Im afraid you're right, it indeed seems to not have any steering. From this angle we can see more details http://www.ibrickcity.com/wp-content/gallery/technic-2015/lego-42038-technic-1.jpg

Probably because it maybe has something to do with the alternate model - it could be a 1 cylinder chain driven go-kart ;) (im just speculating here) but whatever the reason might be i agree with the other poster, it does looks cool.

Hi! i fully agree, everything shouldnt be motorized im not a huge fan of motors myself, but i dont see the point of making a set this big and it has only this few simple functions. (it should be the right model for right size imo ;) But i will give it a chance, after all it is a bit unique to say atleast...!

The crane on the arctic vehicle looked way better on the preliminary version, it had 2 actuators while the released version only has 1 and looks so lame and tiny... and why doesnt Lego never learns? whats the point having huge ~1000 pieces sets when it only has a couple of functions and not even motorized, didnt they learn nothing from 8274 and 8284?

Yes, some kinda impressive forklift is also a good idea, maybe even with a log stacker. Its either that or a mining excavator (but now we already have 2 tracked models in the 1H) http://www.tekatrade.com/images/com_sobi2/clients/93_img.jpg Yes the mining truck looks awesome! anyone noticed that the cylinder seems to be driven by a chainlink? perhaps we will have a 1 cylinder chainlink driven go-kart as the alternate model here, or if they're more clever; take advantage of the actuator together with the chainlinks and we can have a fork lift (but maybe a little too short lifting distance..)
-
All models with exception for the lemans car looks very good! have to agree here, that the preliminary version did look better! the arctic vehicle on the other hand... well, it looks more like my profile picture

At 5:03 ... twin rear tires on the dumptruck? the 42035 box however shows single tires.
-
You got that right! the closer white upper beam is connected to the bucket while the other one is indeed connected to the forks, as we can clearly see its way higher up than the other one. So we get two functions here.

Good job finding these pics! 42031 looks horrible, 32 looks very good, 33 and 34 looks... well ok, pullbacks (not my thing) 35 looks strange, especially the bed is way off since it is tilted inwards, it shouldnt, it should be flat and horizontally at the top. 36 looks very nice, 37 looks good too, 38 looks like an alien spaceship, 39 looks best of them all But bear in mind that these are preliminary images... just an example, look how much the 42023 got changed: http://s8.postimg.org/eauzo10th/42023.jpg

Where you getting that informaton from? i think the arctic vehicle will be motorized since it will be most likely around 1000 pieces judging from box size (this isnt a perfect formula iknow, but still)

[WIP] Dump Truck
GoldVillage replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh please no! theres nothing more ugly than the swedish trucks... some piece of plastic craps! i prefer the US ones, like peterbilt ;) -
Me too! having a new big forklift as the flagship would be a nice excuse for some new very long pneumatic cylinders ;) but i guess that ship has sailed...(!) I did some measurements, the 42004 box (mini backhoe) has the same dimensions length and width - 26 x 19 cm, as the coming 42035 dump truck, but for the thickness the 42004 box is only 60 mm while the 42035 is 77 mm according to that list.

car... cars? SO, if we translate the first set... "42032 - Compact Track Loaders" loaderS? a typo - or is it actually 2 loaders? Wow! ty alot for this info ;) so it seems like 31 is a MINI set, 32-37 pretty much small to medium, and 38-39 seems to be very big sets... could these two be 2H sets? it seems unlikely that they will release 9(!) sets the first half of 2015. 42039 might be the flagship, judging from box size...
-
Interesting... which ones will be small or large and which one will be the flagship? (if its even included here...) i dont think its included here, we have to wait to 2H. So whats your bet folks? 42031 - Platform = mid size set 42032 - Compact Track Loader = mini/small 42033 - Action Rocket Car = mini/small 42034 - Action Quad = mini/small 42035 - Dump Truck = large 42036 - Street Motorcycle = mid size 42037 - Formula Off-Roader = large 42038 - Arctic Tracked Vehicle = large 42039 - Long Distance Race Car = mid size

We're already in mid august guys ;) i wondering if they gonna continue to create a licensed model every year or if the L350 just was "once in a lifetime" model. If we look at the construction side, It was a long time ago since we had a regular tractor but they're all so similar and has so simple functions, it was also long time ago since we had a fork lift and this could really be a nice opportunity for them to make some new very long pneumatic cylinders (bring back the pneumatics!) but i rather see something like a mining excavator i.e Terex RH400 as the flagship, but i wouldnt mind a forest machine either i.e a licensed John Deere. For a small sized model i welcome a excavator and/or a wheel loader, since theres so many of them in big versions. So, for flagship: mining excavator or a forest machine. For mid size model: a fork lift. For a small model: a excavator or wheel loader

Agreed. Hence the reason why i didnt throw my mini excavator into the contest... how can you even compete against something like that? ;) the design are so unique
-
Nice! i also got the dozer, just a couple of days ago ;) it took me nearly 2 hours 30 min to build got to say im a bit rusty i havent build a set this big since a blue pneumatic tow truck i got many years ago, but i like the dozer alot its sturdy and has a good weight to it, it looks very good but the functions are so limited. It wouldnt been too difficult to change the front blade structure so the blade would be able to tilt, same with the rear ripper.

late answer but what the heck, i must comment! simply amazing made locomotive, and i really like the big boy ;)
