  1. Happy May the 4th everyone! Today is a special day. That's why I'm releasing my first MOC: the Torment Imperial-II Star Destroyer. Made of 3,011 pieces, 25 inches long (79 studs), weighing 2kg, it's a medium-sized, modular Imperial-II Star Destroyer holding on a single Lego stand. It features all of the recognizable elements of the real studio model: turrets, antennas, hangars, bridge, neck, engines, with close attention to every detail and proportions of the original Imperial-II ship from Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Designing took about 70 days, plus 15 days for building / testing, & another 15 days for making instructions and photos. More than 3 months of work. My goal was to build the most accurate SD as I could, in a limited scale - a moderately-sized build that could still easily fit on a desk or shelf, and be moved freely. This choice of scale made working on greeble and proportions a real challenge. Designing a single, secure stand was not an easy task either. But after all this work, I'm really happy with the result. Hope you guys enjoy it, and may the 4th be with you! ► Instructions for the Torment are available at BrickVault. More pictures on my Flickr page. Extra pictures (dark mode disabled!) :
  2. The conference room onboard the ISD Relentless Admiral Bryce: Gentlemen. We are looking at the planet Uquine. The last planet on the Commenor Run in this sector. Retaking Uquine will place the entire sector under the Commenor Remnant control. I’m sending three battalions to the surface to establish an initial occupation. I will stay in this system to oversee the occupation and await further instructions from high command. This is what must be done before we initiate Operation Stronghold. Admiral Rovv and Admiral Cerato, you will escort the Senator and Agent Visqar back to Commenor. You will need to convince High Command that we need additional ships to carry out our expansion. You know what to do after that. Admiral Cerato: We should approach Moff Barthol regarding Operation Stronghold. Admiral Rovv: Yes, he would be a powerful ally. Admiral Bryce: I agree. Admiral Rovv. Seek an audience with the moff and introduce him to Operation Stronghold, but plan a contingency should he decline to join. This has to be done in secrecy. Admiral Bryce: Gentlement, Cpt. Bannon. Captain, congratulations on your latest success. I apologize for the wait. These are extraordinary circumstances. Please meet Senator Belrus, Agent Visqar, Admiral Rovv and Admiral Cerato. We are a newly established subcommittee of the Commenor Remnant. Consider us your direct leadership. Gentlemen, please excuse us. I will brief Cpt. Bannon on his first assignment. Admiral Bryce: Captain, your first task is to establish your new squad. You are free to choose whomever you see fit to carry out the mission. I will see to it that you get access to the imperial elite personnel manifest. Lt. Markland will serve as your personal assistant. She is a trusted member of my crew. You report to me directly. Any questions? Cpt. Bannon: I need a ship. Behind the scenes: This is my first attempt at a modular scene. The idea is so make different rooms and interior of an imperial star destroyer to reuse during my stories. Let me know what you think?
  3. Hey everybody, I'm new to the community but I've been MOC designing for sometime now and I have finished my massive project. I've been working on it for just under two years, The ISD II The Eviscerator. It sits on a single removable stand measuring at 148 studs long with 19,225 pieces. I really wanted to capture that "It doesn't look like Lego" feel and try to give it a studio model vibe. One of my goals for this build was to have only one stand that the model sits on securely. This was an incredible challenge due to the size and weight of the model. In fact, it's what took the most time to develop through out the build. Overall, I'm satisfied with how the model turned out. This is more accurately representing an ISD II Destroyer. I tried to pay attention to every detail I could, based on a couple of star destroyer sources. It's a very modular build making it easier to assemble and disassemble. There is no interior in this model. Just pure structural integrity throughout the entire inside. Just the frame and stand are 6,000+ pieces, but this was my goal. Create as accurate of model as I could, displayed on one removable stand, and not having to limit detail because of weight and size. Anyways, enough rambling: You can view the rest of the photos here: Flickr Album Now here is some great news. If you want to build one yourself, you can! I have made instructions for this build that are available at https://www.brickvault.toys/products/imperial-star-destroyer
  4. I really loved 75055 when it came out. Good balance of play and display. But I hesitated to do anything further with it for a long while, and then when the UCS ISD was announced I wanted to wait for that. But with the price and all the visible studs damping my enthusiasm for the UCS model, I decided to look again at 75055. So what bothers me about 75055? First, what’s up with the chunks of dark grey? That’s not right, and they need to go. Then, why did they use the wheel parts fo the big engines? Kinda lazy. It’s also too short. It needs to be extended in the back. The guns are cool, but why are they all the same- one of them should look different. And where is the reactor dome on the bottom? Then more fundamentally, what if we could tile up this version? Well here we go. Most of the modifications were used with parts I had sitting around, supplemented with 50 bucks of a ‘mixed light blue grey tile’ lot and the purchase of 3 half barrels for the engines. Tiled top and bottom. Couple of sand blue tiles in there as a tribute to the Monarch. :) ISD-Front2 by Peter Foster, on Flickr Small cheat on the front- that middle 1x4 centre bit is just sitting in place not connected. ISD-Front by Peter Foster, on Flickr Dome added to the bottom- was worried the extra back weight would make the stand fall over, but still seems to balance. ISD-Dome by Peter Foster, on Flickr New gun design. ISD-Guns by Peter Foster, on Flickr Half barrel engines- way way better- and extending the back plates makes a real difference. ISD-Engines by Peter Foster, on Flickr Built a little Tantive to go with this. IDS-back by Peter Foster, on Flickr I think we are scr*wed! ISD-Trouble by Peter Foster, on Flickr So not saying this is a classic or anything, but amazing how much better it looks with just a few mods and some tiling. I think the top would look better with smaller tiles-more 1x2's 1x3's and 2x3's. And I would like to redo the whole set up of the engine bay. But for now, I think this is pretty good, and fits on the shelf.
  5. It has arrived: My UCS Moc of the Devastator. This is my largest and most accurate model to date, started off as a rebuild of my older model which was disproportional and poorly built in some places. The Model confines al the main features including a battery of 8 turbo lasers, 2 hangers with docking arms, underside tractor beam and swappable tractor beam targeting arrays that can change the ship between a Imperial I class destroyer to a Imperial II class destroyer. The model comes on a removable start and has no interior features, apart from storage for extra parts such as plugs to fill in the stand gaps in the hanger and the secondary Tractor beam array. The bridge and superstructure come in 2 removable parts to ease the weight of his heavy model. The two destroyer variants: Glory to the Empire! This is the topic for the build process, to see how it was done: Full album with additional photos here:
