The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

Hello all, it's been quite some time since I've commented on here and a lot has happened since then. I must say, I was incredibly disappointed when I learned that we get another year of Batman, but wow has this theme got me hooked! Anyways, I guess this is where I talk about the sets and all that. The Scuttler has got to be the best bat-vehicle Lego has come up with.... and yes that is a pretty crappy accomplishment to be given. Poison Ivy has the best design on a minifigure I've seen in a long time. Perfect hairpiece with exaggerated curls, incredible costume that combines elements of most of her costumes, and an ideal face that has a very Pamela Isley feel to it. Not sure why Lego felt the need to make Batgirl and Commissioner Gordon black, I mean I'm all for diversity (and admittedly, the Bat-verse has very little of that) but why? Our first sorta-comic inspired Commissioner Gordon and he's not as accurate as expected. Oh well, I'm glad we're getting him anyways. That trailer! Wow, polka dot man appears to be wearing the football players helmet? March Harriet looks pretty cool, not someone I'm familiar with but definitely gonna pick up her figure anyways. Kite Man is kind of a let down, shouldn't he have had dual molded legs? I remember him having dark green boots but perhaps I'm just remembering things. Overall pretty good. I guess Mad Harriet was confused with March Harriet in the prelims? Their names are pretty similar I can see why someone would confuse the two. The minifigure series actually looks pretty weak to me. No Batwoman figure rumored to be in any of the sets, Batman Beyond is absent and some of the choices were just odd. Why were 6 out of the 20 characters Batman suits? And yet somehow the sets almost all contain the same Batman figure. Might just be me but I don't see the appeal in a tutu Batman or a Bat-Pack. Although I'll admit, Raggae Bat is pretty awesome. One thing that did surprise me was the inclusion of Tarantula. I thought she was a cool character when she was first rumored to be in the killer croc set, but now she definitely got my attention seeing as I don't have to buy a huge red truck some sewer pieces to get her. Overall, this theme is looking to be okay. Hopefully we'll see Gentleman Ghost somewhere, I was most excited to see him.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

Awe man, there goes my hope of this line having some characters that weren't Batman related. So it'll just be a year of Batman variants/characters, and vehicles? Wow, never heard of that before! Thanks! Maybe there is some hope for some decent characters left, here I was thinking all we'd get was Batman, nice to know we may see some Robin's along the way too! . Thanks for everyone providing information, you guys rock, here's to hoping (that's like my catchphrase ha ha).

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

Wow a lot has happened since I've last been logged in. I may have to update my post on the DC 2017 thread for a few simple reasons. I am still very disappointed that most of this wave is going to consist of vehicles and Batman variants, however I am a little optimistic about a few things. First of all, Sir Gareth has a Question minifigure drawing as his profile picture, and I must say, if that's a hint, then I'll be ecstatic! I love getting new heroes and considering the fact that we're not getting any comic based sets, I'll gladly take any new heroes we can get. And of course, the rumor that we're getting Catman really gives me hope for receiving other characters. I do have one question however, and would like to know if someone could clarify; is the collectible minifigure series going to be 5-6 female characters and 14-15 batman variants, or are the male figures going to include different characters? Strange question I know, but it seems we will expect most if not all of the figures to be Batman variants, and each collectible minifigure line has around 5-6 females so I assume we will receive something along those lines. Or will all 20 be Batman variants? Sorry for being so confused, hope the sets are great.

DC Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion

I may be late to the game, but I guess I'll go ahead and share my thoughts anyhow. I'm happy Lego is making a sub-theme for the DC line solely based on female characters. I am however, quite upset that they come in minidoll form. I know it was to be expected, and I was being a little too optimistic thinking we would get post-1985/pre-New 52 designs with killer sets and detailed minifigures and plenty of new characters. But what we got instead was very bland builds, mostly characters we already got, and very few characters at all. Of course I knew going in that this would be based around the DC Super Hero Girls line, but a guy can sure dream. I really don't know what I was expecting, we knew we would get a certain design, but the reveal of them coming in doll form and the lackluster builds really wiped my enthusiasm for this theme. Hang me if you will, but I am still disappointed in this wave. The real atrocity however, was the reveal that we would be getting no comic based sets at all this year. Just a few movie based sets, some brickheads, these crappy mini-doll sets, and the Lego Batman Movie Line, with very little diversity in heroes, and pretty much just Batman, his villains, and useless builds (because we haven't gotten that before have we?). Oh well, more money for other things I suppose. I'm very much disappointed in this years DC line, maybe the LBM will turn things around for me, but from the looks of it, it's just cars, Batman suits, and the occasional sidekick, and to think I thought Lego couldn't make this theme any less desirable. Whatever, sorry for the rant, and hope I don't get waves of messages from people trying to attack me for actually having expectations for this theme. Welp

DC Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion

Haha I know, what was I thinking, expecting good builds and new characters in the DC line? I set myself up for this! . In all seriousness though, I may just buy the mighty micros and use the figures as child versions of the league, similiar to the Justice League Unlimited episode where the Justice League became kids.

