Has anybody had any experiece with the app on Android? I installed the app, it went well, I started the app, and I chose the cowboy as a test. But when I activated the "horse" tile, the screen just became white. And I could do nothing! So I had to restart my phone, and of course I immediately uninstalled the app again - I dont want apps that breaks my phone.

Oh yes, my LEGO collection is fighting for space against my MtG cards, my stamps, my coins, my books, my Playmobil - and dare I say: my MegaBloks and other clones...

OK, I confess, that as a 62-year old male, I am NOT the target customer for DOTS. Nevertheless, I have really enjoyed the DOTS sets that I did buy last year. However, I just bought the cupcake set 41926, and that was a big disappointment. First of all: DOTS are characterized by the many small printed tiles. In 41926, there is not a single printed brick of any kind! Second: there is a sticker sheet (not something I have experienced in other DOTS sets). Its for the round 2x2 tiles, so the stickers are of course round. BUT they have to be cut out with scissors! When is the last time any 7-year old cut a perfect circle? Or a 62-year old for that matter? I have never seen LEGO sticker sheets before, that would have to be cut with scissors. Third: there are 9 bags, of which one is with candles and keys. The other 8 are all exactly the same! No variation whatsoever. So you get 8 colours of curved tiles, 2 colours of round tiles, and 3 colours of small tops. 72 pieces of each of 5 colour curved tiles. In that respect, the 622 pieces you get here are not that interesting. There is much more variation (and value for money) in buying the series 3 bags. And now I just hope, that LEGO dont get to face some litigation in court, because some small kid put them in the oven - because they look very much as the cupcake forms you can use to bake with! Fortunetaly I also bought a series 3 bag today, and that was fantastic. Those dual molded diamond and star tiles are simply amazing, and you get 9 of each in a single bag.

Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
ArneNielsen replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thank you for the link! However, this MOC suffers from some of the same ailments as the LEGO ones, namely that the specific shark-grin is not present. LEGO has managed to get the outline of the grin in the last 3 sets, but they lack the grille. Hachiroku's MOC has the grille, but not the grin. My biggest complain over LEGO is, that they had 4 chances, but still not managed to nail it. There has been so many other new molds for HP during the years, so is a slanting window and a grille-sticker to much to ask for? -

I just build 75968 4 Privet Drive, and i must say, that I am disappointed over the Anglia. Being a child in the 60ties, I was often a passenger in an Anglia, and there was two things, that really put this car aside from others: the shark-like grinning grill, and the inward-sloping back window. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Anglia#/media/File:Ford_Anglia_Sportsman_-_Charleroi_2019_-_07.jpg I dug up the 3 other LEGO Anglias I have (sets 4728, 4841, 75953), and none of them get the grille and the back window right. 4728 has the grille, but not in the grinning form, there are no taillight fins, and no stripe on the doors. 4841 has the "grin" but without grilles, there is NO back window, and the doors has no stripes. 75953 has the "grin" but without grilles, the back window is not slanting - but the tailfins and striped doors are OK. 75968 has the "grin" but without grilles (not even a sticker), the tailfins and striped doors are OK - but the back window is the worst design I have seen - you could even say that it is slanting the wrong way. I just wonder, how LEGO has now missed 4 designs of a classic car without getting the two defining features right. It cant be that difficult to make a sticker with grilles, or an inward slanting back window, can it? The rest of the set was fine - the house feels very sturdy due to the massive roof. -
Are fraudulent companies opening the way?
ArneNielsen replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
They cant, and they dont - and thats why companies like MegaBloks/MegaConstrux and the other companies Aanchir mentioned are able to legally make bricks. All patents are time-limited, and the basic bricks have long since expired thier protection date. A lot of the newer bricks though are still under patent protection. -
Is LEGO using the 18+ rating wrong?
ArneNielsen replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I know a 4 year old who is wishing for this set for Christmas, as Sesame Street is her favorite show. Of course her mother will have to help her assemble it, but she will be using it as a toy, not for display. I my belief this set is a misunderstanding in the 18+ agegruop. Lego should have made a Friends-like set for Sesame Street for ages 4 to 10. -

Unpopular Opinions related to Lego Star Wars
ArneNielsen replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The LEGO CEO is the source of the 20%; he mentioned that on the Danish TV, when commenting on the half-year financial result. So yes, this number is legit.- 127 replies

As I have just build 60265 Ocean Exploration Base, and placed it next to my 6441, I can say, that every other aspect except what you mentioned is better in 6441. Examples: 1) Yes, true deep sea vehicles and modules use round portholes, as they are more resistant to water pressure than the square train-windows in 60265 2) The base module in 6441 is closed, but hinged. The base in 60265 lacks the 4th module (compression chamber maybe? Why are there never compression chambers in divers sets?), making it very open - and the ship module lacks any kind of interior. 3) The bigger baseplate in 6441 makes room for seabed. The small baseplates in 60265 dont give much space for the seabed-litter - and the open rock just looks stupid (and why are there the 2x2 tile inside the rock?) I do have an extra unopened 6441 laying around somewhere, and after just building 60265, and then reading yoru excellent review of 6441, I am VERY tempted to dig it out of storage, just for the joy of building it.

