043 for?! thats a overkill. By comparing the volvo excavator to the 42006 (or 8294 for that matter) which contains alot of more gears and axles because of a gear box and actuators, confirms that the volvo contains no way NEAR 1166 pcs. After this comparison i would be surprised if it even would have more than 600 pcs... Volvo superstructure size without cab approx 20x15 studs. 42006 without cab approx 22x17 Then compare the arm/boom... the volvo is really tiny in a comparison. Then add what the volvo lacks, and whats been pointed out earlier - the tracks.

For the rumored price of 300 it has to be RC, anything else would be a rip-off. -
Agreed on that!, that last year was better balanced. I wont probably get any 2H set, sure the BWE is absolutely stunning but approx 3550 pieces... it must be a pain to build, unless i find an already built second hand BWE The volvo excavator on the other seems to be a total disapointment (so far), overpriced but with 1166 pieces and still only 3 pneumatic functions, plus 2 simple shortcuts (blade and outriggers). Its amazing that they could use 10 cylinders many years ago on the 8455 and still cheapier(?). And no i didnt expect them to use 10 cylinders on the EW160 but atleast to design the boom/arm like IRL with the extra movable section, plus a rotating normal bucket instead. A total of 5 cylinders would do the job In the 1H wave the helicopter looks amazing, and so does some of the smaller sets, i.e hydroplane boat and the go-kart.

For me (being RC fan and have alot of cars, and some boats) "regular radio" is like AM27 mhz but i guess thats pretty much old school now. Theres no need for lego to develope new fancy digital RC systems, unless they start using hotter motors but that requires stronger chassi build, better suspension, stronger drivetrain with nylon gears, and perhaps metal axles... so where do we draw the line between whats lego and whats not? -
WOW! what an absolutely stunning beast, and a beauty, ofc! i guess it would even dwarf the BWE

When taken everything into consideration (parts, price, potential it COULD have) im amazed how this set passed through the quality control tests. Seriously, the outcome is ridiculous; almost 1200 pieces (more than 8043) and 120 euros, but yet only 3 pneumatic cylinders with one of them being just a mini, and then simple lever controlled outriggers and front blade?! -

Its impossible to judge from a pic like this, but has it ever happend before that the second last set has been larger (in pieces) than the flagship itself? I guess its a first time for everything... but if this car has enough size to hold 3500 pieces they could very well had push it to 4000 just to make it the biggest. Either it will be 4000+, or "only" 2500-3000 which would be my 2 cents! -

The white clutch gear offers barely any resistance at all i wish they would make one with a resistance with more like a actuator, no matter where i put those gears in into a drive line for i.e a crane, it start to slip too easy. I guess its very critical exacly WHERE to put those gears in, im surprised seeing the BWE get away by using only a couple of these. -
42053 - very good price for a licensed set, but doesnt look as good as i expected, but functions seems ok based from video. It could grow from more pics/angles. B model looks even better, from the one pic, so far... 42054 - good looking tractor at a impressive size, but i rather seen the tractor itself being motorized instead of a half-done tractor and a half-done crane... 42055 - what appeared as the most ugly set is the one that grow most out from other angles, Very impressive, best of them all. However the b-model looks more like the java vehicle from star wars tattoine. 42056 - nicely shaped car but overpriced, and made in wrong color.

The rubber bands could have something to do with the adjustable entire steering section when changing the steering wheel back and forth, and up and down. I think it is, how else would they justify a price tag of around 300€? the reason for the required twin shocks could be a new big motor, a new heavy duty drive line with metal axles, bearings, etc. -

Volvo excavator appears a bit ugly but i like it, and maybe it will grow from more pics and angles like the BWE did. Functions are still good, too bad they used shortcuts for the outriggers and the front blade but still, smartly done. -

I noticed that, but at very first impression it looked alot like an antenna -

No HOG steering, and a antenna(or is it something else?) (at car's right side near door) confirms it will have a new RC system - imo. -

Maybe it wont... by judging from the size of BWE - thats the 300€ set. But atleast this porsche set a new record in nr of stickers (maybe also in panels)