DC Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion

Awe man... I'm not sure how to feel about only getting mighty micros and movie sets for the line. I doubt we'll get a diverse wave of minifigures with the LBM. I won't deny that we will probably receive a few Justice League members, but judging from the trailer, all we'll get is repeats and new designs for existing characters (like classic Green Arrow). I was really hoping for a comic Justice League wave, since I don't collect movie sets (I've never really liked mixing the designs of classic, New 52, and movie minifigures), but I guess we'll just see some crappy designs for the movie sets, and a bunch of Batmen (so basically a normal year for DC). Damn, I really wanted new characters, oh well, always have next year (sigh). Sorry for the rant.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

So I may be a tad late on this topic, but I've came to discuss my feelings on the upcoming summer wave. 75057: Not sure how i feel about this set. I appreciate the effort in the build, its not superb, but its decent, just not visually appealing. The aunt may figure is new but the pieces in it look very reused (?), maybe that's just me. Scorpions small cart thing looks awkward, and the figure/character really doesn't appeal to me. I absolutely love Green Goblin and his build, scarlet spider isn't half bad and Spider Girl is horrible to me, I seriously hate that hairpiece. Kraven confuses me, not sure what to think of him. Overall I have mixed feelings about this set and will probably not buy this set. 76059: White Tiger. That's about all I see that interests me about this set. She looks nice but I don't think I see Black Panthers piece on her, quite as shame since it would have suited her. Doctor Octopus has the honor of never appearing in a decent set, I mean come on his 2012 set was bland and his design was repulsive, in 2014 his bank car heist set wasn't terrible but it wasn't based on any exciting comic-inspired build it just didn't win me over. Overall disappointing to me 76058: I am IN LOVE with this set. It appears that ghost rider is using a trans-red version of syndroms hairpiece, this was a good move imo. Spider-mans new web shooting piece seems fun, hob goblin is such a well detailed figure, and the build is absolutely amazing, overall I love this set, can't wait to add ghost rider to my lineup of superheroes. Also, can anyone tell me if Captain Marvels second head in the Avenjet space mission has a double sided head? I'm thinking about buying this set and that's honestly going to be the deal breaker for me, I don't want to have more than 1 figure with the same head, I dunno it just bothers me. So if anyone can confirm whether or not she has a double sided head on the spare (the red head), I would really appreciate it! Overall this is another okay year build wise for Lego Marvel, great for minifigures. I am also super sad to hear that we will no longer be receiving X-Men sets. I was just getting into X-Men comics and I am more than dissapointed to hear that we will never have more than 2 sets, 1 of which sharing half of its figures with the other. Seems like I will be saving money this year, as I have lost almost all interest in movie based sets for superheroes, the builds have become lazy (although the same could be said about some comic based sets), and my favorite costumes are the classics for Marvel and New 52 for DC (don't shoot me). This summer wave is giving me mixed feelings, but I sure do love that ghost rider set. Glad you all shared the pictures!

Thank you! Oh I'm going to go on such a first world rant if they're minidolls!

DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is even considered relevant but do we have any confirmation that the Lego DC Girls line is even coming? Are we still expecting a sub-theme for the upcoming tv show, or was that not an actual rumor and just wishful thinking on behalf of some online users? Hopefully it is coming and it isn't going to include minidolls, I really want new female figures that are compatible with my old figures, I'm not a fan of minidolls. It'd be a shame if the theme included minidolls because the only female figures we're getting next year are Wonder Woman, Lois Lane and Harley Quinn.... all figures we've received before. Here's to hoping we see some new figures next year, Marvel's getting 2 that we know of so far (Captain Marvel and Agent 13) not to mention that DC is getting less sets, and they all include Batman.... AGAIN

    LEGO Early Discontinuation?

I too have noticed that Lego has been discontinuing sets rather early. This is especially unfortunate in the CMF series. I remember back in late 2012- early 2013, I could buy series 6, 7, 8, and 9 at my local TRU, I could find series 6-8 readily in stock at most stores and series 5 was still available online (this was before the release of series 9 though). It's a shame that now, you can only get about 1-2 series out at the same time. It's crazy how much changed in 3 years. Perhaps it was just my local TRU, but I truly miss the days when I didn't have to feel like I needed to save up on money to buy sets before they get discontinued.... the same year they were released. Especially considering how some series Lego has nowadays are just filler (I'm looking at you Pirates), maybe one day we'll go back to the 2 year cycle most sets used to have, just maybe.

    Which Comic Do You Read?

Finished reading the Phoenix rising series by Chris Claremont from the 90's, and bought Days of Future past recently after what one could consider a dark age for comics. I don't know why I stopped collecting for over a year, maybe it was the money, maybe it was the time, but I sure am glad I got back into it, and I'm also watching the 90's X-Men cartoon online, I guess I'm just in an X-Men mood

DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion

I'm confused, what exactly do you mean, did he change his pic to hint at a cmf line? If so, that would be amazing, but how can we draw so many conclusions from a simple profile picture? Totally on you with that, this theme is just a sequel to the first Lego Batman series, although I wouldn't mind a New 52 rendition of the Gotham City Sirens in brick form...

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion

So excited for this series to come out, are the rumors of the D2C to accompany this series still circulating? I'm so hyped, I can't wait for this to come out. Sad to see no princesses though.

DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion

I love that new Harley figure, but her cycle and Batman's just plain suck. I hate to be the debbie downer of the group, but those figures just aren't enough for me to purchase such a bad set. The might micros are cute but I'm just not interested, maybe 2017 will be different... just maybe.

REVIEW: 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15

Great review Whitefang! I gotta say, only the Satyr, Queen, Shark suit guy, and winged warrior excite me, it's a subpar series to me now that I get to see them in depth, the farmer in particular is a very bland design. I thought I would really like this series, glad you all are liking it though