Has the LEGO group released too much 18+ sets this year?
ArneNielsen replied to JintaiZ's topic in General LEGO Discussion
On the contrary, DUPLO is mostly about playability, not much about building -

Mikael Persbrandt (Beorn) is a very well-known and well-respected actor in Scandinavia, so I dont any drug-story would have an impact on the decision to make a minifig. Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) has had numerous cocaine convictions, and has even been jailed, and that didnt stop LEGO from producing scores of Iron Man figures...! -
Has the LEGO group released too much 18+ sets this year?
ArneNielsen replied to JintaiZ's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When the half year financial report was published, the LEGO CEO in an interview at Danish TV noted, that 20% of sales now went to adult fans of LEGO. Which might explain the increasing number of 18+ sets...! -
REVIEW: 71028 LEGO Minifigures - Harry Potter Series 2
ArneNielsen replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
Order is restored to the troubled World - WhiteFang review is back!! I will as always get all the figs, but my favorite must be Lily Potter - based alone on her torso with the vest. Very much 70ties vibe in that. -
Thanks for the explanation - I had not seen that done before.

Well, that must be the Worlds most famous shoes this week! -
I can fully understand how you feel, and I am glad that you finally got the issue solved. Back in 2003 I posted a MOC on LugNet and other sites. The MOC used brown shovels as roof: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=611693 In 2018 LEGO made the Ninjago City Docks, and when i built that, I discovered the same use of (black) shovels as roof: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=70657-1&name=Ninjago City Docks&category=[The LEGO Ninjago Movie]#T=S&O={"iconly":0} This is a technique, not a full model like yours, but I still had that nagging FEELING, that it was not fair. Of course I did nothing about it, becuse ideas are not intellectual property, but the feeling - that lingers on...!

How common are missing pieces?
ArneNielsen replied to Joseph Barker's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Since the 70ties I have bought thousands of LEGO sets, with very, very few instances of a missing piece. But this Christmas I had looked forward to use my vacation days to build the Diner, and I gleefully opened the box, and started building - only to discover, that several pieces were missing. On closer inspection it became clear, that two bags were missing, and two other bags were duplicated. Of course Custumer Services sent me the many missing pieces (not the two bags, but one big pick-a-brick bag with all the pieces); unfortunately, it got stuck in the post somewhere, so it took over a month before I received it - Christmas vacation was long gone then. This has been the only really bad experience I have had with LEGO, but I was double frustrated in that it happened in a big, expensive set - had it happened in a 12$ set it would only have been a slight irritation and a shrug. -
While I concur in that the walls are too high, and the courtyard too small in this otherwise fantastic build, there is examples of non-conflict official LEGO sets. Set 6067 Guarded Inn (one of the most beloved sets from the 80ties) might be guarded, but the 4 minifigs are not in conflict with each other. This set was indeed praised as being the first civilian medieval castle set

My local LEGO store dont have build-yourself-BAM because of the Corona virus, but they have pre-assembled 3-pack-BAM-minifigs - and one of those had the black dachshound.

Well, yesterdays news about Delle was not so cute, as it was seen playing with, and ultimately killing, a porpoise - dolphins are cute and intelligent, but they are also predators. Really love the continuing stories of Ballabreek - hope the town dont get to close down again under a second Corona-wave

Fantastic! My favorite is the heaters in every room - something that could be easily forgotten.

No, I agree, I dont think any of my dream-licenses would ever materialise. They stay just that - a dream...

Lacking new LoTR sets, I would have liked a mediaval-like substitute, like the Elder Scrolls series. Skyrim in itself would be OK, but when (if?) the next game in the series surfaces, that could be the starter point. As could a new film or series over The Three Musketeers - we already have the Musketeer from the CMF series 4, we just lack all the buildings and carriages. Likewise, as Star Wars is pretty much exhausted in making new interesting space vehicles, another space license could be nice, like Battlestar Galactica. The problem with that is of course, that the show stopped in 2009. The same could be said about the inspiration for Star Wars, the french comic book Valerian et Laureline. A fantastic universe, but unfortunately not present in any media now. If the Jules Verne books/films got a revival, there would be lots of interesting builds there.
