BRICKSHELF is up again !!! HURRY HURRY HURRY!

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to confirm for you guys, the "kevin" posting is not the Kevin from Brickshelf.

hmmm... there is a reason i believe this is authentically the kevin@BS... the time when he made his first post (in a friendly mannor toward the AFOL community), and the time BS re-opened (a friendly action toward the AFOL community), were right around the same hour. just coincidence, perhaps :-/

Keep in mind that EB is the only place he has posted this.. And on all other sites I've seen him registered, he's called "kl". 8-|

The email I've seen from the Kevin@BS says it is NOT him posting. *shrug* believe what you will.

Well, it does seem somewhat suspicious. I'm more inclined to believe that this is simply a prankster making himself out to be Kevin. You would think that if Brickshelf was going to be replaced with a new site that he would be advertising as much in order to entice subscribers. Personally, I think that this is it, so save your files while you can.

Well, he posted that BS is open after you posted that in this topic here

at 8.56 PM, and he posted over in the other thread the same message at 9.00 PM....

And I saw that he was already online at that time here, reading your message.... :-P

it is adding up that this is not him...

however, my reason for believing it was, is because his first post was "Today, 02:42 PM " this was just as BS went back up, and just before i noticed it and posted this topic... since the timing was so close, and both occurrences projected a "friendly demeanor" i figured this was a good chance it was him.

but it doesn't make sense that he would only be in contact with EB (i didn't know this fact as i am pretty Ebcentrical ). i mean we are important, but not that important :-D

Well, I at first instinctively thought that it was Kevin. There's a lot of reasons for me why I've never joined Lugnet, though read its forums. One of them being that it does seem to specialise in flare ups with a certain eric sophie, etc. But heh, perhaps eccentricity and creativity run as one?

And also, because I never am able, whenever I try, to create a Lugnet profile. Do you have to donate to get posting? It's not nearly as straightforward by any means as somewhere like here at EB. Now, see, if Jennifer and/or Kevin are real, they'll be able to allay my fears on this. But, we shall see.

Last I knew you didn't have to donate to post on lugnet. I'm member 76 there, so I haven't signed up to lugnet in forever. I would contact the administration at lugnet if you are having a problem creating a profile there.

Jennifer, thanks for confirming about Kevin, and for keeping us updated. I'm sure the entire community must be in a bit of a fog right now, so thanks for taking the time :-)

I don't know if anybody has suggested this yet or not, but MOC pages.com is a good, pure lego website. I registered this afternoon. If you don't have an account, its a good idea. Just sayin' :-)

The general consensus about MOCpages though is that not only is it overrun by little kids, but the interface is horrible! Every time you click "back" you lose your place...

Pretty much.

Unfortunately, this may be one of the few LEGO-only sites for hosting images in the future. Still, like alot of fans, I have issues with the endless droves of kids who insult any and every well-built MOC only to throw praise to yet another "custom" Halo minifig. MOCpages was ok a few years back, but it has deteriorated to the point that alot of AFOLs simply can't stomach the endless rants and negative comments coming from anonymous posters.

kevin, thanks for keeping us updated, and welcome to EB.

can you comment of the future of maj.com ???

- BM

Thank you. To answer your question, i have no intentions of closing maj. It is unfortunate that i have to change from BrickShelf being as recognizable as it is to the community. As most of you are aware bandwidth to run a site with as many pictures as BrickShelf costs unimaginable amounts of money. I am pursuing alternate courses on a different site(no current URL) that should be up soon. So i beg you, gather your pictures now so they are not lost in the course of time. Once again, I appreciate all of the people in the lego community for your support. ~ Kevin

Hey Kevin! Welcome back. X-D So what do you think about the rumor that you're not really Kevin from Brickshelf? Is that a bunch of bull or what? *wacko* Is it really you are you impersonating someone who's done a lot of great work for this community over the years? That would be weird. :-D :-D :-D WHy would someone do that?!

It's... ALIVE!

its_alive.jpg

for now...

So... What will happen to maj now? Will lego users keep using it? Since maj is a general pic website, will this destroy it because of all the incoming lego pics? I mean that will all the new pictures of lego mess up the purpose of maj?

thanks for posting this information about MOCpages, BaW and SW4J, so very very much... it really gives me some validation for "leaving" MOCpages for this very fact. i didn't know there were others who had similar runs-ins with unexplainable negative feedback with no constructive criticism |-/... just a bad rating with no explanation >:-(

i did notice "ghost" after "ghost" on MOCpages, and not the "Ghost Town" kind, apparently its a "Halo" thing *wacko*

this really does gives me validation, honestly, so thanks again - BM

Dayum.

So much happened to me today... and I came home to this. lol

Hey Kevin... it doesn't matter if you're the real Kevin or not, for assuming the Peeron girl is real, then the real Kevin IS reading this right now.

Thank you.

I'm sad that for some reason, 100's of 1000's of links spread ALL OVER the internet are now going to leave topics just empty, dead shells.

But what you've done for the Lego community up to this point... it's a staggering effect you've had.

Thanks to you, SO many people were able to have a standardized interface, breaking down doors of wasted time otherwise spent trying to find stable hosting places.

In doing so, you left people bothering with the important things... building and observing others building.

It doesn't sound like much, explained in that way, but it couldn't be closer to the truth.

NEVER have I seen something as stable and even better, simple to use than Brickshelf.

I've launched a few harsh comments at you recently, and since they were correct appraisals, I take none of them back.

But that's tough love too... and believe me, I LOVE you for what you've done.

Your tiny act of creating an interface to upload images of a specific toy has brought an indescribable amount of happiness to many people in this world.

I don't know the reasons this is happening, and I have no shame in theorizing, but it doesn't change my most important opinion of you...

...that you having lived on this earth has made it better than it would've been without you.

Thank you, more than a long-winded post can convey.

Oh, screwit... pics are better:

Hi. I just wanted to say that I didn't have time to take part in brickshelf-shutdown related threads until now. I'm shocked by what has happened. I'm also glad that BS is temporarily available again - I didn't have backups of some of my galleries, but now fortunately everything is on my hard drive. I hope everyone else downloads their pictures in time. I'm sure we'll all find a new place to share all our works.
