  1. Teaser... In his ever continuing search for for fresh blood in the form of children and young adults Lord Vampyre ordered one of his zombie henchmen to get into the old carport-garage and rebuild the old hearse into a hotrod icecream-truck. ^ Before spraypainting the old hearse into a virgin white color, mr Zombie made shure he masked off all the other parts that had to stay clean... To be continued... Moohahahahaw....
  2. Very nice!
  3. Thanks! I used the staircase method that can be found in some standard Lego modulars like Petshop. I like that it doesn't take up a lot of room.
  4. Any suggestions? I like the brickshow reviews a lot. But I often do not agree with them. It often is a matter of opinion. Like for instance, they find minifigs and printed bricks overly important and, well... I don't. I wish they show more of the seperate bricks, just before the build. Maybe some new bricks or techniques they,ve stumbled upon. Ithink they are too much pro LEGO, where they should've shown more critism. But as far as a 'toy'review can go, they do an enthousiastically good job.
  5. I agree that petshop is a good one to start with. You get not on, but two buildings! ;-) it has great parts, some nice details and a few clever buildingtechnigues. Heck, buy two of em, so you can get really creative and build a decent moc out of it.
  6. That looks neat! To find a set you really like and go buy two of em. I think thats the way to go to build it the way you like it best. Did you add any other bricks than from just the two beachhousesets?
  7. Nice! Love the underground cutaways.
  8. Wow! ...just wow... Love the monochromatic front of the whole building. It makes the shopfacade pop out without being 'flashy'. It gives this building a very realistic touch to it. Love all the details. Everything is just right. The stripes on the interiorwalls are simple yet very effective. Love the simple lounchetable...

Beautifull model! I have GREAT respect for builders that can build such a detailed moc like this in town-scale.
  10. On a more serious note: There will always be a grey area. Different for each and everyone of us. I've modded my Haunted House in such a way that for me it's a MOC, but for everyone else it will always be a MOD because, well... with all those original design details and colors it still looks very much like the original set. Same goes for my hearse, eventhough it's my own 7stud-wide interpretation (MOI) with a build-up using my own structural ideas to make it look as the original set with just a few alterations. I think when looking at someone elses creations people will call it a MOD unless at least 95% is scratchbuilt. And you know... It really doesn't matter. I don't care that much for LegoLingo. If a threadtitle states MOC or MOD I will check them out.
  11. I guess we should call that a SOC..? Somebody's Own Creation... :-p
  12. Where are you situated? Maybe The Netherlands has something better to offer: go search for the stores like Brickfever and Atembo. One has good prices, the other is offering just as much as an official Lego store. Both have several shops. So I've heard... Never been there yet, but I have high hopes.
  13. Less is more. And your moc is proof of that. The overall view is very easy to the eyes. Almost minimalistic. Until you start noticing all the subtle butimportand details. I hate dogs, but I love this doggie in the window. But my favorite has to be the shopsign. That lettering is really good. I mean... REALLY GOOD.
  14. Nice! Good to see someone not using bright blue for water.
  15. Sweet. Beautiful design. Love the lighting.
  16. Pretty!
  17. ...We have a Lego-convention in The Netherlands???
  18. Nice build. Lots of new and original ideas/techniques. Well... New to me anyway.
  19. Exactly. As for the 1x2 with a dividing line in the middle to suggest two seperate 1x1s... You don't need such a piece because of what,s said above and, personally, I already hate all the already existing shortcut bricks like 2 stud high 1x2s, 5 stud high pilars, and not to mention all the castle wall pieces...
  20. To have those catalogues from your childhood is awesome! I wish I had mine... (and my matchboxcars catalogues, and the december toystorecatalogues...) But you know what? To see the difference in Lego pushing their minifigs towards kids today to how they've KINDA did in the early days is just compare an old to a new catalogue. I guess it'll be lots of work to scan or photograph all of the pages of an old catalogue..? Hint hint... On a sidenote... I think of starting to produce kids in the near future just to justify possible Lego-purchases... ;-)
  21. Nice one! Funny that those old trees work so well in this moc. They somehow create a vacation-feel.
  22. BEAUTIFUL! Nice scenery and great photography. The lighting in first pic looks like shade on a sunny summers day... I agree on all of what's been said above. But I like to add that I'm not a fan of the Friends-dolls, but that's Lego's fault, not yours. ;-)
  23. Wow Jorrith! You already know I like your hearse, but I think the castle is really amazing... It now looks really massive. The original is nice, to some extend, but I always thought it lacked... Something. Mass. What a great idea to incorporate the lab. I found that original set a bit disappointing visually. (Lego should've made it more compact imo) what you've done is nice, and more logical setting up the machine in one of the castletower. I like your cellar/basement idea. At one point I had something similar in mind, but decided it would be a bit odd to have a torturechamber under (just) a haunted house. It's way more logical in your castle... Now that I took another look ar your hearse notice you've used an enveloppe-brick. But not the white ones with the red heart that I've got... Where did you get those? The train is nice too... would be very cool to see it running on tracks. Now that I see all these builds I think it's a shame that Lego seems to have dropped the Monsterfighters theme... Oh, and indeed, your builds deserve better photography... ;)
  24. Are you talking about the design, or are you capable to produce just one sheet of stickers? I think it's cool either way.
