A-Frame Cabin An architectural icon from 1950 to about 1975, the A-frame is one of my favourite rural homes ever, a triangle-design built for lounging on outdoor decks and staring at nature. I built this cabin inspired, in part, by Harlan Hubbard's book Payne Hollow, about living a simpler life in a hand-built home. The author is considered by many a modern-day Thoreau. Two brothers, Dan and Ethan, burned out on modern working believed that stripping away modern comforts and living more simply in nature would lead to a more spiritually an creatively fulfilling life. They looked for a cabin in the woods and finally found out this old wooden A-Frame Cabin. They fixed up it and now they live there happily. It's not my first cabin in the woods but it was very funny building the "A" structure and trying to add many weird details. I also played with the light to let the scene as deep as possible. To build the basement I ripped off the clever hammers technique by Letranger Absurde. Below few pictures Hope you like it!

It's Christmas Time...Santa's Cottage (on LEGO IDEAS too) It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas and as usual in this period it's time for a Christmas themed creation. The main feature is probably the asymmetrical roof with a very sloping shape to the left. The woodshed is located under the excess roof. The red/white/black color combo is simple but effective, and the snowy trees in the background match well. Last but not least the door and windows are round, a shape rarely spotted on a cottage, but quite common in Hobbit houses. Santa, who is coming home from a relaxing walk, has also a nice off-road vehicle painted with a color scheme matching with the cottage. You can spot it on the right. This is probably my last MOC for this year and I wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Theo's Trabuchet fishing hut The Trabucco (Trabuchet) is a typical and ancient fishing machine from the east coast of Italy. It's made of wood and consists of a platform into the sea connected to the coast by a tight bridge made of wooden boards. From this platform, two (or more) long arms called antennae stretch out suspended some feet above the water, supporting a huge and narrow-meshed net (called trabocchetto). My little Trabucco is the home of Theo, an old red-bearded fisherman who loves spending his days fishing and preparing the nets. Every now and then some friends visit him by boat, since the medium-azure hut can be reached by an unstable ladder starting right from the sea. Today Pablo is docking at the pole near the Trabucco, he has come to visit his friend Theo. Enjoy!

[MOC] Magda's Garden Shed (or the Shed with the Tree)

Magda's Garden Shed Every time I visit a garden shop I am fascinated by the mixture of colors and shapes of the plants that you can find there. I really like that atmosphere especially in the old rustic shacks. I tried to recreate that kind of location by building a barn-shaped shed surrounded by flowers and plants. The inspiration came from a drawing by a Japanese dioramist that I really appreciate. The large tree that sprout up from the roof catches the eye and it's the leading element of the entire scene. The Garden Shed is the kingdom of Mrs. Magda (can you spot her?), a friendly Spanish lady who has retired to the countryside with her funny cat. She spends her spare time taking care of the multitude of lush plants and flowers. The diorama is full of details and strange pieces, have fun finding them. Hope you like it! -
THE CLOCK TOWER Hi guys, finally here we have this MOC that I have been working on during months. This Diorama represents from the left to de right; The Whomping Willow, the Stone Circle entrance that connects to the Wooden Bridge that I have omitted for space reasons in this MOC, and Hagrid’s Hut. In the Back we have the section of Hogwarts that represents the Gryffindor Tower, the Clock Tower and also the North Tower, where the Divination classroom is located. After the completion of my last MOC, I decided that from then on each MOC that made the Hogwarts Castle would be based only on one or two films in order to recreate them as completely as possible. Because the clock tower is a new section in the Azkaban prisoner film, I decided to focus on this film, but when LEGO released the new Harry Potter sets I finally dedicated the castle to the first three Harry Potter films, thus recreating the final scenes of the philosopher's stone and the secret chamber. Joe's Cottage (and Joe's tow truck) Joe is a lonely guy. He lives in his tan wooden cottage somewhere in the woods. His mates are birds and chickens. He loves driving his tow truck and he always helps people who are in breakdown on their way. My latest creation was inspired by a Japanese model maker who makes little cottages and shacks in the woods. I added few NPU like the speargun as light holder, pistons on the electricity pole, Ninjago hat on the chimney and some other even on the tow truck. I tried to photograph the scene making it alive and warm, it seems to me there is a nice atmosphere due to the light sideways. Take a moment to appreciate all the small details that all add up to this rustic scene. It was very funny building this and even more catching the details to insert via period pictures spotted on the web. Hope you like it!

