  1. Yet another good point. If I were given the choice, I would prefer that LEGO bend their own 'rules' a little bit if it means they could bring this set to market under their remaining standards. They were already forgiven the moment I finished the walker and stared in amazement at this giant thing on my kitchen counter. I absolve you, LEGO.
  2. Excellent! It's like a Mos Eisley Modular Building set. Captures that dim, shady back alley feel.
  3. ^^ Good question. Where was all the hair on fire outrage before this? It's almost as if some people are tripping over themselves to find fault in this set because they 'can't afford it'...even though many annual LEGO budgets probably far exceed 1000 bucks, but it's spread out over time. If I were in the cash challenged category - loving this set as much as I do - I would just put the damn thing on a credit card and focus to pay it off in a few months. Worth the effort if you ask me.
  4. With this UCS AT-AT I'm happy to see a convergence between the two! I was casually shopping around for a good AT-AT MOC, then the 75313 set dropped. Full stop - that's my big walker. I'm hoping the same will happen with a TIE Bomber. With the Star Destroyer, I started with a 75252, but ended up with the Eviscerator 2.0 MOC. There's pros and cons to both MOCs and sets, but as long as LEGO continues to release large scale models that are top notch in design, I'll favor the set over the MOC.
  5. Salty in here! I'll wait and see what LEGO does about it, or at least see if they acknowledge the oversight. Either way, I encountered this step in the instructions today and I'm not bothered...at all. I'm betting that axle can be pried out with a fine, flat tool with minimum damage. This isn't the first hiccup in a large, complex set and it won't be the last.
  6. W O W ! ! Beautiful! I can say with 100% confidence that your MOC looks even better than the real building. Your detail work expertly conveys that blend of Baroque and Neoclassical architecture styles. Possibly one of the best examples in LEGO - that I've seen, at least. I really like that LEGO makes so many elements to make builds like this possible, and designers like yourself to take full advantage of that. Question: Have you been inside this building before? Judging by the facade, I'm guessing the hall itself is equally ornate. I look forward to the rest - thanks for posting this!
  7. Great looking MOC! We can never have enough big AT-ATs! The proportions and details are all spot on, from the sides of the legs, the underside drive section, the armor, etc... One aspect that you beat the 75313 on would be the hip joints on your version not protruding out beyond the armor plating. Clearly LEGO had to make the legs very strong, but in the process they sacrificed some of the aesthetic - understandably. If I had to nitpick something, it looks to me like the top of the head is a bit flat. I also really like the leg detail on your version better than the big one. One more thing I noticed while watching speed builds of the 75313 - in the bottom of each foot, it looks like LEGO is using a rubber tire that contacts the surface to prevent slippage on a smooth display area. Perhaps you can use the same technique if you can't mod the legs to your satisfaction. Either way, thanks for sharing!
  8. Agreed, and that would be a great solution. Adjustable, and also a locking action for stability provided by a worm screw/gear setup. This AT-AT is for sure a day 1 purchase...if I can act fast enough
  9. I turn the monotony into a challenge by assembling the 4 legs simultaneously - two per the instructions and the other two are mirrored. Works especially well with an AT-AT.
  10. Great looking MOC! Gotta love a nice shuttle It never dawned on me to search for any reference photos for this one - but now that I see a couple, I really like this vehicle. The shuttle itself has that look of high luxury that vehicles on Coruscant are known for. I particularly like the underside prow shape that resembles an ocean vessel hull. Paired with this complement of figures, it would have made a great PT set. Oh well.
  11. So...where did the OP of this question even ask about the UCS Falcon? Wasn't the question, Should I get the Star Destroyer or three other sets (for the same cost)?
  12. Compared to 10030, the latest Star Destroyer build is far more advanced: The outer panels are modular, there is no reliance on magnets, the proportions are vastly improved, the support structure and the design itself is WAY more effective in preventing the infamous drooping that 10030 suffers from. The unboxing is an experience in itself and - speaking of boxing - my 75252 has been temporarily disassembled, but not completely parted out. I managed to only have to break down the ship into large components and still fit all of it in the original packaging. If I felt compelled to put it back on display, re-assembly would only take an hour or so. For my part, the 75252 checked all the boxes for me. I love the set and I highly recommend snagging one - you'll regret letting this one go. $ .02
  13. ...and I certainly respect that decision. I had to ask Thanks for the reply!
  14. Hello again Mgf and welcome to the forums! I can't stop looking at these photos! I noticed the comments on your Flickr page that you have no plans to create instructions, but I was wondering if you might be willing to post more detailed photos of the cockpit section and the construction techniques you used! This is by far the new standard for the T-4a cockpit - the look and angles are fantastic! In my opinion this is an amazing achievement that is long overdue. So THANK YOU for sharing this with us, and I can only hope LEGO is taking notes!!!
  15. Best looking cockpit section out there - it achieves that subtle curvature of the upper surface. Nicely done!
  16. Oh man, this thing speaks to me! First of all - excellent photography! Really deep, crisp images - yet dark. Your lighting and background choices really make this vehicle POP! The blue/grey/white treatment colors the U-wing perfectly, then the trademark black/grey of the TIE provides an interesting contrast - I can study these photos for hours. All the different angled plate sections on the underside of the U-wing look particularly great. A completely decked-out interior - nice! I would welcome a UCS version of this ship, but I'm not holding my breath. Nice touch on the white trim of the display stand. Fug-tastic looking ship, thank you for sharing!
  17. W O W ! ! Unbelievable achievement. Modern day warplanes are very tricky to get right and this is - no contest - the best looking F-4 out there. All of the trademark attributes of the Phantom are so well represented. The large intake ramps, the wing sweep, the rake of the vertical stab, the angled wingtips, the elevator anhedral - it's all there! I can look at these photos for hours, amazing work!! Thanks for sharing this!
  18. Yep, that is correct I used the Death Star hemispheres as well - follow the 'Alt_Engines' instruction pdf which was included in the Eviscerator 2.0 package. I don't recall when 2mpaired updated the instructions, but if you don't have the alternate engine steps in your May purchase he will provide them as far as I know.
  19. Ohhhhh my. Would ya look at that. I just found my Winter project - this will look fantastic next to the Eviscerator. Not sure how they scale with each other but I really don't care! Amazing work - take my money!!
  20. ^^...lots of this going around. For my part, I'm trying my best to not be that guy.
  21. HA! I just found this - great rendition of one of the most iconic movie posters in modern film. Nice work!
  22. Fantastic review, top-notch photography! This is a mesmerizing design - the realism is incredible. Great stuff LEGO
  23. Shill much? How can a set achieve the coveted 5-star rating when the price is an issue and you're a really strict reviewer? GTFOH You plastered your Ad / review all over Brickset, too. I get it, you're self promoting, but maybe take it down a notch sunset.
  24. Great looking mods! The door-ramp function is very cool, and I particularly like the area at the top of the ladder. The pass-through lined with white cheese slopes and tiles give it that M Falcon corridor 'padded' look. The detail around the little bed looks really good, too. Nice work!
  25. A boarding ramp?? Retractable gear with functioning doors?? LEGO, please take notes for a new UCS Lambda!!! Great looking shuttle! And thank you for posting that image of the gear mechanism - very simple and very clever
