I think the 1H 2015 range are excllent, in terms of the smaller sets these are the best in a few years. The models are different, the parts selection is excellent...we are getting rare parts in fresh supply + parts in brand new colurs. These sets will be must have just for the parts and colours alone!!

I was wondering if anyone could point out those storage box setups i see some of the high end builders have?....they have dozens of storage boxes of various sizes, where would one buy those? I have over 10,000 spare parts and just use ziplock bags, i bought a couple of hundread off Ebay and spent the last few days separating each part by number and colour....every spare drawer is stuffed full....lol!

I personally have never seen them, and i have never seen 41999 been sold second hand, i swear all 20,000 were bought be speaculators to resell at twice the price!!

Those parts from 42009 are not rare, even the once ultra rare 32L axels are in plentiful supply.....and i just recently bought a BNIB 8295 off Ebay, the Linear Actuator holder was a spare part not used in the A build.....looks like a Bionicle part to me imo, still very rare though! I use Bricklink and look at old sets, Bionicle is a treasure trove of rare parts in rare colours!...i am amazed at the range of colours Technic parts are available in, most never turn up in actual released Technic sets!

Yeah...probably staff from inside TLG got a few prototypes out or something, i personally think the 4x4 L shape liftarm could have many uses!....surprised this has never been officially released?

Speaking of rare parts....what rare pieces do you have in your collection ?

I don I dont think that is it....it does look like a 1L connector, a 1L version of 62462...or moreso the older version of this 2L connector 75535:http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=75535 ....it looks like a tan 3749 pin is inside it. A 1L beam would certainly have its uses...especially filling gaps.

42035 Panels
Richard Dower replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ah!...forgot about that 5 and 3 beams, but i guess if you wanted 8x11 you could just use a 5x11 and 3x11 panels....i forgot about the new 3x11 panels....but i guess they dont exist in yellow yet? -
42035 Panels
Richard Dower replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
yes...8x11...big retangular panel, but with no pin holes i am not sure how you would secure it, unless as someone said use beams on either side...but there are no 8 stud beams. but you could put a 11 stud beam on the top which would make it 9x11. -
The B model is most likely a chopper...like most bike sets it seems.

Who puts stickers on Technic sets?....you cant resuse the parts if you sticker them!, it reduces resale valeof the set.

42035 Panels

I am wondering if you could place one panel on top of the other to make a larger panel....do you thimk it would work? -
It could be possible to MOC and created a fairly accurate copy of this, you could use LBG panels from 7160 and the headlights you could use trans black 30602.

looks like a 7L on top near the handlebars....not too many sets have those.

I am starting to think they will also rerelease 8081 for the 2H sets, that was also limited edition.
-
No idea...seems stupid, what is worse is that i have been parting out and collecting pieces to build the A and B model.....grrrr! My guess is the original 8041 was limited edition, it is kinda hard to find that set new or second hand on ebay...for a good price. The wheel hubs of 42041 have changed, they are the newer six hole version whereas 8041 has 3 holes, i wonder if the tyres are the sam as the original?

Disabled Technic Builders
Richard Dower replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think Lego DOES help with depression most certainly...it focuses the mind, takes your mind off other "stuff" and uses the creative part of the brain moreso the emotional part. I also think it could help with physical issues, with the hands...though i am no doctor, i just assume using the muscles in your hands is a good thing....though lol, my hands are usually in bits are a few hours of building. Thanks for telling your story Paul, i am sure there are others out there who have suffered from depression at some point in their lives, i think everyones does tbh. -
Sorry to bump an old thread, but i found this rwview very helpful in my preparation to rebuild 8285....i now have less then 10 pieces to get to do a total rebuild using all NEW parts!, i liked the comment on how well built the set is....when i originally bought 8285 second hand it literally took me 5 hours to take it apart!, my fingers were red raw! its deffo a good idea to build the B model first and then build A...it will also extend the fun and build experience :-) I really cant wait to finally put this monster together!!!!!!! :-)) I want to do this myself, what parts did you use please? I bought my original used set for €120....but it was obvious that it had been sold and resold several times, it was in TERRIBLE condition. The manuals and box had to be thrown out, they were beyond saving. Once i took the set apart i did as you did, washed it....but pretty much everything was scratched to death and worn out. So i hit upon the idea of rebuilding 8285 using all new parts, the only stuff i kept was the metallic silver elements....but even those parts i have now replaced with brand new ones. It cost hundreads, way more then buying one of those overly expensive sets resellers on Ebay advertise....but it'll be worth it once i see the fruits of my labour/money :-) I ended up buying 6 brand new metallic silver wheel rims for €40....and the 6 used ones i decided to use 4 of them on the two back wheels axels, the inside wheels that are hidden....so i have 1 metallic silver wheels :-) I would assume TLG had a limited production run on the silver metallic parts and once they ran out switched to LBG, one would assume the metallic silver parts are more expensive to manufacture. Hopefully the reuse these elements in modern sets as these parts command a high price tag and are much sought after by Technic fans.
