  1. i would swap out as many of the parts as possible for brand new ones...taking note of any mold updates that might have taken place.
  2. how many studs long is a soft axle of 13 cm?....is it 19L?
  3. the most expensive parts are the power functions...after that its the #5 and #6 panels in yellow. i built the A and B model buy buying all the parts over time, nothing is rare per se...just needs a bit of effort to source and gather all the parts together. depending on how you do things it might end up costing you 200 Euro. the prices are MENTAL!.....i made a thread topic about them panel prices. i got mine brand new off an ebay seller in the US. i got the panels for 2 Euro each!!! :-) .....the seller had no clue as to the value or rarity, he had parted out a few sets of 8043 and 8053 to sell off the parts. mine came in around 250 Euro once i bought in all the parts, from different ebay sellers, over time, and the separate postage costs for each seller etc. so if using bricklink it might be done cheaper. that why i suggest buying direct from the lego shop...they have all the power functions parts and over 55 Euro you get free shipping. 4 medium motors, battery box, 2 IR receivers and 2 remotes.
  4. looks superbly well finished, no gaps and it looks very full and complete....nice clean lines, the cabin are looks great!
  5. Upon seeing the images of the 1H 2016 sets it is clear there is an ongoing trend, for several years now, that we are seeing more and more use of panels. Its shocking to see the cargo helicopter uses over 30 panels! While paneling can look good and give shape and design features, one wonders if this heavy use of panels is a cost reduction exercise, moreover if it is lazy designing? Forget functions and building complexity....just throw on a buch of panels, sure it'll look cool.......... ....what do you think?
  6. The stunt plane looks awesome!....probably only 160 parts, but it looks pretty big with the use of panels, i see 6 small white panels, only seen thus far on 42043, and 2 large white panels. excellent use of stickers....really cool looking set!
  7. Yes!...such an awesome set and clearly the new one is inspired by it! Well...we keep getting more parts in light Blue, we now have some panels and beams. So if they keep releasing sets in that colour we will eventually have enough parts to make complete MOCs. I agree...there does seem to be a trend the last few years that more and more panels are beubg used. And we keep getting newly designed panels....we have had 3 in recent years. I think the fire truck used 7L flexible hoses in Red....not seen for several years now. It is much closer to 8454 in design....its an Airport fire truck as opposed to a conventional one. Jaysus!.....that cargo copter has over 30 panels!!!!!! I wonder if the airport fire truck has a V6 engine in the back?....and the back section can be raised to view the engine?....like 8454. I also think the LBG panel lift upwards so you can use HOG to raise and turn the water cannon. It might use a small turntable to rotate the water cannon 360 by one knob gear, and another knob gear raises and lowers the boom section. Then probably some manual feature on the actual water cannon, like move it up or down and side to side slightly.
  8. Too small?....not a good set?....it does seem that the entry level sets never get any love or attention. I personally thought 42020 was a great little set and had some excellent parts. These tiny sets are usually very good parts packs, anyways i bought one this morning while i was buying 42040, it was reduced to 7.99 Euro so i said....sure why not (in me best Oirish accent).
  9. WOO HOO!....i just treated myself to a lazy Monday bank holiday treat!....just picked up this beauty, now i must decide if i wish to build the A or B....... (first world problems)
  10. just spotted this on YT, like a suped up 8285.....pretty awesome all round, great looks, functions and design.
  11. yeah, the power puller set is on my want list....but they dont come up for sale very often...........
  12. Thanks guys!....i know i need pics or it didnt happen, i am arranging that. As for bragging....well, yeah.....i mean, i put a TON of not just money but work into getting all these sets. If you look most of them are long since sold out, some are hard to find or very expensive. I don't buy old sets boxed new as they are too expensive, what i did was over a long time i bought all of the parts brand new (where possible) and even bought the original manuals and then built the sets. As such for me it was like build a BNIB set, i don't like or collect second hand unless it's either a great bargain or the set has parts i need. So yeah....i think i am allowed to brag a little bit :-) Compared to toher guys though i dont have squat!....all those premiere sets, those Technic and Racers Formula cars are still missing..... I only get the B models if i like them, for example the AWESOME B model for 8048...briliantly designed tractor! If i get bored or decide to quit Lego, i will try sell them to another Technic collector locally, i live in Ireland. Storage space is my biggest problem right now, it's hampering me getting the more recent big sets as i have no space for them! I need to try sort something out there, it#s been a very costly hobby but i have enjoyed the Lego experience. :-) I look at past release and see what interests me, my ultimate aim is to collect every set released since 2000 onwards. I dont like any of the older Technic sets before 1999, i know guy only collect the large sets...but i personally like a good range from the small sets to the mid-smal, medium and large sets. Part count is important, i prefer building the large sets to extend the build time experience. When i go to build older sets i take into account that i have to try source any rare parts...can i get them, how much do they cost etc. At the moment i am looking into building an old Lego Racers Formula 1 car....but some of the parts are hard to find, so i will just take my time a gather the parts as i go along. that a pretty impressive list imo!!,,,you have sets i dont (jealous). for me its the build experience and sense of accomplishment at the end of the build. not just because i built a lego model but the fact i gthered and sourced all the parts, the planning etc. all my work and money paid off etc. actually i have around 30,000 spare parts....i collect parts as much as i use the parts to build all those sets on my list.
