[MOC] Chain-Making Machine
lowlead replied to ord's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is MIND BLOWING...I wouldn't even know where to start if I were tasked with making a machine like this. I'm curious - do you have an engineering background, or? Amazing creation, thanks for sharing! -
I vote for #3 twice. Long live the vision of Ralph McQuarrie!

Bravo, Brikkyy13. That needed to be said - as a reminder that fandom encompasses a wide spectrum of takes and OPINIONS. ^^That bears repeating, all day long. -

Whoa! Stepping up your game, eh LEGO? I see you. Great looking sets packed with highly desirable minifigs with no extraneous filler? Two iconic UCS sets coming soon...you really DO care!! ...sniffle...I still think LEGOcon is kinda dumb tho. -

Same here. Despite its relative obscurity, there are a lot of things I like about that set. The color scheme, the fun build, the sturdiness of the finished model, how Star Wars-ey it looks...like a close relative of the Blockade Runner. An unexpected hit for me, and I didn't mind paying full price. -
^^Same exact experience on the East coast - with Target and B&N especially. A local Target is stocking the Modular Bookshop and the big Ecto-1...and I consider my area at the 'end of the distribution lines' I'm certainly not complaining about this trend, as I'm in the camp that still enjoys the hunt.

Umm...because that was my initial reaction - that I felt for a couple reasons. Am I obligated to reply to you with a multi-paragraph tome? Tell you what, I'll humor you cuz I'm a nice guy I reacted the way I did because of the manner/aesthetic of the marketing tease, followed by a reveal that seemingly has little to nothing to do with said tease. I believe I'm not alone when I broadcast some hope for an innovative LEGO Brand system of lighting, and the look and tagline of this tease strongly suggested that's what was coming. Furthermore, I believe people are becoming weary of virtual anything. We're social animals that have been cooped up for more than a year - virtual events are sounding very tiresome to my ears. Please, please don't deep dive into the social and political talking points of the pandemic - these are just my opinions and observations. Also, I like to use hyperbole cuz it's fun. Have an awesome day!

I like the Meditation Chamber set because it's new and different - in similar fashion to the Probe Droid. Yes we've seen both before, but only as minor ancillary builds. Credit to LEGO for surprising me after 20+ years of LSW. I'll pick one up -
Last I checked today is June 1st, not April 1st. Lame

[MOC] Imperial Star Destroyer - The Eviscerator
lowlead replied to 2mpaired's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I would agree - as long as you have no specific time frame in mind to build it. Orders from LEGO Bricks & Pieces/PaB can take weeks, and I had a window of opportunity earlier this year to build the Eviscerator uninterrupted with some time off from work. So I opted for the more expensive route (much faster shipping) and used Bricklink exclusively from domestic sellers. In the meantime I have two pending orders from Bricks & Pieces and I have no idea when those will arrive.- 169 replies

WOW! I'm pretty much speechless - they're amazing to study! It's mind boggling to imagine the countless hours you spent making these. Great photography and lighting, too. Awesome work.

Awesome build! The dim, seedy shadows of lower Coruscant - another wretched hive of scum and villainy. That black caped figure with the First Order hat - is that your bounty hunter Kawn Visinda, or? I really like that android look to this figure! Great detailing on the dark grey 'shell' of the Coruscant substrate - thanks for posting this!

After cleaning up that horrible chunky area below the cockpit, this set is a bit easier on the eye. The Lambda is my favorite vehicle so I had to address the issue with a quick mod.... Image is link:

Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
lowlead replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
^^Agreed. I'm not even a Marvel collector, first post in this section - but damn that Benatar! Day One purchase. ...and 'The Dude' finally gets Minifig status. Good for Bridges - I loved his Obadiah portrayal. -
Purchased! Fantastic scaled-down version of the ISD - proportions are spot on! I'm browsing through the pdf file now, and the instructions are very nice - great job. I envision some kind of forced perspective display with my Eviscerator 2.0. This is gonna be fun!

HA! Gotta love a good mashup And what a way for a newcomer to make a splash - welcome! I've got three favs here: The Y-TIE Bomber's color scheme looks interesting, the A-TIE Advanced has a cool Sith Infiltrator/Scimitar vibe going on, and the YA-Boo looks like it could be an original design in its own right, despite being a mix of THREE ships. Love it! Thanks for sharing.

For me, this would be swapping one source of stress for another. Mild stress, granted, but still.... An ISD order from JD Spielwaren would mean shipping one giant ~$2,000+ order overseas from Germany. One hiccup or delay at U.S. Customs would probably take years off my life . A while back before COVID I ordered the Sisyphus Automaton model from MOC Hub - everything worked out in the end, but there was a long shipping delay and a lot of back and forth communication. Since then, I try to keep things stateside if possible.

What's crappy is that there's hate at all - for any LEGO content creator. I reserve my hatred for hollywood baby f**kers, mass murderers and politicians...you know, the reeeel bad guys. -
...I'm a bit redundant here, but yeah... Not having built the Monarch or seen the instructions, my guess would be a combination of the internal frame, display stand and the style of exterior detail. With the Eviscerator, 2mpaired designed an extremely robust frame set atop an elaborate (and beautiful!) display stand. The resulting pair are both very parts-dense, and the display stand alone accounts for an entire instruction 'book' in pdf format. The internal frame alone is HEAVY and very tough due to its over-engineering. While I was building the frame it became evident that any drooping, characteristic of many other Destroyers, would be virtually non-existent with the Eviscerator. Lastly, just based on casual observation, the Eviscerator piece count may be elevated due to the specific exterior detail treatment - comprised of nearly 1,000 1x1 modified plate with clip (two different styles). Also the outer edges of each wedge panel of the Eviscerator have a much more elaborate design, using hundreds of 1x1 modified brick with headlight, as opposed to plain wedge plates on the Monarch. Although very intricate-looking, the Monarch exterior appears to have a wider range of elements making up the outside detail which may not add up to the higher piece count in comparison. Having said all that, the creators themselves probably have all kinds of specific stats on these monsters. I'm glad I chose the Eviscerator 2.0!

Oh MAN what a lineup! The folding feature of the Outland TIE is fantastic, I like the dark red stripes on the 181st Interceptor as well. But the MINING GUILD TIE is my favorite of all! That one really pops - great design and color scheme!

HA! THESE ARE GREAT! My favorites are the Starfighter A and the NB01 - if they were actual sets, they would be day one purchases.
