LDD MOC: Lego Thomas and Friends

Do you plan on doing any more engines? These look great, especially now that you've updated Thomas and Edward..!
  2. I like the color scheme, and the opposeable fingers, and the HF chest armor gives this guy the look that he's strong and important, but there are some things that need to be adjusted. I think this guy needs some more silver distributed around his body in some shape or form, I think the blue parts on the lower legs should be turned trans blue to match the upper arms( or the upper arms turned solid 'light' blue to match the lower legs), and this Defender of the Universe will fall fast if he doesn't get some back support, stat! I would suggest perhaps giving him a tool as well.. something to 'defend the universe' with. I like the name, and I like the idea, but the guy is simple, and I think he needs a little work before he can go out and 'defend the universe'. I like saying 'defend the universe'. It sounds cool :P

    Vander

From what I can see in the gallery, Toa Vander looks rather well-put together. He's a little thin in appearance, as the waist helps demonstrate, but he's well armored, and with a nice, even color scheme. I do like what you did with the upper legs a lot- I would not have thought to use the old Zamor blaster parts in that fashion, but it works very, very well here! His lower legs appear very solid as well. I rather enjoy Vander's axe too. It's simple, and makes great use of the Visorak pincer. I'm not sure how I feel about his shoulders- while they are covered with smooth armor that flows well with the rest of the build, the armor appears to conflict with his mask in pictures where the arms are being raised sideways. It's a minor complaint on an otherwise great looking creation. Great work!

    HF Whats Left?

We've seen it in action on Dragon Bolt, one wonders what else we could do with it... I'd still like to see "The Crusher" as a set in the near future. That would be cool.

    HF Whats Left?

Someone brought up the idea for an 'OId West' theme a while back, I thought that was rather interesting. I'm thinking something like a Mine-Attack theme with Rock Monsters(like the Minifig sets had before) would be cool. Have the Heroes with drills and jackhammers as weapons, fighting under a city.. or a full-on undersea theme, that would be cool. I was thinking maybe Von Nebula could resurface in one of these themes, maybe as the villain with some squid-arms coming out of his back-for an undersea theme, of course!-, or just as an enlarged version of his old self.. who knows

LDD MOC: Lego Thomas and Friends

Being a massive Thomas fan, I am pleasantly surprised by all of these. I must say Thomas and Edward do look a little odd without their domes, but you've done a wonderful job of capturing Thomas' shape and his sloped front end. Henry and Gordon look great- I love the Technic valve gear on them, and on Arthur as well. I do wonder why you didn't do James- he completes the 'big engine trio' from the show, and I believe all the bricks are available to do him in real life. My personal favorites of the engines are Arthur and Molly. I think you did a terrific job of capturing Molly's elegant form in LEGO brick. :) I quite like the coaches, and Bulgy too- I'm surprised LEGO hasn't released a double-decker bus yet(excluding the 'Knight Bus' in the Harry Potter sets)! I do really like Maithwaite, and the 'Big Station' too- I was thinking if it was too many bricks, then perhaps you could do a smaller station? Like Tidmouth station, which is a smaller-looking version of Knapford(the big station, on TV). Finally I must say the C1 looks great. You actually built this one? That I simply must see! I think you've done brilliantly with all of these. Very well done, and happy future building :)

    Hero Factory 2013

I absolutely hat how they are doing that too.. The way I see it, the Heroes have been through 2 different build styles- the way the original sets were, and the 'Upgrade', and anything that isn't officially labeled as a x.0 beyond that shouldn't be called that. Now, where did I put my top hate? (Kidding!)