  13. http://i.imgur.com/0mKXcg1.gif Sorry but you're just showing off IMO
  14. I started with nothing, but 2 years on i think i have a pretty nice collection thus far...still buying in parts to build old Technic models so i will be adding more sets over time :-) 8041 (A and B model) 8043 (A and B model) 8045 8046 8047 8048 (A and B model) 8065 8066 8067 (A and B model) 8068 8069 8070 8071 8081 8109 8256 (A and B model) 8258 (A and B model...pickup truck section only) 8259 8260 8261 (A and B model) 8262 8265 8272 (A and B model) 8273 8275 8284 8285 8289 (A and B model) 8292 8294 8295 8296 (A and B model) 8297 8434 8435 8454 8649 (Lego Racers) 8682 (Lego Racers) 9390 9391 9392 9393 9394 9395 (A and B model) 9396 9397 9398 42000 (A and B model) 42001 42002 42004 42005 42006 (A and B model) 42007 42008 42009 42010 42011 42020 42021 42022 42024 42026 42027 42029 42032
  15. i actually bought this set last Monday as it was reduced to 14.99.....it actually not a bad little set considering the size and part count, has a decent array of functions. its a nice little set....the B model looks just as good so i might buy a second set, as you get the bucket left over and i need that bucket for another set.
  16. hoping the dragster uses the power puller tyres....but more likely those tumbler tyres.
  17. agreed...from a parts perspective 42000 is a better buy, i bought two sets...because despite what others have said, i think the B model is fantastic
  18. must say..i am mighty impressed by these small sets, WAY better then last year....and probably the best looking sets in a few years. i pretty much passed on all the small sets from 2015 as they looked meh and not worth the cost....they all looked pretty boring. but 2016 is shaping up to be a ace year for parts and Technic sets!
  19. look at part 62462...its flat silver, looks exactly the same colour as the liftarms....and flat silver makes total sense for what TLG are going for with the vehicle.
  20. the go kart does not have any red axels....its made up of two notched 2L axels in red: http://alpha.brickli...age?P=32062#T=C one of these in red: http://alpha.brickli...age?P=32039#T=C and the #5 connector and a red bush. the police car has the rare x346 part back in trans dark blue: http://www.bricklink...colorID=14&in=A it has not been seen since 2006 and is used in several rare technic sets, parts gathers like me who want to build old sets....this is a must have! part 32056 is back in lime green...not seen since 2001; http://www.bricklink...colorID=34&in=A the getaway car has several technic liftarms new in flat silver....look closely! part 32316 in flat silver part 32524 in flat silver part 32526 in flat silver it looks like 32013 connector is also in flat silver....a 1x9 liftarm also in flat silver hydrofoil has 1x7 flex hoses in black.....never released before in that colour. the mine loader has 4 of the new panel design....and the new 60 tooth turntable, the wheel hubs are LBG and not flat silver. the wheel hub 56145 is new in lime green: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=56145&idColor=11#T=C&C=11
  21. I only started collecting Technic sets/parts in the last two years, so i missed out on everything....but if i had to choose i would say those lego Racers sets of the Formula 1 cars, or the Technic sets of them.
  22. Apologies...original thread title was not intended to mislead, i got excited at spotting that already rare x44 part....and in Yellow, i was thinking it would be a MOCers Supercar dream come true. These sets look superb!....they are like the old lego Castle, but modernised, a fusion of retro and futuristic...love it! Hard to tell from the pics, but i think they also might be Flat Metal in colour. But those 3x11 panels in DBG would be superb! what is that part?....it is a round 1x1 part in rubber?.... Got a few of them, handy. Agreed....they look Flat Silver imo. Alas...it is :-( It's getting stupid now the TLG can't produce this part in Red!!
  23. Woah Batman!....i was just watching a walkthrough of the Back To The Future level and spotted Part # 44 in Yellow!! (4.15 into the video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGTBSDxdMao Is this a sign?...do you think we will see this part appear in Yellow in 2016? https://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=44#T=C
