Licensed Lego Ideas - Support & Discussion
thenightman89 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I designed a Winter Village inspired set based on Dr. Seuss's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." It was a ton of fun hiding Easter egg references to other famous Seuss books, as well as writing up my Seuss-inspired poem for the description. Your support would make my heart grow three sizes! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/a581dbe8-c756-4ab4-944c-2f7c776a2aa7 -
[MOC] Modular Paddy's Pub from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"
thenightman89 posted a topic in LEGO Town
I designed a modular building (32 x 32 studs) that is carefully designed to resemble the worst bar in Philadelphia, Paddy's Pub. And don't worry, jabronis, I also made instructions for it, which can be found on Rebrickable and my personal site. To limit the piece count, only the first floor interior is furnished - however, the bar is packed with hilarious Easter eggs that any "It's Always Sunny" fan will immediately recognize. Let me know whatcha think!- 2 replies

The Lord of the Rings 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
thenightman89 replied to Alegrispa's topic in LEGO Licensed
If LEGO does not release 18+ style Architecture-style sets of the iconic locations of Middle Earth, they're basically throwing money away. Give me Orthanc and Barad-Dur! -
"GREAT SCOTT!" A double-corner style modular of the famous Clock Tower / Court House from "Back to the Future!" What a joy and challenge it was to design this MOC! Not only was it a challenge to match the look of the building (classical architecture is particularly sensitive to proportions) but also make sure it fit within the confines of the Modular Building style. To limit the piece count (and because the inside of the building was never meaningfully shown on-screen), the interior of this MOC is bare-bones but functional (see more pics on Rebrickable). This leaves you with plenty of fun and opportunity to design your own look. Anyone interested can find the instructions here and on Rebrickable.com!

[MOC] Modular "Back to the Future" Clock Tower
thenightman89 replied to thenightman89's topic in LEGO Town
Of course, I couldn't stop at just building the Clock Tower - I have now gone ahead and designed the park that appears in front of the Clock Tower in 1955! Surely I'll eventually try to do the 2015 versions of the Clock Tower and its park...but in the meantime, let me know what you think of the 1955 versions!- 9 replies

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
thenightman89 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Overall - there's a lot to like! The design of the hotel is striking - I'm just not in love with the light nougat color of the 2nd floor and the art gallery feels a bit smushed/tacked on, especially with the stairs leading up to the patio bar. -
71033 LEGO Muppets CMF Series - Rumors & Discussion

This is so exciting since it will make a Muppet's "A Christmas Carol" display a reality in my winter village! -
I designed a MOC of Zonko's Joke Shop that uses 82% of the pieces found in the official Hogsmeade Village Visit set (76388), so you can more easily expand your village! Anyone who may be interested can find the instructions here and on my Rebrickable page.

I designed a series of MOCs in the style of the Architecture Skyline series for "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. These designs are slimmed down versions of my original MOCs to be more in line with the width and depth of the official Skyline sets. I hope you enjoy figuring out which iconic locations are represented in each skyline! For anyone who may be interested in the instructions, you can find them here and on my Rebrickable page.

Lego Architecture - rumors and discussion

While it's a nice improvement from the original, it just strikes me as an incredibly uncreative choice from LEGO when there are endless other possibilities! -

I designed the US Supreme Court in the style of the Architecture Landmark series! Since the building is actually quite long in its depth, I took inspiration from the overall approach of the official Trafalgar Square set. The rear side of the building also features a super micro version of the famous courtroom! Let me know what you think!

E pluribus unum - out of many (bricks), one (skyline!) I designed this MOC in the style of the Architecture Skyline series and features some of Washington, D.C.'s most iconic and celebrated sites, including: - The Jefferson Memorial (with Japanese Cherry Blossoms) - The Smithsonian Institution Building (aka The Castle) - The White House - The Washington Monument - The National Museum of African American History and Culture - The United States Capitol When I first built this, I was mostly eyeballing it as far as heights go. Everything turned out pretty accurate (within reason), but the Washington Monument could probably afford to lose a 1 x 1 brick at the bottom. :D Anyone interested can find the instructions here and on Rebrickable.com!

As a follow-up to my Honeydukes MOC, I designed Hogsmeade's The Three Broomsticks in the style of the Winter Village series! The technique for the roofs came from the Gingerbread House set since I knew that is an exceptionally sturdy design. Anyone who may be interested in the instructions can find them here and on Rebrickable.

I had quite a chuckle at Chris slowing sliding the donuts over to him. I somehow never recognized the evidence locker in the previous pics - does anyone know all the Easter eggs that are included in it that they mentioned?
-
I'm a big fan of the Winter Village series, so I decided to try creating Hogsmeade's famous sweet shop, Honeydukes, in the same style! Let me know what you think! Anyone who may be interested in the instructions can find them here and on Rebrickable. In addition to high quality PDF instructions, you will also receive three PNG files for the Honeydukes Logo and Font, which can be used to create your own custom stickers or custom printed tiles (from sites such as Bricksanity).

"Can you tell me how to get how to get to Sesame Street?" While the official 123 Sesame Street set (21324) is undoubtedly adorable, it does not easily fit into the Modular Building style. I challenged myself to convert the set into the Modular style using pieces almost entirely exclusive to the set. The only pieces that I needed to use in addition to the set's pieces were tiles for the sidewalk, two 1 x 2 brick with hole (in medium nougat), and a 16 x 32 baseplate. With the modifications, I think this design fits rather nicely alongside the official Modular Buildings! Anyone who may be interested in the instructions can find them here and on Rebrickable! Like all official Modular sets, I was able to design the building to be enclosed on all four sides. Additionally, the roof and second floor can be removed to view and access the interiors! The interiors contain many of the same memorable details from the official set (e.g. Ernie's iconic bathtub); however not all of the same details could be included since the official set's building is 6 studs wider. Below is a closer look at the front and back - since I limited myself to only using the pieces in the set, you can see the dark orange bricks from Hooper's Store needed to be used to provide a "weathered" look on the back. Now I can't wait to pick up the set and it this to my LEGO City!

"Everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished." This is my latest MOC designed in the style of the Architecture Skyline series. It features four of the key locations from "Avatar: The Last Airbender," including: - The Southern Air Temple (with Appa and Aang's glider) [AIR] - The Northern Water Tribe [WATER] - Ba Sing Se [EARTH] - Fire Nation Royal Palace [FIRE] Let me know what you think! Anyone who may be interested in the instructions can find them here and on Rebrickable.com.