    REVIEW: 70203 Chi Cragger

Cragger has got to be my favorite set of the Chima Ultrabuilds. Certainly is one of the better looking, with those olive and 'Metru' Green parts, and those awesome, brutish blades. I agree with the 'Vastus' problem in posing with the weapon, and I definitely like your solution to the problem much more than how the set has you build it. I will admit that I thought the neck was a little unusual, but unusual is welcome in these sorts of builds. I don't mind the gap in the armor- he is pretty well covered otherwise, and I like that head.. that is a nice head. Cragger's definitely one I have to pick up. Lots of great parts, and he looks good constructed. The price may be a little iffy for me at the moment, but considering all the play value, it's worth it. Thanks for the review!

    [MOC] The World is Mine

"The World Is Mine".. I'm suddenly reminded of the second "Austin Powers" movie.. But that is pretty much what it's about. The world(nice use of the LEGO Star-Wars planet there) is in the palm of a giant hand.. which you built, so the world is yours! As everyone else has said, the hand looks good- it's the right size, has the right number of joints on each finger, and ends in a solid base. Very good work, I must say :)

    Hero Factory 2013

I wouldn't mind seeing some nice, new trans-yellow cladding in the series some time soon. The trans-lime green is nice, but I would have preferred true trans-yellow when we got Surge. Ah well. Red and Purple both sound like nice suggestions. I can see true Trans-red working out nicely for a villain, or perhaps another fire- themed villain. Purple can go either way, good or bad, and as much as I'd love to see it in an Evo set, I think it would most likely be featured in a villain set as well. So is that 5 or 6 trans colors we have as HF parts so far? Lime, Red-Orange, Yellow, that Appley-Green like in Breez and Ogrum, Light Blue...and the blue in Laval. Six. Not bad! Though perhaps more sizes of parts in some of these colors would prove beneficial for MOC-making.. I wonder how difficult it would be to make translucent bones? It would be rather interesting to see some trans-lime bones with black armor on a toxic villain.. wouldn't it?

    Fire Lord Revamp [WIP]

As far as building with the HF-introduced-action-figure-system, I say it looks alright. Lots of Technic round the middle, a lot more than I'm used to seeing in a figure with this system, but I like it. The fact that there is more silver is definitely a plus, Fire Lord had so few silver parts to start with, and I'm glad the scheme is more focused on fewer colors, as opposed to being a jumble of them like the original set had. I like seeing the Bohrok eye/claws being put to good use once again, and I like how the jets are set up. He does look a little odd without those 'antlers', but I imagine because this is a Work in Progress, those will be added later, if you continue building it. I think perhaps you should use those friction joints on the legs, they look rather thin at this stage and might have trouble holding the body up as they are now. I am glad to see somebody else using those Nitroblast-limb parts(the lower legs; I used mine for "Terrence the Troll"'s head) in a creation. I think you should continue constructing the Fire Lord. The build is unusual for a set in this system, but it's sturdy, solid, and looks good from most angles. I should love to see how this turns out when it's completed. :)

    Hero Factory 2013

Oh wait, that's right. If it was something like an Exo-suit, maybe having it the same color could work, but you're right, it should be a different color. If Bulk is silver, gunmetal, and red-orange(trans), then would a green vehicle work for him? I'm thinking colors on the color wheel, red and green contrast. And we haven't had a green vehicle yet in Hero Factory. Could be interesting..

    Hero Factory 2013

Just got Pyrox today, and despite the size, this bull is an impressive looking beast. At least, from the front. Head-mask-thing looks so much like the Piraka used to, but with a nose ring, which is pretty cool; and those trans fire-blade parts look really pretty in the sunlight. It's got a lot of great parts I will definitely be using soon for MOCing, and it's got that brain- odd how it feels, I expected it to be a little.. squishier. Hey, it works though, even if the tail won't stay connected to the red part sticking off the waist (When it does, I really get reminded of the Piraka..), but I digress. My only issue is the price- nearly 13 bucks for a set that has as many parts as Bulk does in this wave.. maybe the parts included, like the Ben 10 tails and feet, and the huge mask make it cost that much? Hmm. I still have a desire for Breez, and now I know of a place to find her in her Breakout form still, along with the much desired XT4.. but that's a little off topic there. Breez.. man. Also, how cool would it be to have 'The CRUSHER' as a set?? Gives Bulk the spotlight, unless they decide to cram Furno into the cockpit.. and it would probably have loads of silver armor parts.. I can just picture it now... ah, that's refreshing.