I have just made my first submission in Lego Ideas, a Tyrolean mountain hut to have a break from all the hiking. Rest and eat some homemade cheese here! Walden; or, Life in the Woods A few months ago a friend of mine loaned me a book I had always heard of but never read. The book is the well-known "Walden; or life in the woods" written by Henry David Thoreau and published in 1854. Walden details Thoreau's experiences over the course of two years, two months, and two days (1845–47) in a cabin he built near Walden Pond amidst woodland owned by his friend and mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson, near Concord, Massachusetts. By immersing himself in nature, Thoreau hoped to gain a more objective understanding of society through personal introspection. Simple living and self-sufficiency were Thoreau's other goals, and the whole project was inspired by transcendentalist philosophy, a central theme of the American Romantic Period. It is considered Thoreau’s masterwork. Struck by the history and inspired by the cover of the book, in the few past weeks I built Thoreau's cabin in the wood. After being forced out of his home by the Kaliphlin Civil War Badr the Botanist fled the capital, and took refuge by an oasis, the perfect place to continue his work. He lived a lonely life, but he was at peace. That is until a messenger from his former university stumbled upon his simple abode. Finally he builds for Kaliphlin! Fist official build of the year, I built this in early February, but only got round to posting it now because of school (and trying to stretch out my builds to make it look like I post regularly. A new sub-genre for me and I thought it was about time I branched out. Also two things have arrived in the mail (a while back now but till of great importance). a) Kingdom Come: Deliverance, look it up if you haven't heard of it. It has become my number 1 game and if you love anything medieval, you should consider this game. I mean it doesn't only look amazing, but the game play is great as well. b) I finally used up my CBC prize and got some Brickwarriors stuff, which has given me some much needed inspiration. I don't love using custom stuff, but when trying to make stuff realistic, its kinda a must have. C&C needed and hope you enjoy :)

A fun build to try new wall techniques for me, and the roof was a pain in the bum. Also RIP Millennium Falcon, your sacrifice is much appreciated... Interior: Thanks for looking!

Hello Eurobricks Historic! I am intensely inspired by this forum and a huge castle fan since childhood. I really enjoy the challenge of combining playability with appealing aesthetics - hope you guys/gals can offer some critique for my future builds. Here's to my first MOC shared on Eurobricks! A renowned local herbalist grows ingredients and preps her potions in a hut not far from town. The purple & tan colour scheme was inspired by a Toronto pick-a-brick wall full of tan SNOT bricks and purple tiles. Conveniently complementary colours. I built around the dimensions of a typical MMV type building, but wanted to include plenty of garden space. I always liked houses that are displayable when open, like it's a two connected buildings on one side of a dirt road. This made things tricky with the garden space buffer and I got around this by placing the hinges on a chimney which extends further outside to power the distilling contraption: Friends sets provide some fun flower variety. I was also happy to find that lego made amanita mushroom pieces while I was in my dark ages. I got these giant tan slopes from a used sphinx set I bought and really wanted to incorporate them. However I realized they looked really dull, and so I added vines, which evolved to wrap around the whole building. I feel like no home is complete without a space to live and sleep. Admittedly there is no bathroom, but the garden does need fertilizer. A prep station full of interesting ingredients, a pot producing a ghastly green smoke as it boils. A place for stocking inventory and gardening tools, those potions look potent.. She senses a soul in search of answers The confident traveller on his way to battle insists on only her strongest potions. He is disappointed to find that her potions are far too strong for him. Onward he goes to find a seller that sells weaker potions I'm pretty happy overall with the addition of a civilian building to my medieval setup -- however there are a few things I would do differently next time: Firstly I would probably skip forcing big pieces into the build, like the big tan slopes, they did not look stellar when naked, which forced some flimsy coverup. They are also not very stable, which is annoying for playing with the set. As I expand my collection perhaps I can try multiple iterations. Secondly, I am not entirely happy with the roof overall, since the points where the large plates join at the top and the lack of overhang on the sides look somewhat unfinished. Either way, I'm looking forward to trying out some alternative roof techniques on my next castle themed build. Please feel free to share your thoughts on potential improvements.

