[MOC] Lime Lightning
Richard Dower replied to Nalyd997's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This reminds me of 8141. -
I am planning to build 8041, but spotted something unusual: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=8041-1 The part list says it uses 4 of part # 73335 in red: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=75535 This is an old part and wasnt used in a few years, the pin connector was replaced with the modern #62462. Does anyone have the set and could they please check part 75535 is in fact used in this set?

Its a new sloped panel....i guess it will allow for more decorative and finishing touches to take place. Not sure how practical it is myself.
-
Indeed....2015 is certainly risk taking, different = weird?....some bizarre color choices and panels are the new black...so to speak. Panels and colors just thrown everywhere....but i like what i see, parts fiesta!

Looking over 42038..not sure, but i **hope** the link threads are black in color, we haven't had many sets with black threads since 2009 and they have become rare and expensive pieces, if they are black then another great way to rebuild 8263: http://www.bricklink...colorID=11&in=A I tink i also see a 7L black soft axle on the side near the cabin area, if this is true then its the first time we've had a 7L in black! http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=32580 42037 has a in line V4 engine, and new medium blue 3x11 panels. i guess this model is this years 42022 or moreso 8048. The bucket on 42032 looks to be the same as on 42004, i would imagine this will be around the 200 piece mark and €19.99. 42034 has black panels we've already have in a recent set from 2014, but this is the first Technic set a 2nd in total: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=61070&colorID=11&in=A The applied stickers are vomit inducing!....ugh!, 42033 has a Bionicle part in white, also seen in a 2014 set: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=61800&colorID=1&in=A There seems to be a smal dark blue panel underneath as well, it could be a new dark blue #11946, though it could be the light and image quality and these pane;s are not dark blue like those seen on 41999.

42037 appears to have the same parts/suspension system used in 42029....but i do see the Technic Link with stoppers 1x6 part # 2739b in Dark Bluish Grey...here again quite rare and really great to have a fresh supply of: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=2739b&colorID=85&in=A I thought the yellow was the engine piston?...i thought it had a 1V engine like the one mounted on 9392: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=9392-1
-
Upon revision i think the flexible soft axles in 42036 might be 11L or 12L....if so then these would also be quite rare and great to have a fresh supply of! http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32200&colorID=5&in=A http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32199&colorID=5&in=A

How much did it cost to chrome all the various parts? -
42039 deffo seems to have brand new curved mudguards as a new panel type. It also looks like a white 3x11 panel is used on the back, a 5x11 LBG panel on the nose along with two panels on ever seen in the 7160 Drop ship. Lots of panels in new colors we never had before, blue and green, 42037 has panels previously seen on 9393 and some other sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=61070&colorID=34&in=A I think 32046 uses a red 7L soft axle only seen in 3 sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32580&colorID=5&in=A The dark blue curved panel was only ever used once before on 41999: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=11954&colorID=63&in=A So we get two of them with set 32033, 32038 has lots of prange panels, and those hard to find curved panels in orange are back in this set. I wonder if these curved panels as mudguards were directly inspired by what Efferman made?...he created some curved mudguards for someone to use in a 8110 MOC.

The LBG panels were only ever used in one set, 7160 Drop Ship: http://www.bricklink...nv.asp?S=7160-1 It also has two panel tyoes in LBG....very rare and uique panels only found in this set.

I have become quite obsessed in trying to find and buy sets that have the old Lego panels: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=154 I have several sets with the old mould design panels, i also recently got a Racers 8146 which has lots of these older panels. I belive the last Technic set to use these panels was 8297 and also the only set to have them in Dark Bluish Grey:http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=8297-1 The panels lasted a bit longer on the Racers line with the last set being produced in 2009, set 8167: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=8167-1 While i agree there are less building techniques available on these old panels due to the design i think aesthetically they look alot better then the new panels. What do you think?

I dont think the pics of the second model do it justice, its not lit properly and a weird angle....these chrome parts are ultra shinny. -

So much love and attention to detail, alas the average person could never afford to build these because the parts would have to be custom chromed which costs a fortune. It disent detract from the dedication taken to put this together. -
I recently bought Technic 9391 BNIB from a German Ebay seller, but i noticed that the mould design/parts are different then what is listed on Bricklink: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=9391-1 Specifically part #2905....the set i got has the newer mould design part #99773: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=99773 Also part # 3647 is not in the set and replaced with the newe mould design part #10928: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=10928 The reason i point this out is i thought Bricklink was 100% accurate when it comes to what sets have what mould designs?, this is very important if you want to build old sets and have part list/mould designs 100% accurate.

LOL at the cat!!! BRILLIANT!....i see you used alot of parts from 8262....could we see a Black version?....you used white panels at the end of the vid, Do you have a Black version of the spoiler used in 8262? http://www.bricklink...colorID=11&in=A And swap out the white panels for Black, i think black and red color scheme would work better http://www.bricklink...colorID=11&in=A The part count is very reasonable and nothing too hard to find, maybe some pieces from 8262....but you can also find the same parts on 8048 and 9392, are the red flexible hose from 8068?...is it 11L?...its 14L, harder to find: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32201&colorID=5&in=A http://www.bricklink...nv.asp?S=8048-1 http://www.bricklink...nv.asp?S=9392-1 http://www.bricklink...nv.asp?S=8262-1 http://www.bricklink...nv.asp?S=8068-1 -
With TLG using those new flat silver panels i am wondering if we'll see a 2015 Technic set using these panels?....maybe a car of some kind.

This part? http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=6574 This French Ebay shop has an old grey part for sale and Briklink has various lots for sale: http://www.ebay.ie/i...=item1e8c39c195 I got 2 black ones off that Ebay store so i could build 8081 and the B model for 8048, I recently bought a BNIB set of 8048 off a German Ebay shop for ,,,,,,,,,€70...not exactly cheap but i love the set. -
Bit of an update here, it has taken me MONTHS and hundreads of Euro...but i am now VERY close to complete my project of buying only new parts to rebuild 8285. In all honesty...it would have been cheaper to buy a new set off Ebay or Bricklink. I did things the stupid way by buying off Ebay and using multiple shops and vendors and paying shipping and getting more parts/lots then the part list called for. I would be afraid/embarrased to add up how much i spent, but with all the extra parts i decided to also build 8258 and 8081....so i'll have 3 Technic sets to build from the parts i have. Took ages to tracks everything down, but i am nearly there :-) I'll upload pics of the parts and the build process once i start to build it.

Also love the backend and the tailpipe + use of differential..