    Hero Factory 2013

SP paws as the feet? Hmm. I have an idea, but I'm not sure if it would be proper.. You could take the shortest bone part, the one that goes almost immediately from cup to ball, and attach the ball to the Paw part, and the cup to the shin/calf bone part of the leg, with the shin/calf bone part having a hinged ball connection.. I know it sounds a little confusing, but I can't describe the image any better. Perhaps I'll build it up and take a pic or two..

    [MOC] Khirsan

That is way too cool. Love how simple it is but how much it looks like what it's meant to. The one single eye in the middle is interesting.. I imagine there wasn't much that could be done there, but still it is. It's simple but it works very well! Nice work.
  16. I like it! It's simple, but fits the whole Croc-motif with the snapping jaw and olive green. Given the technology seen in the Chima sets already, I wouldn't be surprised if a Railway of some sort did find its way into the Chima world(as opposed to opening a dimensional gate to LEGO City), like for a mine or something. Nice work!

    SwampTonic

Ooh! He's a big one... I absolutely love this guy's shoulders. The feet create the perfect shape for the shoulders. Are the feet connected by the pin holes to the shoulders, or are they only connected by the ball-cup part. I really like the use of the Toxic Reapa head too, and all that lime. His smooth shape, and the fact that he could get drunk, leads me to wonder if he's in any way organic, or if he's a full-on machine? The silver spikes look great as well. Kind of like fins, but not really. And speaking of fins.. they look pretty solid. The tail's the same, and surprisingly the size doesn't have an effect on me. It's just right for the guy. His beer-spear looks neat as well. At least that's what I'm assuming, seeing as he seems to be drinking out of it in a picture. Nice use of the Meltdown container. He's a unique 'villain' for a unique Hero, and I like him a lot. :)

    [MOC] Sir Urguloth

I have to agree with Draik' on the armoring. He's covered very well from head to toe. There's not an angle this guy looks bad from. I dig the torso, especially how the 'engine cladding' covers the add-on piece in the middle, leaving only the circular part visible, and how solid the back looks. Speaking of the back, check out those guns! They look like your standard Hero Plasma-gun until you take a closer look. They look so cool! What's with the ammo belt on the back there? It doesn't connect to any of the guns, and to me looks a little out of place. I like the arms, the gun arm looks wicked cool with its missiles and those Plasma-gun cover things. The other arm looks nice with those long, spiked fingers, but I'm not sure I'm a fan of them being locked in the same position, as opposed to poseable fingers. The pose they hold now does look pretty cool in all the pictures, though. Reminds me of something from 'Soul Calibur'.. The legs look pretty solid all around, the use of the double Hero-foot works well here. Actually, the whole creation is pretty solid all the way around. I like that in a build like this, really I do. That, and the orange. I love the use of that orange. It could have easily been red, or white, or almost any other color, but you went with orange, and that I'm very happy about. Great work on this guy. :) Oh, and If you're looking for backstories, I have an idea- this guy, an inventor, was created before Hero Factory came to being. Seeing the galaxy ravaged by dastardly villains, and the justice system not being able to keep up, he takes his ideas and transforms himself into the hero he wants to be, a noble(and somewhat high-tech) knight, leaping away from his old home to defend the stars and worlds beyond. ..or something to that effect.

    [MOC] This is Madness...