Hello residents of Historica! Would like to happily present my third moc. This is my second moc for GoH, and Nocturnus. (You can check the first one here, which is a vignette.) I built this moc in LDD first, because i've started to use that program not too long ago, and i am liking it very much. This way i can try a lot of things, and variations on a moc, and if i decide to build it in real life, i can save a lot on bricks, because of the parts list provided by LDD. I wrote a short story again, and continue to give you some background information on my character, Gutkeled the Tangled. Here we go! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Saga of Gutkeled the Tangled II. From the Cradle to the Vague I.: After Gutkeled the Tangled saved Cailleach Bheur, they agreed to team up and travel together temporarily. They headed south south- east, towards the coast. The mighty Kyrrath Mountains indicated the right direction for a while. Both of them could use the company, and it was safer together. Lots of nasty things were going on in the grim and dark lands of Nocturnus on any day, but now with the civil war raging, it was more than worse. Nobody was safe! Eventually they reached Skavenport, and paid for a ferry to one of the nearby islands, where Gutkeled had a small boat, and a cabin deep on the bayou. He invited Cally for a meal. - Cozy wee but an' ben ye got here! - took a looksy around, as she sat down. - Thank you! I've build it with my two hands! Carved it out of the wilderness here. Kind of reminds me of home! - said Gutkeled, and served some food, and refreshments. - How lang have ye been living here? - asked Cally before the first bite into a scone. - A few years i guess! Who counts, eh?! - smiled the taciturn man, with a face full of buns. - Come on! Whit are ye feart of, loon! Cat got yer tongue?! No gaun to sit here in silence, listening to yer munching! Tell me a tale from yer early years! Whit did ye dae as a bairn?! Where did ye live? - forced the vamp a story, so Gutkeled gave into it. - Okay- okay! Just let me collect my thoughts, and swallow my morsel! Those were eventful years of my life for sure. - sighed the man, then began. - When I reminisce about all those years, I see many things. Life and death strung together, like the meadows and forests in which we lived. There was family and adventure, but also solitude and uncertainty. There was laughter and joy, and there was also sadness, and tears. But even more than tears, blood was shed. And so many were left to their unadorned graves, unburied. But to me, death was just another journey. Through the darkness, which i'm striding unflinchingly into the unknown, on a path paved with gray stone. And after all, when I reminisce about those years, I mostly remember green. Endless forest on the West, began from an end, filled with magic. Mysterious, and proud folk with pointy ears shaped like mine. Eerie atmosphere all around, isles constantly covered in thick fog. Light drizzle falling on me face. Mother's long ginger hair dancing in the cool, early moring breeze, as we were scouting the trail father suppose to arrive with the rising sun. Sometimes you could catch the gleam of his sword's blade on a clear day... - Wus he a knight? Yer auld man? - Cailleach slid to the edge of her chair curiously, interrupting Gutkeled's monologue. - Well, he was a warrior if needed. Always in the heart. A wanderer, seeker of forgotten tales, poet on other days. He was from the frozen lands, all year snow and mountains. Long nights and ale contests, pale lights and pine forests. Leifr Bárðrsson, clansman. Son of Bárðr, and Þórunn - the yellowish green faced man described his father, and his background passionately. - Dinna fancy they norsemen. Their blood is somehow feels cauld. Brrr!!! Shiver runs doon ma spine just as ah think of it! Whit did ya put in ma medd anyway? Tastes like a wicked witch on a rainy day! - twitched the woman from the bitter beverage that her host introduced her to. - It's the blood berry, Cally! That is what gives its sourness, and the scarlet color. I call this marsh mead. Fremented it meself - smirked Gutkeled, and sipped some from his green goblet. - Now that ye mention blood, ah wull need some soon! Cannot live on mead, bannock and buns. No offense chiel! Ye're a good cook, but ah just need a wee bit of me poison if ye ken what ah mean! Don't we aw?! - grinned the hungry vampire, as her eyes lit up with a twinkle, and her fangs appeared in her opened mouth. - All right! All right! Let me just finish my meal, and then i'll escort you to somebody i know, and can help you out with your... needs! - capitulated Gutkeled, and started to destroy the rest of the contents of his plate. - Guid! Ca' canny now! Don't choke on it! On oor way, ye can tell me mair aboot yerself! - pried the lady a bit. She was interested in Gutkeled. Saw something in him. Didn't know what. Yet! Maybe potential, opportunity! One thing was for sure. He didn't look like an average tree hugger, or a frost- blooded. The skin, the ears... Was he some kind of drow, or elf? Was Gutkeled even his real name? And what was about with that death thing? Too many questions rose up in the mind of Cailleach Bheur, but she had to wait a wee bit to learn everything. I was on vacation some time ago and I stayed with my family. They had some old LEGO from the 90's, mostly City and Western. Of course I had to tackle this mass of plastic to see what can be done :) So, it's not my usual build, but it gave me a lot of fun and some appreciation for the parts palette we have today :) I'm sorry for the picture quality, I did not have any white background save for the table cloth with lots of patterns on it ;) Full gallery is here: http://bricksafe.com/pages/Mestari/mountain-hut---retro-style

After several requests, I have made an MOC of a Sherwood camp, including Friar Tuck and his faithful dogs, Marian, and another member of the Merry Men roasting a fish. The MOC includes: A hut covered in vegetation, with loopholes on the sides for archers, a table for eating using gold dishes, plenty of food in barrels and crates, and some tools and cooking utensils on the wall A campfire surrounded by rocks and places to sit, with a fish rack and a bipod for making stew The target, conveniently "borrowed" from the tournament grounds, with which Robin Hood split his opponent's arrow Three minifigures, as mentioned above: Friar Tuck, Marian, and another member of the Merry Men roasting a fish over the fire. Since Friar Tuck is such a difficult minifigure to design with existing Lego pieces, I decided to give him his characteristic look using a yellow sticker over the bowl cut hair piece (after deciding that painting made the hair indentations even more conspicuous). I'd like to show you my next MOC. It was my attempt to create something that I would like to have myself to run away from town. It was more possible to do in bricks ;) Enjoy :) I am in the process of making instructions and learning Mlcad on the way, but it's going pretty bad for now... EDIT: Instructions are ready. [pid][/pid] 243B Hello Pirate Forum Building organic water with the bricks is always a challenge. I tried to solve this challenge with a new technique: Based on 1x1 Tiles with Clip + 1x2 trans Tiles. But the water alone was a bit boring so i added some plants, a bamboo hut and details. ;) More pictures you can find like always on flickr and MOCpages. I hope you enjoy it!