Awesome! I like how it's a watery well instead of a endless Pit of Death. Much more kid-friendly. Really though, I like the scene, and how it was built. All the foliage fits in well with the whole 'jungle' theme.
  20. Since there aren't any bull or monkey tribes to make things easy, I'm going to have to go with the Eagle faction. Then I'd be able to sing about my being awesome while airborne. I believe I can fly... I believe I can touch the sky.. :P
  21. Bulls would be nice, as a good or neutral tribe(EDIT: Maybe they could be temple guardians of some kind?), and monkeys as a mischievous tribe 'all for themselves'. They wouldn't be sided with the crocs or the lions, good or bad, but they would work to sabotage both side's plans. I know it's not likely, given their tech and the fact that they themselves are animals, but do you think a bull or giant pig steed thing could be made to pull carts around? Wouldn't really count as a tribe animal, more like an animal the tribe people breed and use daily. EDIT: Just had another idea. The idea for a Walrus tribe has been mentioned before, but what if(because they live around water) the Walrus tribe was in fact a band of Walrus-pirates? How cool would that be?

    MOC: Flo Rivers

Really? Can't wait to see this villain you have built! It follows the undersea- theme too, right?

    MOC: Flo Rivers

A true aquatic Hero? Blue and Lime? I like it already! The upper body looks pretty standard. I do like that you've used the lime 'Inika' armor part and that triangle piece in blue on the back, really fills out the back well. I also like seeing that 'Hero Drop Ship' pilot's helmet in use. Not only is does it match the color scheme but it is also smooth, and sleek, and that would work very well underwater, I think. The fingers are a surprise, a bit big but they don't look out of place to me. The blades they hold are awesome, as usual. Like that you gave them actual hilts. The tail is what interests me most. In my mind I think of it as a Hero-upgrade, after previous upgrades(cough*Furno*cough) proved inefficient before. It looks like a solid build, the lime shoulder-pad things capture the necessary shape at the top very well, and for the most part, the tail flows smoothly. The lime Savage-Planet decoration does disrupt this flow, but I think it does look rather nice. I do wish the new socket parts were released in lime and blue( I mean the part used for the hands and at the bottom of the tail), but it's not too huge a problem. Overall I really like this Hero. It's a creative build but it still looks like your standard Hero-Factory member, and I like that a lot. I think the only thing missing is a undersea baddie for this Hero to catch and cuff!

    Hero Factory 2013

"Bulk SMASH!" I get the reference. Nice. I almost prefer the Korean-sounding voices to the English now. Something sounded off in all their tones, Furno especially. I like that the whine seems to be nearly gone from Surge's voice, that's a nice change, but what isn't is that Bulk seems to be shouting all the time. Stormer brought up Breez's special ability. Nice that that wasn't left out. Episode on the whole was alright, but in terms of dialogue it does leave lots of room for improvement. The plot too feels a bit rushed, and the cliffhanger end makes me wonder if there will be a third wave of Brain-Attack Heroes. I'd love to see Stringer with a visor, really I would.

    art happens 2.0

I like the group scene with every Alpha-1 team member. Haven't seen many of that kind of group-artwork for Hero Factory. Kind of surprising, actually. Furno's bike looks really good! Before it looked odd, because the handlebars on the set aren't on the part that moves the front wheel; now it looks kind of like the bikes in "Tron", where the rider would lean or perhaps turn the handlebars forward or back to turn the bike. Smart, that. Also, I find myself thinking how much like the Toa Nuva armor Furno's torso-armor looks. Pretty cool. I'm not sure how I feel about the new design. They are machines, and they do wear armor, but on the Rookies and Rocka it just kind of looks like they're wearing metal overalls over their bodies. I prefer the more organic version of the Hero build and armor system than this one. Maybe it was the torso. I really liked the armoring on the stomach-area and the shoulders before. Having said that, the Alpha Team are recognizable as the Alpha Team, and that's what is important. Stringer's helmet looks awesome, and I don't think Bulk could ever look bad, no matter what form he's in. The fact that you made him big and bulky, and kept him that way, is terrific. Mixed views about this latest design, but I do like the full team 'photo' thing going on here. I look forward to seeing more as it progresses :)
